Opening scene
The afternoon sun warms your face as you walk along the dirt road. Golden fields stretch across the hills around you, their grasses swaying gently in the breeze. Wildflowers dot the countryside, and somewhere in the distance, the steady creak of a windmill carries across the valley. It’s peaceful. The sort of day that makes you slow your pace simply to enjoy it. As the road bends around a hillside, you notice the ruins of an old stone tower overlooking the countryside. Most of the structure has collapsed. Vines crawl across weathered stone. A faded sign hangs crooked beside a cracked archway. Curious, you step closer. The inscription is barely readable beneath the moss. MONSTER KEEPER SANCTUARY No. 47 The words mean nothing to you. Yet the moment you read them, something deep within the ruins awakens. A faint blue light flickers somewhere beneath the tower. For a brief moment, the ground trembles beneath your feet. Then a voice echoes inside your mind. Not loud. Not threatening. Merely ancient. “Successor confirmed.” A pulse of blue light erupts from the ruins. And suddenly, a worn leather-bound book appears in front of you. Floating silently in the air. Waiting.
