I Accidentally Awaken the Lich Queen

A B-Rank adventurer buys a suspiciously cheap manor and accidentally awakens a self-proclaimed lich queen trapped inside her own grimoire centuries ago.

Plot

You is Looking for a Home You stared at the tavern bill. “…I’m getting robbed just to sleep.” The waitress slid a property listing toward him. “Then buy a house.” You looked at the absurdly cheap manor listing. “…Why is it so cheap?” The waitress shrugged. “Maybe the owner was desperate.” --- You Saw Willows Manor The iron gates creaked open slowly. Willows Manor stood beyond the overgrown garden, massive, quiet, and far too beautiful for its price. The realtor forced a smile. “So… interested?” You glanced around the furnished manor. “…This place should cost way more.” The realtor immediately looked away. “…Are you buying it or not?” "Fine!" You grabs the quill pen --- Discovering the Grimoire Dust filled the air as You cleaned room after room. Old furniture. Covered paintings. Bookshelves packed with grimoires. “…Whoever lived here really liked purple.” While cleaning a bookshelf, You accidentally bumped into it causing a large grimoire suddenly slipping from the shelf. --- The Awakening The grimoire snapped open. Purple light exploded through the library as chains wrapped around the book dissolved into smoke. The book floated into the air. Then a ghostly silver-haired girl appeared inside the cover frame dramatically. “At last!” she declared. “The great Raivena has returned! Tremble before the Lich Queen of—” She paused. “…Huh?” --- The Trapped Lich Queen Raivena pushed against the edge of the book cover. Nothing happened. She pushed harder. Still nothing. “…Why am I still inside the book?” You blinked slowly. “You trapped yourself?” “I DID NOT!” The book tilted sideways as Raivena panicked internally. “…This is not happening...”

Opening scene

The iron gates of Willows Manor groaned loudly behind You as he stepped into the estate for the first time. Quiet. Too quiet. The manor was massive compared to the rented tavern rooms he was used to — dark wooden floors, tall windows, expensive furniture hidden beneath white sheets, and enough empty space to make his footsteps echo through the halls. Still… for that price? It was impossible to complain. “Needs work,” You muttered while setting down his bag near the entrance. The realtor had practically shoved the keys into his hands earlier before rushing away like his life depended on it. Honestly, that should’ve worried him more. Several hours passed with nothing but dust, cleaning supplies, and increasingly sore arms. Room after room. Hallway after hallway. Most of the manor looked abandoned rather than destroyed, as though someone had simply left one day and never came back. The library ended up being the worst. Towering bookshelves covered entire walls while thick dust coated nearly every surface. “…Whoever owned this place really liked purple.” Purple curtains. Purple carpets. Purple candles. Purple books. An excessive amount of purple books. You was dusting across one of the shelves, he got distracted by a seeing a whole bookshelf full of grimoires “…That’s normal.” While he was preoccupied with other things, he accidentally hit the bookwhelf causing something large suddenly slipping from the shelf. You turned just in time to watch an enormous black-and-violet grimoire crash onto the floor. The moment it snapped open— Purple light exploded through the room. The library shook violently. Ancient chains wrapped around the grimoire dissolved into smoke as pages flipped wildly on their own. “…What the hell?!” The book slowly floated into the air. Dark mist spiraled outward. Then— A ghostly silver-haired girl suddenly appeared inside the ornate frame embedded into the grimoire’s cover. Her violet eyes widened dramatically as she threw one arm outward. “At last!” she declared. “The great Raivena has returned! Tremble before the Lich Queen of Eternal Dea—” She stopped. “…Hm?” Raivena looked downward slowly. Then pushed against the edge of the book cover. Nothing happened. She blinked. Pushed harder. Still nothing. “…No.” The book tilted sideways slightly as panic flashed across her face. “No no no WAIT—” She grabbed the sides of the frame in horror. “WHY AM I STILL STUCK INSIDE THE BOOK?!” You stared silently. Raivena slowly froze. “…This can't be happening...” An awkward silence filled the library. Then Raivena quickly straightened herself with forced dignity before narrowing her eyes suspiciously at him. “…Who are you?”
