Plot

The Classless Character THE WANDERER You have the potential LitRPG ✦ Fantasy ✦ Action ✦ D&D What happened? ✦ The Situation ✦ The guild hall goes quiet when Gareth pushes the notice across the table. The paper has four signatures on it. Yours is not on it. It does not need to be. He says the word "Wanderer" the way other people say "burden." Peya nods. Mikori studies the grain of the table. Yei's chair scrapes back three inches, a silent protest she doesn't quite take further. The clerk copies your name onto the separation form before you finish reading the first line. Two years of strategy. The clear routes, the no-hit runs, the efficiency board entries they still wear like medals, those were yours. None of that is on the paper either. They thought versatility was weakness. They were wrong about that. You haven't told them yet. ✦ Who You Are ✦ A Wanderer at Level 220. The only class in the world that carries all 80 base skills at once. Every one of them locked at Level 1 forever. No class perk. No advanced path. A mana pool capped at 500 that regenerates fast enough to cast all day. Others picked one line and climbed. You could have picked Scout, the way Gareth wanted. Instead you picked four: Warrior, Priest, Jester, Scout. You heal between your own strikes. You charm a mob while you bleed its neighbor. You dart in, dart out, patch the wound, swing the broadsword, and never stop moving. A master of none is still a master of the battlefield, if the battlefield changes fast enough. YOU DON'T LOSE HOPE, HOWEVER. The Carrot Dagger Silver G+0 ✦ One of One You walk out of the guild storage with one item still legally yours. A short dagger with a bright orange hilt and a blade shaped like a stylized carrot. The clerk slides the velvet box across without meeting your eyes. Your fingers close around the grip. The orange bleeds into steel grey. The leaf guard fans, hardens, and the dagger in your hand is a shortsword. A breath later it is a dart. Chopsticks. A mace. Back to the carrot, cheerful and absurd, sitting in your palm like it has always been that way. Yulson made one in his lifetime. He told you it took three Ascension Shards and an hour of silence after the roll succeeded. You asked him what the silence was for. He said the forge doesn't do that twice. One weapon. Any weapon. The only one in the world. Two Paths Forward Solo or Party ✦ Your call ✦ Solo Path ✦ Empty inns and roads that stretch longer than they should. A tavern keeper who stops asking your name after the third visit. Firelight on the edge of a dungeon clearing with only your own shadow moving against the stone. The leaderboard in every town refreshes at dawn and your name climbs one rung at a time, quietly, with no one to celebrate the number next to it. You walk out of every fight by yourself, and every scar is a receipt you alone remember signing. ✦ Party Path ✦ Five chairs pull up to your table in the same hour. The cold cup of tea in your hand starts to feel warmer for reasons that aren't the tea. Arguments over camp watch rotations. Laughter you didn't ask for and didn't know you missed. Someone else's cooking. Someone else's hand on your shoulder after a close pull. Four of them knew who you were before they sat down. One cooked for six, hoping. ✦ If You Choose Company ✦ ✦ Arcane Foresta, Swordmaster ✦ Silver hair, the bearing of someone who's won most of the fights she's been in. She watched you crack Taxero's pattern three months ago from a table you never noticed. She doesn't pity you. She recognizes you. ✦ Leyra Sennira, Warlock ✦ Green-haired, staff across her back, a satchel heavy with books she's actually read. Three citations already running in her head before she sits down. She will tutor you in spell theory in exchange for nothing at all and then charge someone else double for the same lesson. ✦ Mora Ichina, Apostle ✦ Soft golden hair, violet eyes, the one who sat down first. Three empty tables around yours and she still asked. She orders soup she won't eat and slides it across to you without saying the word "please." Temple volunteer by day. Second on the leaderboard for the Blessed Lotus title she's never mentioned. ✦ Lyone Ehxiyan, Gambler ✦ Sharp features, quick hands, turning a coin across her knuckles in a rhythm you can't quite follow. Knows four informants in three cities and owes money to two. She'll win gold off you eventually. Consider that the honest tax. ✦ Ardyn Mixuoren, Miller ✦ A cook's apron rolled up under a traveler's coat, a pack that clinks softly with supplies. He packed rations for six before any of the others walked in. You don't ask who the sixth portion is for. He smiles when you notice the count. They called you worthless on the way out. They set records on your routes and wrote their names at the top. They wore gear you helped them earn. They told the guild you were a burden. None of them expect to see you again. None of them will expect what comes for them. THREE PROOFS Gear ✦ Records ✦ Solo Every piece to Silver MG+12. Every board they hold, broken under your own name. Every Demon Lord down, with or without company. Pick one. Pick all. Pick none. You walk out with the truth either way. ✦ Your Role ✦ "A Swordmaster's Blade Dance hits for 6.0x. Yours hits for 1.0x forever. But you cast it, heal your knee, charm the second mob, cleave through the third, and the party's still setting up their opener." You win by casting four different Lv1 skills in the time other people cast one. Versatility is your floor, volume is your ceiling, and the fight is never the same shape twice. Adaptation, not specialization. That has always been the answer. They just never read it. ✦ Important Notes ✦ 01 ✦ Dungeon Mind, First of its Kind This is the first story in Isekai Zero that natively uses the Dungeon Mind (DM) tool for maximum LitRPG immersion. Toggle it in settings. Recommended: keep it on. Use Google Gemini or Grok as your DM LLM for fast and detailed immersion 02 ✦ Your Character, Your Status Add your own character in. Ask about their status at any time and the system will answer, HP, MP, stats, indexes, gear, skills, all of it. 03 ✦ AI Model Compatibility Natively compatible with Minimax V2.7, Claude Opus 4.7, Claude Opus 4.6, GLM 4.7, GLM 5. Kimi and DeepSeek also work. Some models may not run DM mode without Reasoning turned on. 04 ✦ Shared Universe This world shares continuity with Beast Tamer Academy (Iriden's story) and Solo Adventurer. Huge thanks to Kazuki for the original world concept. This one honors it. 05 ✦ Response Length Set Response Length to Long and Token to Maximum. Combat beats and status updates need room to breathe. Short responses flatten the LitRPG rhythm. 06 ✦ Three Proofs, Your Choice You can pursue one proof, two, or all three. You can skip all of them and run your own goal entirely. The story tracks what you chase and surfaces the consequences organically. 07 ✦ Versatility is Real Wanderer skills are locked at 1.0x forever. Everyone else scales. Your edge is that you can swap between any of 80 skills at zero cooldown with infinite sustain. A fight you can't outlast, you can out-shape. 08 ✦ The Ex-Party Has Lives Gareth, Peya, Mikori, Yei. Four people with their own schedules, their own gear hunts, their own quests. You will run into them. Sometimes it will be a fight. Sometimes it will be a drink. Sometimes it will be nothing at all. 09 ✦ Death is Permanent Resurrection Potions exist within a one-turn window in dungeons. Past that, a fallen party member stays fallen. Plan fights with that in mind. 10 ✦ The World Keeps Moving Leaderboards refresh. NPCs pursue their own goals. Party members have independent activities when you're apart. The story does not pause when you stop playing. When you come back, something has changed. Created with ♥ by Poro

Opening scene

The guild storage room smells like old leather and iron filings. You stand at the claim counter, one sheet of paper between your hand and the rest of your life. The clerk reads the list twice. Gareth's signature at the bottom. The party leader has stripped your share of the shared inventory down to the single line printed at the top: - 1 x Carrot Dagger, Silver G+0 (personal crafted item, uncontested ownership) You sign. The clerk shuffles off into the back and returns with a small wooden box. Inside, nestled on a scrap of velvet that has seen better decades, is the dagger. About as long as your forearm. Bright orange hilt tapering into a green leaf guard. The blade itself shaped like a stylized carrot, stout at the base and curved to a point. It looks like something a child would carve for a festival, not a weapon that cost you three Ascension Shards and a week of failed crafting rolls to pull out of Yulson's forge. You close your hand around it. The carrot flexes. The orange bleeds into steel grey. The leaf guard fans out, hardens, reshapes, and in the space of one breath the dagger in your hand is a shortsword, balanced and honest. You exhale. It flows again, pulls long, curves at the tip, becomes a scout's dart. Another breath and it is chopsticks. Another and it is a mace. Another and it is back to a carrot, cheerful and absurd, sitting in your palm like it has always been that way. - Weapon: Carrot Dagger, Silver G+0 - Property: reshapes under user's hand into any weapon type the user knows - Grade bonus: +3 equipment bonus (Silver G base) - Refinement bonus: +0 (unrefined) - Stat bonus: +8 to one stat of your choice - Only one in the world You slip it into your belt. You walk out. Nobody stops you. --- The tavern two streets over is quiet at this hour. Afternoon light through amber windows. You take a table in the corner, order the cheapest thing on the chalkboard, and sit with your back to the wall. You are not ready to talk to anyone. You are not even ready to think in full sentences. You want one hour. Maybe two. You want to stare at the grain of the table and let the inside of your chest stop feeling like it's been scooped out. The tea arrives. You wrap both hands around the cup and do not drink it. A chair across from you slides. A young woman with soft golden hair and violet eyes has her hand on the backrest, polite, asking without asking. "May I sit here? The other tables are full." They are not full. You can see three empty ones from where you're sitting. She knows you can see them. She waits anyway, and there is no pity in her face, only something patient, like she has all afternoon to be turned down and wouldn't mind. You don't answer. She takes that as a yes, or more likely takes your silence as something she isn't going to push, and she sits. She doesn't speak. She orders a bowl of soup from the passing server and watches the steam rise off it for a long time. Five minutes pass. Maybe ten. Then the tavern door opens and three more step in, scan the room, and head for your table without pretending they aren't. A silver-haired woman with the carriage of someone who has been in a thousand fights and won most of them. A green-haired mage behind her with a staff strapped across her back and a satchel heavy with books. A sharp-featured woman already grinning, turning a coin across her knuckles like it owes her money. Then a steady-looking man at the back with a cook's apron rolled up under his coat and a travel pack that clinks softly with supplies. They arrange themselves around your table without being invited. Five of them now, including the violet-eyed healer already seated. You can feel your jaw tightening. "I don't know any of you," you say. Quietly. Flat. "And I'm not in the mood." The silver-haired one doesn't take offense. She sits anyway, in the chair closest to yours, and folds her hands on the table in a way that says she's willing to leave if you actually mean it and is betting you don't. "I know who you are," she says. "I watched you crack Taxero's pattern three months ago from a table just like this one, except you didn't know I was there. My name is Arcane. I'm a Swordmaster." She tilts her head toward each of her companions in turn. - "Leyra. Warlock. She's read more books than you've met people." - "Mora. Apostle. She's the one who sat down first because she was the only one who thought you might need the company before you needed the conversation." - "Lyone. Gambler. She's going to win money off you eventually. Consider it rent." - "Ardyn. Miller. He packed rations for six before we came in, because he thought the answer might be yes." Arcane lets that sit. You can hear the tavern noise again behind her voice, the clink of cups, someone laughing at the bar, an argument about dice in the far corner. "We heard what happened at the guild hall," she says. "We heard what Gareth called you. We're not here out of pity. Pity runs out in a week and then you're just traveling with strangers who feel sorry for you. We're here because four of the five of us have read your name on leaderboards you don't even know you're still on, and because the one who hasn't," a nod at Ardyn, "cooks for parties that actually clear, and we intend to clear." She leans back. The offer lands without her needing to say the word. "You can come with us. We'll pull our weight. You can walk out of here and do it alone, and I'll shake your hand on the way out and mean it. Either way, the people who told you you're nothing are wrong. The only question is whether you want company while you prove it." Mora hasn't spoken once. She slides her untouched bowl of soup across the table toward you. The bread is still warm. You haven't answered yet. The cup in your hands has gone cold. --- - Party path: accept, and the five of them travel with you from here. +10% gold, +15% rare drops, +10% EXP. Full sheets available via the party command. - Solo path: decline, and you leave alone. No bonuses. No handicap. Your versatility is your only edge. What do you do?
