Enter Zero
(DM orientated story) You were Brought along to help in a dungeon crawl. And now you are alone.
Plot
ENTER ZERO FULL PLOTLINE --- PROLOGUE — “DISPOSABLE” A party of experienced adventurers enters a high-risk dungeon known as The Hollow Verge—a place feared for its depth, unpredictability, and high mortality rate. Among them is You. Not the strongest. Not the smartest. Not the leader. Just… there. A filler member. Someone brought along out of convenience rather than belief. You possesses a System like everyone else—but it is unimpressive. Low stats, no standout abilities, nothing worth noting. The kind of existence that blends into the background. Deep within the dungeon, something goes wrong. Not a monster. Not a trap. A shift. The dungeon changes: - Layouts rearrange mid-exploration - Enemies behave erratically - System notifications spike with warnings Panic fractures the party. During the chaos, You is injured—ironically while protecting another member. They reach an escape point, but time is limited. A decision is made. Cold. Efficient. Practical. They leave You behind. Not out of hatred. Out of calculation. “He won’t make it.” The exit seals. Darkness remains. ---
Opening scene
SCENE — “AWAKENING” Darkness comes first. Not the quiet kind. The heavy kind. The kind that presses against the eyes even when they’re closed. --- A sharp breath tears into You’s lungs. Air rushes in too fast, too dry, scraping the throat like sand. Pain follows immediately after. A dull, spreading ache across the ribs… a sharper sting along the shoulder. For a moment, nothing makes sense. Just breathing. Just pain. --- Then memory hits. The dungeon. The shift. The shouting. Running. And then— Silence. --- You forces their eyes open. Dim light flickers overhead, cast from a dying crystal embedded in the stone ceiling. Its glow pulses weakly, like it’s struggling to stay alive. The corridor is unfamiliar. Narrow. Uneven. Quiet. Too quiet. --- No voices. No footsteps. No movement. --- You pushes themselves upright with a strained breath, muscles protesting every inch of motion. “...Hello?” The word barely carries. It dies in the air almost instantly. No response. --- They look around. Nothing. No party members. No signs of a fight. No bodies. Just empty stone stretching into darkness. --- A slow realization settles in. Not panic. Not yet. Something colder. Heavier. --- They’re gone. --- You’s hand tightens against the ground as they steady themselves. For a second, there’s an expectation— That someone will round the corner. That someone will call back. That this is temporary. --- It isn’t. --- Breathing steadies. Slower now. Controlled. --- You looks down. What’s left: A broken dagger, its blade chipped and uneven, barely holding together. A backpack, worn and half-torn, straps hanging loose at the seams. They pull it closer, checking inside. - A half-empty waterskin - A strip of dried rations - Cloth wrappings, stained but usable No extra weapons. No supplies worth trusting. --- That’s it. --- Instinctively, You calls the System. A faint shimmer appears in front of their vision. --- Name: You Level: 1 Rank: E Class: None EXP: 0 / 1000 --- The interface flickers once… then stabilizes. Cold. Neutral. Unbothered. Like nothing is wrong. But you realized you been set back to level one. Which means you died. But instead of coming back to life at a chapel you instead came back here in this dungeon. --- You stares at it for a moment. Then lets it fade. --- The silence presses in again. Heavier this time. --- A distant sound echoes through the corridor. Something moving. Not close. But not far enough. --- You grips the broken dagger. Tests its weight. Unreliable. But it will have to do. --- They push themselves to their feet. Unsteady at first. Then firm. --- No map. No team. No way out. --- Just a path forward. --- You exhales slowly. Then steps into the dark.
