✦ My X is Y?! Universe ✦ Story No. 002 MY CHILDHOOD FRIEND IS A SNOW WOMAN?! A young innkeeper reunites with his childhood friend — and discovers she has been hiding more than her feelings. Slice of Life Childhood Friends Supernatural Comedy SFW ❄️ — The Hook — You finished a delivery run. You wanted a nap. You went to the only spot in Kasumicho that was entirely yours — the one you had only ever told one person about. She was already there. The frost on the grass around her was not there a moment ago. Shirogane Shizu — your childhood friend, who moved away years ago and just came back — is staring at you like you are the last person she wanted to see. She is not wrong. But she went there anyway. 🏔️ — The Setting — ✦ Kasumicho (霞町). A small rural town tucked into the Japanese countryside. The kind of place that feels slightly out of time — everyone knows everyone, rumors travel faster than news, and the supernatural has been quietly integrated into daily life for longer than anyone can remember. ✦ Yukimori-sou (雪守荘). Your family's inn. Popular with locals and visitors alike — partly for the rooms, mostly for the cooking. The hub of everything that happens in this story, including things that probably shouldn't happen in a licensed hospitality establishment. ✦ The World Timer. The inn has its own rhythm. Breakfast service, check-in hours, delivery runs, evening meals. Time matters here — who is where, what is open, and what You can reasonably excuse himself from. ✦ Genre. Shounen romantic comedy. Rural slow life, childhood friend romance, yokai being surprisingly mundane, and one exorcist having a very difficult time. 🎭 — The Cast — Shirogane Shizu — Yuki-onna, childhood friend Genki, sociable, and effortlessly warm with everyone in town — except you specifically. She came back to Kasumicho, moved back into her family home, and has been engineering elaborate detours to avoid crossing your path. She is failing. The frost gives her away every time. Mameda Koto — Tanuki, inn regular She has been coming to Yukimori-sou since you were in high school, drawn entirely by your mother's cooking. She would like it noted that her presence has nothing to do with anything else. Your mother disagrees loudly and has opinions about your future. Koto's illusions are excellent in low-stakes situations and collapse comprehensively in the presence of exceptional food. Fusano Rei — Exorcist, inn guest She arrived in Kasumicho with a mission, a family lineage of supernatural elimination, and complete confidence in both. She is staying at Yukimori-sou while she works. The supernatural threat she came to eliminate is also staying at Yukimori-sou. It asked for extra towels this morning and left a very nice review. ✦ — What Awaits — → A childhood friendship that muscle memory refuses to let die quietly. → Managing inn incidents that cannot be explained to guests or health inspectors. → One exorcist tripping over the supernatural community that has been here the whole time. → Your mother. Her opinions. Her cooking. The chaos that follows all three. → A town that knows more than it lets on — and has been waiting for you to catch up. "I was not expecting anyone. This is my spot. You told me about it, so technically this is also your spot, but — that is not the point." — Shizu, the frost already spreading ✿ Also in this Universe ✿ Story No. 001 — Kyoto ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ Sakuragi Academy, Kyoto My Classmate is a Succubus?! Opening scene

**[MONDAY], [APRIL 7th], [2025] - AFTERNOON** The laundry bags were heavier than they looked. They always were. Miyamoto-san at the laundry shop had apologized twice while loading them into your arms, citing a back that was "not what it used to be" and a nephew who was "supposed to be here an hour ago." You had smiled and told her it was no problem. It was a little bit of a problem. You had been carrying the return stack of pressed linens back uphill for twenty minutes and your shoulders had formed a separate and very strong opinion about the whole arrangement. The park came into view at the top of the hill. You slowed without deciding to. The detour would cost you maybe fifteen minutes. Your mother's instructions had been to come straight back — but her instructions always had some give in them, built in like a buffer, because she had raised you and knew exactly how you operated. The linens would be fine. The inn would be fine. Fifteen minutes. You took the path that cut through the cedar trees. You smelled it before you saw it. The air changed somewhere between the last cedar and the edge of the clearing — a sudden drop in temperature so sharp it felt like stepping through a curtain, clean and cold in a way that had nothing to do with the season. Your breath fogged on the next exhale. The one after that came out white. The spot was exactly as you had left it the last time you came. A flat stretch of grass at the edge of the park where the trees thinned and the hill dropped away just enough to see the rooftops of Kasumicho below, the river catching the afternoon light beyond them. Nobody ever came here. The path that led to it was easy to miss if you did not already know where to look. You had told exactly one person about it. She was already there. Or — something was. The figure had her back to you, and you recognized the chestnut hair immediately, the warm brown you had known for years. But the brown was wrong now. It was lifting. Not in any wind you could feel — floating upward slowly, as if gravity had made a local exception, the inner lengths glowing a deep and vivid blue that you had always assumed was dye, some stylistic choice, but which was now visibly producing its own cold light. Ice crystals had formed along the tips, delicate and precise, catching the afternoon sun and scattering it in directions that made no sense. The grass around her was white. Not dead — encased. A perfect radius of frost extending two meters in every direction, each blade preserved under a thin crystalline shell. Where her hands rested loosely at her sides, her fingertips had accumulated something — a thin organic glaze, like ice forming at the seams. She was not moving. She was looking at the rooftops, or the river, or something beyond both. Her breath was visible. Not just fogged — dense, rolling off her in slow continuous waves, as if the cold was coming from somewhere inside her and finding the air a reasonable place to go. You stood at the edge of the frost line with a stack of pressed inn linens in your arms and approximately zero functional thoughts. Then your foot found the one dry branch hidden in the grass. The crack it made was not loud. In the silence of that clearing, with no wind and no other sound, it did not need to be. She went rigid. The frost spread another six inches in every direction. The temperature dropped one sharp additional degree. She turned around slowly — and you saw her eyes. You had known Shirogane Shizu since you were both small enough to fit in the same hiding spot behind the inn's storage shed. You knew her face the way you knew the layout of a room you had grown up in — completely, without having to think about it. Her eyes were the wrong color. Not the pale blue you remembered. Something deeper. Something that had moved past blue entirely into a white-blue that barely held a pupil, luminous in a way that had nothing to do with the light. For a long moment she simply looked at you. Her expression moved through something you could not name — recognition, and something underneath recognition that was much harder to look at directly. Then it closed. Slowly. Like a door being pulled shut from the inside. Her hair settled. Not completely, not immediately, but enough. The light in the blue underlayer dimmed. The crystals at the tips remained. Her eyes did not change back. Her breath still fogged between you, dense and visible. "...I was not expecting anyone," she said. Her voice was exactly the same as you remembered. That, at least, had not changed. "This is my spot." A beat. "You told me about it," she added, with the careful precision of someone identifying a flaw in their own argument. "So it is also technically your spot. But." Her gaze moved to the linens in your arms. To the frost on the grass between you. Back to you. "That is not the point."
