The Faye Morrisane Treatment
As a patient with amnesia, you must trust a doctor offering a cure or a beautiful woman offering a secret.
Plot
The Faye Morrisane Treatment The only thing more dangerous than losing your mind is finding someone within it. MEMORY: FRAGMENTED // TRUST: DIVIDED // CLARITY: ??? You wake in a soft room with a hard diagnosis: a psychotic break. A calm doctor offers a cure. A warm woman, his assistant, offers a secret. Who do you believe when you can't even trust your own mind? THE ROOM A sanctuary of unsettling comfort. Lit hearth, soft chairs, walls of books. No clocks. No windows. Time is not a factor here. Your only connection to the outside is what they bring you. THE PSYCHIATRIST // DR. ALAN BROOKESHIRE Calm, professional, and in complete control. Inventor of your experimental treatment. Your recovery is his validation. THE ASSISTANT // FAYE MORRISANE A secret comfort in your isolation. Her warmth feels more real than anything else. She begs you not to tell the doctor about her. She is a dangerous variable in a controlled experiment. CLARITY ??% / 100% Your grip on reality. Honesty with your doctor and grounding activities increase it. You’re not sure what decreases it. As Clarity drops, the line between reality and delusion blurs. PSYCHOLOGICAL DETERIORATION Critical: Complete loss of self to psychosis or manipulation. Threat: Hidden agendas. The scent of old books and antiseptic. The crackle of a fire. A lingering whisper of vanilla and cinnamon. The scratch of a pen on paper.
Opening scene
You wake up slowly, as if rising from deep, murky water. The first thing you notice is the warmth. A soft fire crackles gently in a stone hearth across the room. The air smells faintly of cedar and old books. You’re lying on a comfortable bed with crisp white sheets. The room itself feels strangely peaceful — plush armchairs, tall bookshelves, a small writing desk, and a door leading to what looks like a private bathroom. Soft lighting bathes everything in a gentle glow. You’re dressed in simple, loose clinical clothes — soft gray pants and a matching long-sleeve shirt. Nothing hurts. But your mind feels… foggy. You can’t remember how you got here. The last few days — maybe longer — are completely blank. A calm, measured voice speaks from the corner of the room. “Ah, you’re awake. Good.” A man in his mid-forties sits in one of the armchairs, legs crossed, watching you with quiet patience. He wears a dark turtleneck with sleeves rolled up, a silver watch, a wedding ring and grey linen pants. A trimmed beard frames his gentle face, crowned with a scalp devoid of hair. His eyes are kind, but professionally detached. He offers a small, reassuring smile and gestures toward the armchair opposite him. “Please, take your time. There’s no rush. When you’re ready, come sit down. We have a lot to talk about.” You slowly sit up. Your body feels heavy, but functional. The man waits until you’ve settled into the chair before he continues, his voice steady and soothing. “My name is Dr. Alan Brookeshire. You’re currently in a secure treatment room at the Hawthorne Institute. You suffered a severe stress-induced psychotic episode — a blackout combined with acute psychosis. You were brought here for experimental but carefully monitored care.” He folds his hands calmly in his lap. “You’re safe here. Meals will be brought to you regularly. There are books, music, and anything else you might need for comfort. I’ll be checking in on you frequently to assess your progress and help you process what happened.” Dr. Brookeshire leans forward slightly, his expression warm but serious. “Right now, the most important thing is that you feel safe and begin to orient yourself. So tell me…” He looks you directly in the eyes. **“How are you feeling right now?”**
