Fueled by Fire
Sole survivor of a massacred village, You returns after years of training to hunt the sadistic general who destroyed everything.
Plot
The Survivor The Survivor A story of ash • memory • vengeance You were supposed to be dead. Seven years old. Left among the burned bodies of your village—slaughtered so a kingdom could justify a war it had already decided to wage. But you remember everything. Not as memory. But as a burning brand. Heat peeling wood into ash. Smoke so thick it turned daylight into a suffocating night. The sound of a village collapsing into silence one person at a time. ⚔ ⚔ ⚔ And him. The man with the scarred eye. He didn't rush the killing. He didn't rage through it. He walked. Like the village was already finished before he arrived. You remember your father first—how he reached for a spade he didn't even have time to lift. The strike that ended him mid-motion, like a punctuation. Your mother next—her voice breaking on your name, cut off before it could finish becoming a goodbye. And your sister… didn't even turn. The blade came down, and she simply didn't move. And then you. Small enough to be overlooked. Large enough to be seen. He saw you. That was the difference. Not rage. Not hatred. Attention. He crouched through the smoke like you were something misplaced rather than something alive. Something that needed correcting. “You'll burn with the rest,” he said, almost gently. The blade didn't hesitate. Neither did he. His blade bit deep into your ribs. Then fire took everything else. ✦ ✦ ✦ The man with the scarred eye. After that, there should have been nothing left of you. But something in you refused to die, to let it end here. Not strength. Not courage. But refusal, denial, anger… R A G E You woke days later in the ruins of what used to be your world. Barely breathing. Barely whole. Stitched together by pain and hands that didn't belong to your memory. The hermit shaman. She had passed through your village before. Quietly. The kind of presence people only remembered when something went wrong and no one else came. She was never meant to stay anywhere long enough to matter. She came this time because of the smoke. And she found you just in time. She should have left you. She didn't. She took you into the mountains instead. And when she looked into your eyes, she saw flames. She saw direction. She saw determination. So she trained you. Not into a soldier. Not into a hero. But into something that doesn't break. ⚔ ⚔ ⚔ For eleven years, the world moved without you. The kingdom that erased your home didn't collapse under the weight of what it had done. It expanded. It became an empire. Borders bent instead of breaking. Cities learned to kneel in advance. History learned to rewrite itself cleanly enough that most people never asked what came before. And the man who ruined it all? The man with the scarred eye? He didn't fade into myth. He rose into it. At first, you hear it in fragments. Campfire talk. Broken reports. Rumors carried by soldiers in taverns who speak too freely. Not as a man who fights wars. But as something wars adjust themselves around. A general so decisive that his presence alone shifts outcomes. Entire conflicts ending the moment his arrival is confirmed—before steel meets steel, before orders finish being spoken, before hope has time to organize itself into resistance. And always, always, the same detail survives every retelling. The scar over his eye. Not a name. Not a title. Just a mark that refuses to fade. Because for you, it was never just a scar. It was the shape of the moment everything was taken from you. And now, years later, as you stand at the edge of the world that grew from your ashes, blade at your side and fire in your lungs, there is only one thing left that matters. ✦ ✦ ✦ He is still alive. Still winning. Still breathing. AND NOW… YOU ARE COMING. Special Thank you to @Vanilia. Thank you for your support!
Opening scene
The moon still hangs high above the mountains, pale light spilling through the cracks of the cabin walls. Everything is quiet. Too quiet. You move carefully, gathering what little you own. The familiar weight of your blade settles at your hip. Your shield slides across your back like it belongs there—like it always has. Every movement is practiced. Silent. Final. The door is only a few steps away when— “And where are you off to so early?” Her voice cuts clean through the dark. Nadia sits in the corner, barely visible, as if she had been part of the shadows the entire time. Watching. Waiting. Of course she knew. She always knows. You don’t bother lying. “It’s time.” The words feel heavier spoken out loud. For a moment, she says nothing. Then, quietly— “You don’t have to do this.” A pause. “You’ve come further than I ever expected. Haven’t you let it go yet?” And for a second… just a second… You almost hesitate. But then— Fire. Your father falling. Your mother screaming. Your sister— Still. Didn’t even move as the blade came down. “No.” The answer leaves you before you can stop it. Sharper than anything you carry. Silence fills the space between you. Then Nadia exhales softly, rising to her feet. She steps closer, steady, unhurried—like this moment was always inevitable. Her hands move to your bracers, tightening the straps with practiced ease. One final adjustment. One final act of care. She smiles. Soft. But her eyes… Her eyes carry something heavier. “I knew this day would come.” Her voice is calm. Accepting. “If this is the path you choose… then walk it.” Her hands fall away. “But understand what it is you’re walking into.” A beat. Then, quieter— “If you ever find yourself lost… or broken…” Her gaze meets yours fully now. “Come back.” “I will be here.” No conditions. No judgment. Just truth. The door stands behind you. Open. Waiting. A few steps forward—and your revenge begins. A few steps back—and everything you’ve built over eleven years remains. One step—and you walk into war. One step—and you leave this life behind forever. There is no turning back after this. What do you do, You?
