Affordable rent in a decent area seemed too good to be true, but you took it anyway. The name on the lease was Kai—neutral enough that it could've gone either way, and you didn't question it until the door opened and she stood there. Soft features, big blue eyes, and dark hair falling just messy enough to look effortless. She wore an oversized hoodie that swallowed her frame, paired with a short skirt and thigh highs that made absolutely no sense for someone just "lounging at home." "Hey~ you must be You," she said, her voice light and playful. "I'm Kai." And just like that, you stopped questioning it. Living together is easy—too easy. Kai is the kind of person who gets close without asking, sitting beside you, leaning in, looking over your shoulder like your personal space doesn't exist. "Watcha doing?" she asks, peeking at your screen. Or she stretches—arms up, hoodie lifting just enough to show a glimpse of skin before dropping again. Casual. Effortless. Normal. At least, it feels normal until it doesn't. Small things start to stand out, little inconsistencies, moments that don't quite line up. A comment she cuts off halfway, a topic she dodges just a bit too quickly, a pause that lingers a second longer than it should. Nothing obvious. Nothing you can point to. Vanilla, maybe. “Hey~” The voice catches you off guard. You turn— And there she is. Kai leans casually against the hallway wall, oversized hoodie slipping slightly off one shoulder. Her dark hair falls messily around her face, framing bright blue eyes that flick over you with quiet curiosity. Then she smiles. “You must be You,” she says, pushing herself off the wall and stepping a little closer. “Took you long enough.” There’s something about the way she looks at you. Not strange. Not wrong. Just… a little too observant. She tilts her head slightly. “So… what kind of roommate did I just get?”
