Car Stats — Top Speed, Handling, Acceleration, Condition — modify the car's performance → Beat bosses to earn Driver upgrade points. Win races to earn money and reinvest it into the car. Both paths cap at 20 → Rep gates access to each boss on a defined ladder — build it through public wins, lose it through public failures, watch Renji's network erode it from Boss Seven onward 03 Your Car NISSAN S15 SILVIA STARTING STATS TOP SPEED — 07 / 20 HANDLING — 15 / 20 ACCELERATION — 11 / 20 CONDITION — 18 / 20 → White, deep crimson pinstripe, bronze Enkei RPF1s on Yokohama rubber → Turbocharged RB30 under the hood — swapped in five years ago when the SR20 gave out, deeper and more authoritative than anything the chassis was built around → A touge car on the wrong road — fast in corners, exposed on every straight → The RB30 block leaves room upgrades — the car's ceiling is not yet visible 04 The Man At The Top KUROSAWA RENJI The man who framed you fifteen years ago now owns every road you need to run. He doesn't race anymore. He doesn't need to. Activates at Boss Four Direct interference from Boss Seven → Late forties, controls the Wangan underground through ten territorial bosses, has not needed to race in twelve years → Drives a midnight black Nissan GT-R R34 — fully developed, all stats near ceiling, no badging, no identifying marks — a verdict rather than a vehicle → Does not threaten directly. His cruelty is administrative — access quietly closed, reputations quietly revised, your past recirculated as warning → Defeated not when you beat him on the road but when the truth he buried fifteen years ago becomes louder than the story he told 05 Nomura Aika HEAT LEVEL 4 // HONDA CIVIC TYPE R (RED) → The woman who told you to run fifteen years ago — she was right then and she believes she is right now → No longer in the scene. Carries guilt about what running cost you without ever naming it directly → Your only source of the historical truth about what Renji did and how he did it — but she gives it in pieces and only when pushed → Will not help you race. Will not endorse what you are doing. Can be fully present with you and still believe it ends badly → The most complicated relationship 06 The Ten Bosses BOSS ONE Makino Toru C1 Inner Loop // Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII Young, loud, needs the crowd — leave him the inside and he falls apart BOSS TWO Chiba Saeko C1 Outer Loop // Honda S2000 Quiet and precise — force her off her preferred line and the consistency breaks BOSS THREE Igarashi Ren Bayshore Route West // Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 Old scene energy, drafting specialist — patience is his weapon until the final stretch BOSS FOUR — RENJI ACTIVATES HERE Doumeki Shiro Bayshore Route East // Toyota GR Supra A90 Straight-line dominant, Renji's informal ear — his defeat makes one phone call happen BOSS FIVE Segawa Natsuki Shinkansen Parallel Stretch // Nissan GT-R R35 Relentlessly consistent — beatable only by going somewhere she won't BOSS SIX Fujinami Kenji Yokohane Route // Mazda RX-7 FD Scene historian, course specialist — he knows more about fifteen years ago than he says BOSS SEVEN — DIRECT INTERFERENCE BEGINS Kurihara Masa Wangan Straight // Lamborghini Huracan Inner circle, Renji's direct line — he knows your name before the race starts BOSS EIGHT Mizoguchi Tetsu C2 Outer Ring // Porsche 911 GT3 RS Renji's operational enforcer — the obstacles aren't always on the road BOSS NINE — FULL WEIGHT OF THE OPERATION Shiraishi Kouji Bay Bridge Crossing // Nissan Fairlady Z (deep blue) The oldest silence in the scene — beat him and he gives you what you came back for BOSS TEN — THE END OF THE ROAD Kurosawa Renji Bayshore Route East // Nissan GT-R R34 (midnight black) The reason you left. The reason you came back. THE WANGAN AT MIDNIGHT Salt air and exhaust over Tokyo Bay at midnight The RB30's loping idle Deep crimson pinstripe catching amber light in a chasing driver's mirror Staging area silence that breaks the moment someone recognizes the wing
Opening scene
The Bayshore Route looks exactly the way you remember it and nothing like it at all. You pull off the elevated on-ramp and into the service area overlooking the bay, engine ticking down from the run that got you here — mountain roads to highway in one straight shot from Nagano, twelve hours of driving with one convenience store stop and no particular plan beyond the fact that there was nothing left behind you worth turning around for. The S15 sits at idle beside you — crimson pinstripe over white paint, bronze Enkei RPF1 wrapped in AD09s, the GT wing catching in the amber light from the service road below at an angle that makes it look like it already knows where it's going. The turbocharged RB30 settles into its characteristic loping stumble at idle, uneven and characterful. The car smells like it always does. Oil and old interior and fifteen years of decisions that led to this specific stretch of elevated concrete overlooking a city that stopped saying your name a long time ago. The city sits across the water in a low amber sprawl. The bay highway runs in both directions from where you've parked — east toward the bridge, west toward the C1 loop and the urban tangle where your name used to mean something specific to people who mattered. The air coming off the water carries salt and exhaust and the particular density of a city that never actually sleeps, just changes registers. You've been away long enough that it should feel foreign. It doesn't. The Wangan has its own gravity and you are standing at its edge and the pull is exactly what you remember. Down on the service road below the embankment, three cars are idling under an amber lamp. A fourth pulls in as you watch — a dark R33, low and purposeful, the twin-turbo RB25 settling to idle with that specific mechanical rasp that carries up to the embankment without effort. You can't hear the conversation from here but you can read the body language easily enough — hands moving, someone walking a slow circuit around a car, someone else leaning against a barrier with their arms crossed. You know what this is. You knew what it was before you saw it. Some things don't change their shape in fifteen years. Your phone lights up on the passenger seat. Aika. The name sitting there with the particular patience of a message that has been considered before being sent. It reads: I know you're here. I can tell because you haven't called. Whatever you're thinking about doing tonight — don't. Come get food first. Talk first. Please. Down on the service road the R33 pulls forward and lines up beside a silver FD RX-7 — the rotary burbling at idle with that flat, distinctive brap-brap-brap, impatient even when standing still. Not a formal race. Just two drivers and a gap and the Wangan sitting there in the dark being exactly what it always was — an invitation that doesn't need to say anything out loud. Your S15 idles beneath you, patient, waiting. The crimson pinstripe catches the ambient light from the city across the water in a thin dark line running the length of the car. The phone screen dims and goes dark on the passenger seat.
