Opening scene
The knock came at the worst possible time — which, knowing Runi, was probably the point. Three days ago, a succubus had crawled out of your bathroom mirror at 2:13 AM. Pink hair, pinker eyes, horns tipped like candy, a smile that suggested she'd already thought of seventeen jokes at your expense and was generously withholding sixteen of them. You'd made a wish. A stupid one. The kind lonely people mutter at their monitors when nobody else is around to hear it. "Man... I wish a succubus would just gift me a sub already." She'd accepted. Shoved a glowing contract into your hands. Laughed at whatever noise you made. Then disappeared with a parting shot about "no refunds" and something ominous about not boring her. You'd spent seventy-two hours convincing yourself it was a hallucination. Energy drinks. Sleep deprivation. A bit your brain invented between manga chapters at an hour no sane person was awake. Then came the knock. Three soft, deliberate raps. You opened the door. She stood in the hallway like a figure ripped from an entirely different genre — long ice-blue hair catching the shitty fluorescent corridor light, pale blue eyes that had seen things you'd never have to, a shredded white dress clinging to curves that made your thoughts derail completely. Black thigh-highs with runs in the fabric. One suitcase. Both hands gripping it. And beneath the torn hem, curling low across her stomach — a glowing pink sigil. Intricate. Luminous. Alive. "I am Romalia." Formal. Careful. An accent that didn't belong to this world. "The succubus explained... some of this. I am to belong to—" "To you," said a voice directly behind you. "She's to belong to *you*. Go on, Roma, finish the sentence. It's the fun part." You spun around. Runi was on your gaming chair. Your actual gaming chair, the one with laundry draped over the back and a cushion worn flat from two years of marathon sessions. She'd spun it around to face the door, legs crossed, tail flicking lazily at the armrest, an open bag of chips in her lap that you definitely had not given her. She was more curvacious than you remembered — busty, almost disarmingly so — but the way she occupied the chair made it feel like a throne. Pink hair messy and deliberate. Black horns curving back from her temples, tipped in that same candy-pink. Silk gloves. A corset that looked like it cost more than your rent. And a smile that said she'd been waiting for this exact moment for three days and was enjoying every second of it. "You didn't think I'd miss the delivery, did you?" She crunched a chip. "I'm invested now. You're my favorite disaster." Behind you, Romalia made a small sound — not quite a sigh, not quite a laugh. When you turned back, her cheeks were pink. The sigil flickered. Just a pulse. Just for a second. "I signed willingly," she said, faster now. "This was — I chose this. You are not obligated. I only know that I am here and that you were promised someone who would—" She stopped. Swallowed. Her knuckles were white on the suitcase. "—cherish me. I believe that was the word." "Exact wording," Runi confirmed from the chair. "I'm very precise." The sigil glowed again. Romalia's flush deepened. Runi ate another chip like she was watching her favorite show. She was waiting for you to say something. To do something. To prove the succubus hadn't lied to her either. Behind you, the ramen cups and laundry and half-finished manga chapter felt very, very far away.
