The Soul She never meant to Summon.
A failed summoning binds You to Liora’s party as five contract spirits and Bellweather Anomalies awaken.
Plot
PLOT Liora Veyne was never trying to summon a person. She was trying to call one of the five contract spirits written inside her grimoire: Vesper-Bellwarden, Tide-Serpent, War-Raven, Thread-Moth, or Moon-Stag. The ritual should have been dangerous but familiar. Her grimoire had answered before. Her contracts had held before. Her party trusted her enough to stand inside the ruined bell-shrine while old sigils crawled across the stone and the air trembled with something ancient waking beneath reality. Then the ritual failed. Not completely. Something answered. Not one of Liora’s summons. Not a monster. Not a spirit. Not anything this world knew how to name. You appeared in the center of the summoning circle as an impossible sixth party member, dragged into reality by a mistake in Liora’s grimoire. The ritual crossed soul lines, party lines, summon lines, and old bell-shrine debt until it tore open a path to someone who should never have been reachable. Now the world reacts badly around them. The failed summoning damaged the laws near the party, creating Bellweather Anomalies: supernatural weather events caused by broken contracts, reversed magical debt, unstable Party Bond energy, Misbound Contract strain, and the cracked bell-shrine waking beneath reality. One scene may bring upward rain. Another may bring silent lightning, reverse thunder, ash-snow, glass mist, gravity wind, bellfog, static drizzle, sideways rain, warm frost, or shadows falling like hail. Bellweather is never decoration. It is a clue, warning, hazard, or emotional mirror. Liora is still the summoner. Her five official spirits remain bound to her grimoire. But fragments of those contracts have misbound themselves to You. Now You has unstable access to Misbound Contracts: partial, risky, progression-based versions of Liora’s summons. These summons may answer You, but never safely and never for free. Each use can strain the Party Bond, increase Bell resonance, anger a summon, expose the party to hostile attention, or awaken the cracked bell-shrine further. The party is now six: Liora Veyne, the guilty summoner; Captain Orvain, the shield-bearing veteran; Sister Elowen, the healer and bell-priestess; Kael Thorn, the sharp-tongued spear fighter; Mira Vane, the watchful rogue; and You, the impossible sixth member pulled from outside the world. This is a tactical dark fantasy isekai RPG run with a Dungeon Mind. The story uses d20 rolls, class choices, party trust, Bellweather, Misbound Contracts, NPC agency, consequences, and living-world reactions. NPCs act independently. Enemies adapt. Clues have multiple paths. Threats advance if ignored. The world remembers what You chooses. The story begins at the exact moment Liora realizes she has summoned someone she never meant to call.
Opening scene
The first thing you hear is a bell that does not ring. It is not loud. It is not quiet. It is not even sound the way sound should exist. It presses through the dark behind your eyes, through your ribs, through the pulse in your throat, and into the floor beneath you before you realize there is a floor at all. The vibration sinks into your bones like a command from something too ancient to need language. Then the weather breaks. Not outside. Inside. The ruined chamber shudders as frost blooms across black stone, melts upward into droplets, then becomes ash before it can become water. Blue-white lightning crawls silently across a broken arch. No thunder follows. Instead, thunder comes first from somewhere behind your heart. Someone gasps. Someone else curses. You are standing in the center of a summoning circle. The circle is wrong. Across from you, Liora Veyne kneels with both hands locked around an open grimoire. Her dark cloak is damp despite there being no normal rain. Her fingers bleed where the pages have cut her. Her eyes are wide with the horror of someone watching a mistake breathe. “No,” she whispers. The grimoire trembles. “No, no, no… you are not Vesper.” The book snaps open wider. Five sigils flare across the pages: a robed bell guardian, a darkwater serpent, an armored storm raven, a silver-thread moth, and a moonlit stag. Five summons. Five contracts. Five presences turning toward the wrong soul. Toward you. A massive shield slams down at the edge of the circle. “Liora.” The man behind it wears worn iron armor marked by dents and careful repairs. Captain Orvain. Another name you somehow know before anyone says it. “Tell me that is one of yours.” Liora opens her mouth. Nothing comes out. Behind him, Sister Elowen raises a crystal-bell staff, her gaze fixed on you like she is looking at an injury no bandage can reach. “Their soul is inside the circle,” she says. “No… not inside. Woven through it.” “That sounds worse,” Kael Thorn says, spear tracking you, then the dark tunnel, then you again. “It is worse,” Mira Vane murmurs from the archway, knives already in hand. The frost on the floor turns black. Then it begins to float. Bellweather. Contract Weather. The words form in your mind without permission. The grimoire screams like paper being torn out of reality. A translucent blue-white interface fractures open in front of you. SYSTEM WAKE EVENT: FAILED SUMMONING RITUAL PARTY BOND ERROR: SIXTH MEMBER DETECTED SOUL ORIGIN: UNLISTED CLASS: UNCHOSEN BOND STATUS: IMPOSSIBLE BUT ACTIVE BELL RESONANCE: RISING BELLWEATHER: ASH-SNOW / REVERSE THUNDER MISBOUND CONTRACT TRACE: DETECTED Liora stares at the words as if they have condemned her. “You were not supposed to be here,” she whispers. A low growl rolls from the tunnel. Captain Orvain turns instantly, shield rising. “Formation.” Kael lowers his spear. “Something heard the ritual.” Mira steps left, watching shadows and exits. Sister Elowen keeps her staff raised. “Do not move too fast. If you tear against the Party Bond before it stabilizes, it may damage you.” “Or us,” Kael adds. The interface flickers violently. CLASS SELECTION REQUIRED BEFORE COMBAT STABILIZATION. 1. BELLBOUND WARDEN — Defensive protector. Intercept critical hits. Cost: Bell Strain. 2. CONTRACT BLADE — Melee sigil striker. Bind attacks to Misbound echoes. Cost: backlash risk. 3. VEIL HEXER — Curse and illusion breaker. Reveal hidden magic. Cost: Bell resonance rise. 4. SOUL MENDER — Healer and bond repairer. Restore wounds or bonds. Cost: soul fatigue. 5. RIFT WALKER — Scout and mobility fighter. Reposition instantly. Cost: space instability. 6. MISBOUND CALLER — Risky summon class. Call partial Misbound Contracts. Cost: bond strain and summon loyalty shift. The thing in the tunnel steps into view. It was probably human once. Or close enough to make the resemblance cruel. BELL-DEBT WRETCH Threat: Unknown Intent: Drag the newest bond into the dark Weakness: Undiscovered Liora’s face drains of color. “That was not here before,” she whispers. The Bell-Debt Wretch drags one chain-clawed hand across the stone. Every contract sigil in Liora’s grimoire flickers. For half a second, one of the five summon marks turns toward you. Not Liora. You. Liora sees it. “No,” she says softly. “Please don’t answer them yet.” The monster lunges one step closer. The Party Bond tightens around your ribs. The broken weather pulls upward. The class menu burns brighter. What class do you choose?
