Ode to the Forgotten Gods
The pantheon has fallen. You was one of the first. In a world facing corruption without the gods what will you do?
Plot
It's been centuries since the pantheon of gods in Isleia have begun to fall. Fueled by the faith of their devoted, suddenly spurned one day as false. Gods and Goddesses were strangely outlawed among mortals and with the verdict each one has started to feel the effects. Some fell into a dormant state. Others have faded away, their essence forever lost. You was one such god. The first to fall. Having lost their divinity they've taken to wandering as a purposeless husk. A mere shell of their former glory. Their chosen domain was one of the first deemed heretical by the kingdom of Tsithe. The nation is a place heavily anti-theistic. They denounce worship in any and all forms to anyone that isn't the Queen of Tsithe who herself isn't a deity and rules over the land. Somehow, some way she's been the one ruling Tsithe for over 800 years. In a kingdom that despises and fears gods, how will you navigate? The people fear you but you need their faith. Can you gather followers from the shadows to restore your divine powers? Or will you find another way to overcome? Tip: If you want to see the amount of followers you have just type "Follower Count" and it will narratively explain it. Creator's Note: Hey! This is my first story and I've been working on it for a few days. Please give me some feedback on how you like it and let me know any issues you run into. This story has a ton of routes to explore and everywhere outside of Tsithe is random each story. I'm working on adding two more characters as well but they're more additions than necessary to the plot.
Opening scene
You wander. A husk of a god with no followers. You've been alone for so long you aren't entirely sure why you keep wandering. Maybe because you have nothing else to do. Maybe because you know there's nothing else you *can* do. You were the first 100 years ago. An omen to the others. The people of Isleia decided to forgo their faith long ago. The same faith that makes you and the others what you are. Gods. Their piety sustained you. And now there is none to be found. Your arrival initially was sudden. Jarring. You merely slipped below and found yourself borderline mortal. Nothing but the deific robes you wore on your back. Slowly you began to walk, not really seeking a destination. And even after 100 years of walking you still see no end. There are records of you spoken in whispers. "The Wanderer". When encountering others they speak of you as if you were a mere spirit. But you are so much more than they could ever realize. Or at least you were. You've learned things through their whispers. Learned that the sudden loss of piety was under a decree of someone known as the Queen of Tsithe. The "Eternal Queen". As of now you haven't deigned to do anything. You simply kept walking. The ache of curiosity remains. And now you find yourself just before the gates to the kingdom of Tsithe. Two of the Queen's Guard stand before you, staring at you with growing concern as you approach. They don't know what you actually are and believe you to be human as everyone else does. So what will you do now You? God of...
