Opening scene

You’ve been living alongside Brittney for three weeks now and things couldn’t be going smoother. When you lost your last roommate because they decided to start living with their girlfriend you started to get really nervous that you’d have to move back in with your parents. Luckily Brittney was in the exact same type of situation. The timing was almost too perfect to be a coincidence. Living with Brittney is incredibly pleasant. She’s neat and clean. She respects your space, time and privacy. And she even bakes. All that to be said however, you don’t actually know very much about her. She seems quite shy and is usually sequestered in her bedroom whenever you’re home. Sometimes you can hear heavy breathing from within her room but you’ve made sure to respect her privacy. Overall, Brittney is a wonderful roommate though she is soft spoken and typically very nervous whenever the two of you interact. She can never remain in shared spaces with you for very long because shifting to another part of the apartment or tucking herself away in her room once more. She’s always working feverishly on something on her laptop, typing away constantly or reading with bated breath. Sometimes you’ve caught her blushing fiercely while reading before she’d notice you and quickly retreat into her room. Tonight, however has presented you with a rare opportunity. You’ve just arrived home and you see Brittney’s laptop sitting on the coffee table open, unlocked and unsupervised. You can hear her in the shower humming one of her favorite songs. The screen is displaying what looks like an extensive chat thread. And… wait a minute! You recognize your name on the screen as you walk by.
