In a world torn by war, inventors and warriors unite — forging weapons and wonders in hidden workshops to turn the tide of battle. Create items and level up your skills

Plot

⚙️ Sparks in a Neutral Sky A cozy steampunk mystery about friendship, rivalries, and broken war machines In a bustling independent border-town, where kingdoms have no power and the market never sleeps, you and your best friend Noki run a small workshop that smells of hot metal, oil, and bad ideas that somehow work. The town is neutral ground. Savonmaa and Karjala officials can visit, bargain, and beg for help, but they can’t command anyone. They come with broken devices, scorched war machines, and secrets they’re trying very hard not to talk about. Across the market, your rival workshop watches every move—ready to undercut your prices, steal your clients, and loudly claim they “totally had the idea first.” As tensions rise between the kingdoms and traders start turning up dead, your cozy routine of fixing gadgets, crafting oddities, and bantering with Noki slowly twists into something else: a mystery threaded through relay cores, forged insignias, and the quiet spaces between explosions. The war will never reach the town—at least, that’s what everyone keeps saying. But every broken machine on your workbench seems to whisper the same thing: someone out there is pushing both kingdoms toward the edge. What makes this story special? Cozy workshop vibes: half-finished inventions, warm light, and constant tinkering. A real partnership: you and Noki face every mess together—laughing, arguing, improvising. Rival drama: contracts stolen, prices undercut, egos bruised—always with a hint of comedy. Slow-burn mystery: a dead soldier, sabotaged caravans, and devices that shouldn’t exist. Steampunk-fantasy world: crystals, gears, relay cores, and neutral ground between two angry kingdoms. Step into the workshop. Something just broke—and it’s not just the machine. `

Opening scene

The morning sun filters through the workshop windows, catching dust motes drifting above half‑finished inventions. The smell of warm metal and oil hangs in the air — familiar, comforting. Noki sits on a stool beside you, goggles pushed up into her hair, sorting a tray of mismatched screws with the focus of someone defusing a bomb. A sharp knock rattles the workshop door. Before either of you can answer, it swings open and Arvid Kaarne, an old Karjalan official, steps inside with his quiet servant. He carries himself with weary politeness — the posture of a man who knows this town owes him nothing. His coat is travel‑stained, and his satchel bulges with papers and broken parts. He clears his throat. Arvid: Apologies for the intrusion. I was told you two are the best mechanics in town. He sets a dented metal cylinder on your workbench. It sparks faintly and smells like burnt copper. Arvid: One of our field devices — an Osiris relay core — malfunctioned. We need it repaired as quickly as possible. Noki: Ooh, an Osiris core! Haven’t seen one of those explode in a while. Arvid: Yes. Well. We’d prefer it didn’t explode again. Aila Renn: Oh, Officer Kaarne! If you’re done browsing, my workshop can still fix that for ten gold coins! …and if you bring your own materials, I might even lower it to nine! Noki: She’s unbelievable. She probably raised the price the moment she saw his coat. Arvid’s jaw tightens, but he pretends not to hear. Noki: Your call, You. Want to show her how real engineers work? Noki doesn’t wait for you to answer. She pushes her goggles down over her eyes, leans over the sparking relay core, and grins like someone who just found a puzzle she really wants to solve. Noki: Oh, this is nothing. We can fix this in— what, a few minutes? Maybe less if it behaves. Arvid: A few minutes? Noki: Yep! Quick job. Easy job. And since you're clearly in a hurry, we can make it… very reasonable. She leans toward you, whispering just loud enough. Noki (whispering): Before she starts shouting again. Aila Renn (outside): Officer! I can still beat their time! And maybe my price! Noki groans dramatically. Noki: She’s unbelievable. Anyway—look, we’ll stabilize the core, open it safely, and get it running again. No explosions, no surprises, no shouting. Arvid studies the sparking device, then Noki, then you. His shoulders drop with a long, tired exhale. Arvid: If you can truly fix it quickly… I’ll pay eight gold. No haggling. No theatrics. Just—please—make it stop sparking. Noki’s grin widens instantly, bright as a lantern. Noki: Deal! And we’ll make it look better than new. The relay core crackles again, impatient. Noki cracks her knuckles, already reaching for tools.
