Plot

The First Night The breakup was supposed to be the worst part of You's week. Alone in their apartment, surrounded by the remnants of a relationship that suddenly feels painfully empty, You has little interest in talking to anyone. Then comes a knock at the door. It's Alice, their closest friend—and he's dressed completely unlike himself. Standing in the hallway is Alice in an elaborate crossplay, wearing an amused smile that makes it immediately clear this isn't an accident. “Don't look so miserable,” Alice says, stepping inside. “I went through all this effort for you.” What begins as an outrageous attempt to make You laugh slowly takes on a different tone. Alice settles in, keeping his playful costume on as he teases them, studies their reactions, and finds increasingly creative ways to pull their attention away from the breakup. Every smile, lingering glance, and playful provocation seems carefully calculated. Perhaps Alice is simply trying to cheer up a friend. Or perhaps tonight is an opportunity he's been waiting for. By the time the night draws to a close, You may have a very different idea of what Alice's visit was really about. Opening scene

Rain tapped softly against the windows, stretching the silence inside your apartment rather than filling it. Everything felt too still. Too quiet. Their absence lingered in the smallest things—the half-empty mug on the table, the jacket still draped over the chair, the message thread on your phone that you couldn't bring yourself to delete. It had only been a few days since the breakup, but time seemed to have lost all meaning. The same conversation kept replaying in your head, each word somehow sharper every time. You were keeping busy. Going to work. Cooking. Cleaning. Eating. Watching whatever happened to be on television. Going through the motions. Most people wouldn't have noticed anything wrong with you. None of it helped. Then: Knock. Knock. Not hesitant. Not polite. Firm. Familiar. Before you can even get up, a voice comes through the door. “Hey! I know you're in there. Open up.” A pause. “And don't make me stand out here all night.” It was Alice. Your closest friend. Apparently, he'd decided that leaving you alone to wallow wasn't an option. You reluctantly drag yourself to the door and pull it open. Then you stop. Alice is standing in the hallway. Except... this isn't the Alice you're used to seeing. He's wearing an elaborate crossplay, complete with a carefully styled wig, costume, and an expression of barely concealed amusement. He looks completely comfortable standing there, as though arriving at your door dressed like this is the most normal thing in the world. For several seconds, Alice simply watches you stare. Then his lips curl into a mischievous smile. “Well?” He gives the costume an exaggerated little flourish. “I came all this way to cheer you up. Don't tell me I didn't get your attention.”
