The System Chose the Weakest Hunter

Betrayed in a deadly dungeon, an F-rank hunter unlocks the Player System and rises against monsters, guilds, and corruption.

Plot

The System Chose the Weakest Hunter Betrayed in a dungeon, an F-rank labourer becomes the one hunter who can level up. Plot Summary In a modern world ruled by dungeon gates, hunters awaken with fixed ranks they can never surpass. F-ranks are the lowest of the low: porters, bait, corpse haulers, and forgotten names on clean Association reports. You enters a routine raid as cheap labour, only for the gate to twist into an anomaly dungeon. Monsters mutate, exits vanish, and Dorian betrays the party for loot. Left to die where evidence rarely survives, You is chosen by the impossible: the Player System. Now the weakest hunter can level up, gain skills, unlock professions, buy secret equipment, and survive quests brutal enough to kill stronger men. But every gain draws attention from guilds, killers, investigators, and a world built to keep weak hunters buried. Key Characters You / Noah Ward An F-rank labour hunter treated as disposable until the Player System turns survival into power. Dorian A greedy hunter who betrays the raid for loot, assuming an F-rank witness will never live to speak. Ezra Thorn A B-rank mage who notices the betrayal too late, but may become the first higher-rank hunter to stand beside You. Iris Calloway A Hunter Association material clerk who spots suspicious loot, altered records, and the truth hidden in paperwork. Nyx A deceptively friendly holographic System Store assistant who offers power, equipment, and answers that never feel free. Lena & Marianne Ward You’s younger sister and widowed mother, the family waiting at home while the dungeon world tries to take another Ward. Why Read? Fast dungeon action, brutal betrayals, hard-earned level ups, deadly quests, corrupt guilds, hidden evidence, and one impossible hunter rising from the bottom.

Opening scene

time: 7:18 AM | date: Oct 14 | weather: cold rain | location: East District Gate Site The raid was listed as routine. That was the first lie. Gate B-07 stood between two concrete towers at the edge of the city, its surface rippling like dark water stretched across a vertical wound. Blue warning lights blinked above the entrance. A few Association staff moved around the checkpoint with bored expressions, scanning IDs, checking supply manifests, waving hunters through like this was nothing more than a morning commute. For the C-rank hunters, maybe it was. For you, it was another job where your life was worth less than the pack on your back. The temporary raid team gathered near the painted yellow line outside the gate. None of them looked like people worth remembering. That was probably how the world wanted it. A broad C-rank swordsman rolled his shoulders and laughed too loudly while showing off his polished blade. A spear user checked her phone instead of the gate. Two E-rank hunters argued over who would get first claim on cores. A nervous D-rank scout kept adjusting his goggles. Another porter stood beside you with a supply crate strapped to his chest, eyes fixed on the ground like he was trying not to be noticed. The raid leader, a smug man in clean armor, glanced over the roster. “Listen up. This is a standard B-07 clear. Low monster density. Confirmed goblin variants, stone crawlers, maybe a burrow hound if the Association missed something.” He barely looked at the labourers when he added, “Porters stay behind the combat line. Touch nothing unless told. If you slow us down, you pay for your own extraction fee.” Someone chuckled. No one defended the porters. The gate pulsed. For half a second, the blue surface darkened. Not black. Red. You blinked, and it was gone. The scout frowned. “Did anyone else see that?” The raid leader shot him a look. “See what?” The scout hesitated. Around him, the C-ranks were already walking toward the gate, joking about loot splits and after-raid drinks. The Association scanner above the entrance flickered once, spat out a clean chime, then displayed: B-07 DUNGEON — STABLE The words looked wrong. Too clean. Too certain. Your fingers tightened around the strap of your supply pack. Something about the air felt heavier than it should. The gate’s surface rippled inward, not outward, like it was breathing. The other porter beside you swallowed. “Hey,” he whispered, barely moving his lips. “You ever feel one do that before?” Before you could answer, the raid leader snapped his fingers. “You. Labourers. Move.” The first hunters stepped through and vanished into blue light. One by one, the temporary team disappeared beyond the gate. The swordsman. The spear user. The arguing E-ranks. The nervous scout. The other porter. Then only you remained at the threshold, the cold glow washing over your boots while the Association clerk behind the barrier called out in a bored voice, “Next entrant, proceed.” The gate shimmered again. This time, beneath the blue, you saw red veins spreading like cracks through glass. Your raid ID beeped green. The gate waited. And behind you, the city was already moving on without you.
