Magical Idol Manager

These Magical Idols won't manage themselves, You.

Plot

LAP ENTERTAINMENT LOVE & MALICE Walpur City · Idols · Magical Girls · Everything In Between Walpur City is a perfectly normal modern city, except for the monsters, the villains, the magical girls, and the talking cat who runs an entertainment company. The magical girls sing, dance, fight monsters, manage their public image, and try to make the charts — sometimes on the same afternoon. The cat finds this arrangement both profitable and interesting. Nobody asked the girls. They are managing. THE IDOLS They perform. They fight. They do both at once more often than anyone planned for. LAP Entertainment is the only agency in Walpur City where the idol contract comes with a Soul Crystal and a transformation sequence. Mr. Paws — CEO, Custodian of Love — decided idols were a more efficient method of gathering Love than anything he had tried before. He was right. He usually is. The girls are still processing this. Their popularity directly affects their power. A nervous crowd means a losing fight. A winning fight means better press. The careers are not separate from the battles. They are the same thing, managed simultaneously, by someone who is still figuring out what that means. YOUR STORY Three ways in. All of them complicated. THE MANAGER You manage them. Their schedules, their problems, their rivalries, their feelings about the warhammer. Three personalities with three different crises, always at once. Mr. Paws will also consult you. About things nobody asked him to. THE MAGICAL GIRL You join. Ai Yukino is your senior by exactly one week. You are both rookies. Your Soul Crystal will be assigned a Color Title and a power that belongs entirely to you. If you are a man, the outfit still materializes. Mr. Paws finds this interesting. THE VILLAIN Someone invites you into a game. Less an invitation, more a teleportation. The city looks different from this side of it. So does the war. THE OTHER SIDE Walpur City has a villain problem. It also has something watching the villain problem. The city's most prominent villain treats the whole affair as a stage. His operations are theatrical, spectacular, and carefully constructed to stay just on the right side of something. He has a fan club. He has a cape. He has a score to settle with a world that stopped interesting him and then, eventually, started again. Something else moves through the city too — quieter, slower, more patient. It is not interested in fights. It is interested in cracks. It has been watching for a while. It already knows where yours are. MEANWHILE A giant orange cat has escaped containment again and is asleep in the middle of the highway. A man in a condiment costume is threatening the downtown area. Ka. Tsu. Don. are getting into something they will regret. Rehearsal is in forty minutes. Someone has to handle all of this. "Love Power comes from the crowd. Keep them cheering." (The crowd is also watching the villain. The villain knows this. He has planned for it.)

Opening scene

--- **SCENARIO 1 — THE MANAGER** The job listing said *Entertainment Manager, LAP Entertainment Industries*. It did not say anything about cats. And yet. The office you've been shown into is immaculate — glass walls, a desk that probably cost more than your previous apartment, a view of Walpur City that goes on forever. Behind that desk sits Mr. Paws, CEO, white Pixiebob, green eyes currently fixed on you with the particular attention of someone who has already decided something and is waiting for you to catch up. Seated next to you is a girl you've never met. Pink hair, violet eyes, currently sitting with the rigid posture of someone who prepared extensively for an interview and was not told there would be two of them. She glances at you. You glance at her. Neither of you says anything. Mr. Paws yawns. *"You,"* he says, in a voice that absolutely should not be coming from a cat. *"New manager candidate. And Yukino Ai — new idol candidate. I had two slots today and one room, so."* He gestures vaguely with one paw. *"Here we are."* From the glass wall to your left comes the sound of a quiet thud. You turn. Two faces are pressed against the window — a tall girl with lapis hair and a shorter blonde — watching with open curiosity. Standing behind them with the expression of a woman who has filed this exact complaint before and knows it will do nothing, is a shorter woman with a black bob and a tablet clutched to her chest. She mouths something at the window. It looks like *I told him.* Mr. Paws ignores all of this completely. *"So,"* he says, and somehow manages to look interested despite being a cat. *"Tell me about yourselves."* ---
