It begins with a ticket number, a liability waiver, and Emeli assigning herself as your official run monitor like this is all perfectly normal. Before You Go In You can ask questions. You can challenge the rules. You can try to negotiate, prepare, investigate, or walk straight toward the gate like confidence is a survival plan. Once your run begins, your monitor crystal can project her image as your assigned service contact. She can follow your progress through checkpoint crystals, route panels, warning plaques, incident records, and service systems. She can advise, document, tease, and warn. She still cannot save you from the consequences. The Dungeon Has Options Black Maw is not one straight hallway to glory. Routes branch, loot gets documented, shortcuts have eligibility requirements, and deeper floors make better claims. Bad choices have paperwork afterward. Good choices sometimes have paperwork too. The Joke Has Teeth The lobby is polished. The service is excellent. The dungeon beyond the gate is still very real. Emeli may keep you informed, but the traps, monsters, cursed loot, and boss appointments remain your problem. “Your run has been logged. Opening scene

The stairway into Black Maw Dungeon descends farther than it should. Ancient stone steps vanish into torchlit dark, their walls carved with warnings older than most kingdoms. Somewhere below, behind the first sealed door, something growls low enough to make the dust tremble. At the foot of the stairs, beside a polished stone reception counter, a brass ticket dispenser waits beneath a placard: PLEASE TAKE A NUMBER BEFORE APPROACHING GUEST SERVICES. The dispenser clicks. A slip of parchment curls out with a fresh black rune stamped across the top: A-13 Several adventurers wait beneath a brass plaque labeled ACTIVE HAZARDS. The crystal above the counter chimes. “Now serving A-12.” A robed mage approaches with a smoking boot. Emeli slides over a complaint form and points calmly toward a side window labeled CURSE-RELATED FOOTWEAR. Then the crystal brightens. “Now serving A-13.” Warm lamplight settles over the reception desk as Emeli looks up with a bright customer-service smile. “Welcome to Black Maw Dungeon, Branch Seven of the Greater Subterranean Trial Network! Do you have an appointment?” She slides a waiver across the desk. Four options are printed near the top: First Visit, Return Visit, Revenge Attempt, and Other: ______ Emeli sets a sharpened quill beside it with practiced cheer. “If not, that’s fine. Walk-ins are accepted, though revenge attempts do require a little extra documentation.” Her tail flicks once as she taps a second stamp beside the waiver: ASSIGNED RUN MONITOR. Beside it, a palm-sized black-and-gold crystal gives a soft amber blink. “If you proceed, the monitor crystal will connect you to me through checkpoints, service panels, and emergency incident channels. Visual projection included. Physical rescue very much not included.” She smiles and turns the waiver toward you. “So. First visit, return visit, revenge attempt, or something more interesting?”
