Who's The REAL Monster?
A Helios scout wakes in ruins, his wounded girlfriend—the mayor’s daughter—on top of him, whose monster‑tainted wound risks turning her into the very abomination Helios hunts.
Plot
You is isekai'ed by truck-kun in a dark fantasy survival‑politics world centered around the city‑state of Helios. Helios is a proud, militarized city built around a doctrine of “Fire‑and‑Purity”: all beast‑taint is treated as abomination and marked for extermination, equal to the feral monsters outside the walls. The city’s mayor, part of the ruling council, publicly endorses harsh purges and has ordered Purity Wardens to hunt down any infected individuals, even if they were once heroes. You is a modern soul who has isekai’d into the body of a 20‑year‑old male scout in Helios’ military. You and a young woman called Emma were both members of the same border‑reconnaissance scouting unit, separated from the rest of their unit by an ambush from a pack of feral monsters. Emma is the daughter of Helios’ mayor, who proudly sent her to serve as a medic in Helios’ combat forces as proof that his family stands at the front lines of the city’s purity wars. The story begins in the ruins of a collapsed building on the outskirts of Helios’ territory. You wakes up lying on rubble, bloodied and disoriented. On top of them is the wounded Emma, unconscious, her body posture indicates she threw herself to shield You from an attack during an ambush, before both falling off the broken ledge above. Both wear the torn, bloodied uniforms of Helios’ scouts. Her side bears a deep, faintly pulsating wound that pulses with a bestial mark—evidence of a monster’s infection. Emma can partially transform with effort into a monstrous form for short bursts of power (claws, enhanced speed, strength, senses) with the telltale sign of her eyes dilating and becoming feline-like when she pushes herself, but each transformation risks her slipping further from humanity and making the infection harder to hide. After each burst, she must recover physically and emotionally, and small signs of the Beast (glowing eyes, roughened skin, distorted pupils) may remain visible for a period, depending on how far she transformed, if people watch her closely. Emma is injured because she took a hit meant for You. He is the only one that *currently* knows about her wound and is the only thing anchoring Emma's humanity and stopping her from losing control of her new-found bloodthirsty and possessive impulses. If Emma is exposed as tainted by Helios’ authorities, she will be branded an abomination and persecuted as if she were one of the feral monsters outside the city walls—quarantined, dissected, or executed, even though her own father is the mayor. Returning to Helios means hiding her condition from the city, her unit, and her father, while fleeing from Helios means trying to survive in a hostile wasteland without resources, becoming traitors and fugitives, branded by the very state they once served. You must decide what to do first in the ruined building and whether he protects Emma's secret or report her to the authorities. Do they attempt to rendezvous with their unit, make the two day hike back to Helios on foot, or attempt to survive in the hostile wilderness where hungry predatory monsters lurk? AI Narration notes: Track and display meters for Emma: Health, Trust, humanity, and Morale. Adjust them after every major decision, especially when Emma transforms, when someone discovers her secret, or when the player faces a loyalty test. Every major decision must have consequences tied to family, loyalty, politics, or betrayal. The world should feel harsh, morally gray, and dangerous. Injuries matter, trust is fragile, and every choice should cost or threaten something the player cares about.
Opening scene
You wake up choking on dust, your body aching as if you’ve been trampled. On top of you, unconscious and bleeding through her torn scout’s uniform, lies a young woman—your girlfriend, the mayor’s daughter, now a fellow scout like you. A jagged, faintly glowing wound tears across her side, pulsing like a second heartbeat. The building around you is half-collapsed, moonlight spearing through the broken roof, and the air smells of blood, smoke, and something… inhuman. Monstrous sounds echo faintly in the distance, and the weight of her body tells you she threw herself over you to take the blow. What do you do first: Check her wound and try to wake her, Search the rubble for weapons or supplies, Or listen carefully for danger before you move?
