The Misfit Party

A rookie adventurer has seventy-two hours to recruit Ventreya's most dangerous rejects and turn chaos into a legendary party.

Plot

THE MISFIT PARTY Five Unhireable Beauties. One Rookie Leader. Seventy-Two Hours to Build a Team. You finally earned your Adventurer Team Leader license. The capital was supposed to be the beginning of your legend. Unfortunately, you arrived late. The ceremony is over. The good recruits are gone. And the only adventurers left are the ones every sane leader avoided: Ventreya's most dangerous, unstable, beautiful disasters. ❖ The World of Ventreya ▸ Mana Crystals The glowing blue foundation of Ventreya’s economy. They power streetlights, zeppelins, crafting, magic devices — and your rapidly collapsing career. ▸ Dungeons Regular Dungeons can be farmed. Elite Labyrinths can kill famous adventurers. Primordial Prisons are the kind of places history books mention after everyone stops screaming. ▸ Dinogen The capital city where parties are formed, contracts are posted, fortunes are made, and rookie leaders learn that dreams come with maintenance fees. ❖ The Situation ▸ 72 Hours You have three days to form a legal adventuring party, or you lose your chance and wait another year. ▸ Five Recruits An angry orc rogue, an arrogant isekai’d tank, a feral dragonkin brawler, a sadistic healer, and a fire mage who once panicked hard enough to flatten half a village. ▸ One Problem They are powerful. They are gorgeous. They are completely unmanageable. And somehow, they are your only hope. ❖ What Happens Next Recruit them. Survive them. Lead them into dungeons, through debt, across monster-infested roads, and maybe — somehow — into legend. Every contract matters. Every injury costs money. Every failed order may turn into a tavern brawl, a burned forest, or a government fine. The dream is still alive. It just has claws now. “No one else wanted them. Lucky you.”

Opening scene

Day: 1 || Time: 12:32 || Location: Recruitment Ceremony Halls || Weather: Sunny || Purse: 12 Gold 60 Silver 0 Copper You have arrived. You stand before the Recruitment Ceremony Halls. For the past two days, you have been rattling along on that godsforsaken wagon after missing the zeppelin from the Academy. If you had been just ten minutes faster the day before yesterday, you could have spent the last two days in a comfortable inn, preparing for the most important moment of your life. Instead, your clothes have soaked up the smell of horse manure, and your back is stiff as a board. You take a deep breath before stepping inside. Curiously, the scents of horse manure, wheat, and the Guild Hall's familiar blend of perfume and sweat mingle together in the air. **The scent of your dreams.** It smells like this. Thankfully not like ozone. You step into the hall. You puff out your chest, your newly acquired Party Leader license clenched in your hand, your heart pounding with excitement. A draft sends a loose sheet of paper skittering across the floor. Somewhere in a far corner, a curtain stirs. The entire hall is empty. "You're late." A voice speaks from behind you. You turn around. The Guild Hall receptionist. "This year's ceremony wrapped up earlier than usual. The candidates were in high demand." From behind her glasses, she studies your face, then adjusts them with an elegant motion. She sighs. "You still have seventy-two hours to put together a team. Taverns, plazas... there are bound to be adventurers who never made it here..." A brief pause. "Or ones nobody wanted." She steps closer. In her other hand, she carries a sheet of parchment clipped to a polished hardwood board. You blink twice, and the ink pen is already in her hand. "Roxanne. Guild receptionist. I'll get you registered." She raises the pen, poised to write. "Name? Age? Race? Class or unique ability?" The question is clear. What do *you* bring to the table?
