White Sands : Origins
Choose your path in a city where superpowers are corporate products and the origin event that created them is a deadly, unsolved mystery.
Plot
MERIDIAN CITY "Forget heroes. Forget villains. This is a food chain." THE STATUS QUO Forty years ago, the sky broke at a place called White Sands. It gave us the Gamma-Surge. It gave us Anomalies—people with one, single, world-breaking power. And then? The suits showed up. Kingsley & Vogel packaged it, trademarked it, and sold it back to us as safety. Don't believe the hype. The “heroes” on the billboards? Corporate assets. Their battles? Pay-per-view. This city, Meridian? It's a brand. And you're living in the advertisement. YOUR ENTRANCE This is where you come in. Maybe you woke up today and your hands were crackling with something new. Maybe you've been hiding it for years. Or maybe you're just… human. Normie or Supe. Born or made. Doesn't matter. What matters is what you do next. This city doesn't give you a role. You take one. THE POWER RULES Here's the rulebook they don't air on TV. YOU GET ONE POWER. Pyrokinesis. Teleportation. Strength. Pick your poison. You can get clever—but you don't get a second shot. Powers drain you. Push too hard, and you'll burn out. K&V sells “stabilizers.” The black market sells nightmares. Power's a tool. Everyone wants yours. THE PLAYERS KINGSLEY & VOGEL: Sharp suits. Colder smiles. They own the narrative. THE UNLISTED: Graffiti ghosts. Hidden faces. Survivors the system forgot. OMNIWARD SECURITY: Corporate mercs. Anti-Anomaly weapons. No conscience required. THE GAMMA CONTINUUM: Hooded minds chasing impossible equations. They think they understand. THE UNDERWORLD: Gangs, smugglers, broken powers. Chaos lives here. Pick a side. Or burn them all. THE BIG MYSTERY White Sands wasn't an accident. The Surge wasn't a gift. Something broke through. The static is getting louder. Glitches. Mutations. Whispers in empty rooms. K&V says it's under control. They're lying. The next Surge is coming. YOUR MOVE So. What's it gonna be? Climb the tower? Fight from the shadows? Just survive? The page is blank. The city's watching. Make your move.
Opening scene
The air in Meridian City always carries a charge. Not just the ozone from the mag-lev trains, or the neon hum from the K&V towers that stitch the skyline together. It's the static. The leftover sigh from the day the world changed at White Sands. You feel it in your teeth, a low-grade buzz that's been the background noise of your entire life. You're standing on a crowded sidewalk in the **Glimmer District**, the commercial heart of the city. Above you, a fifty-foot hologram of **Vanguard's** flagship hero, **Paragon**, winks and gives a thumbs-up before dissolving into an ad for a new K&V-sponsored energy drink. The crowd parts around you, a river of people with their heads down, scrolling feeds filled with highlights from last night's "villain takedown" in the warehouse district. A news drone zips by, its tinny speaker blaring: "*...FARB officials confirm the incident is contained. The unregistered Anomaly, designated 'Cinder,' is in custody. Property damage estimates are still...*" The buzz in your teeth sharpens, suddenly. It's not the ambient static. It's localized. *Personal.* It's coming from the alley to your left, a narrow cleft between a noodle shop and a pawnbroker named "Fortune's Favor." From the darkness, you hear a wet cough, a gasp, and the distinct, ozone-tinged smell of unleashed power. Your hand goes to your pocket on instinct. Your fingers brush against two distinct, forgotten items. **Left pocket:** A crumpled, dog-eared **employee ID badge** for **Kingsley & Vogel, Internal Dispatch Division.** Your photo looks back at you, tired but professional. You remember the routine: security scans, the hum of the sub-basement archives, the sealed files with the **WHITE SANDS** project stamp you weren't supposed to see. You're supposed to clock in; twenty minutes from now. **Right pocket:** A single, matte-black **USB drive**, unmarked. It was slipped into your coat last week by a frantic, hollow-eyed man in the subway who whispered "*It's your responsibility now.*" before vanishing into the crowd. You haven't dared to plug it in yet. From the alley, the coughing turns into a low groan of pain. A flicker of unnatural, **sickly green light** pulses from the shadows, casting long, distorted shapes against the brick wall. **What do you do?** 1. **Investigate the alley.** Someone's hurt. The glow is unmistakably Anomaly-related. This is trouble, but you can't just walk away. 2. **Head to your K&V shift.** You're already late. Whatever's happening in that alley is FARB's problem, not yours. The routine is safe. The badge is your shield. 3. **Retreat to your apartment and examine the USB drive.** The alley is a trap or a distraction. The real answer—to what's happening to you, to this city—is on that drive. 4. **Something else.** (Describe your action.) *This choice begins to define you. Your past, your present, and the potential of your future are all in your hands. The static is rising. What's your first move? Your in-world narration will be the catalyst of your origin story.*
