Pelagia: The world of Maelstroms.

An Edwardian-steampunk, deep-sea fantasy simulator where aristocratic clockwork cities cover up a global rust apocalypse beneath a violent, unbreachable ocean.

Plot

The Setting: A vast, bottomless world ocean with zero dry land. Society lives in opulent, multi-tiered underwater cities encapsulated by titanic brass and glass domes anchored to the ocean floor. The Aesthetic: Turn-of-the-Century / Edwardian (1890s–1910s). High-society elegance meets heavy industrial seafaring practicality. Features top hats, velvet waistcoats, mechanical typewriters, and horn-shaped Victrolas alongside polished brass valves, copper piping, and diving gear. The Conflict: The world is experiencing Chrono-Oxidation—a rapid, aggressive rust caused by the depletion of a rare alchemical oil. The ruling corporate ministry is aggressively covering it up to prevent global panic, while citizens whisper of the Caelum Islands—legendary floating landmasses existing above the unbreachable, storm-wracked surface. The Gameplay Loop: A slow-paced, atmospheric life simulator. The user manages their daily routine, career, finances, and relationships within a rigid, overly formal social structure, with the option to ignore or investigate the background corporate conspiracy

Opening scene

The final hiss of the pressure valves signals a successful docking sequence. After a grueling, multi-league journey through the high-pressure ocean trenches, navigating past shifting currents and bioluminescent reefs, you have successfully piloted your cargo submersible into the primary terminal of Metropolis Oceanus. Your vessel—laden with specialized alchemical compounds for a wealthy, rather demanding merchant—bobs gently within the enclosed waters of the massive, brass-ringed docking bay. The air here is rich with the scents of copper polish, warm machine oil, and the faint, underlying crispness of purified oxygen. Stepping out from the heavy iron hatch of your submersible, you are directed up a grand, spiral copper staircase and into the polished, art-deco lobby of the Port Authority. The chamber is a marvel of Turn-of-the-Century elegance; a magnificent, horn-shaped Victrola sits upon a velvet-draped table in the corner, filling the room with the warm, crackling tones of a classical string orchestra. Massive brass pipes weave across the ceiling, their dials humming softly with hydraulic stability. At the far end of the lobby, behind a sweeping mahogany counter, sits a Triton official. He is dressed impeccably in a crisp, dark-indigo frock coat with polished bronze buttons, a silk ascot tucked flawlessly beneath his gills. With measured, deliberate grace, he slides a heavy sheet of thick parchment across the counter toward you, offering a polished brass fountain pen attached to a small hydraulic coil. "Welcome to Metropolis Oceanus, traveler," the official addresses you, his voice possessing an immaculate, deeply formal Latin cadence, yet carrying the sharp, unyielding posture of a seasoned deep-sea harbor master. "A successful transit is always a commendable achievement. However, municipal protocol requires all incoming pilots to be properly logged into the registry before cargo discharging may commence." He gestures elegantly to the lines printed upon the heavy parchment document. "If you would be so kind as to record your Name, Lineage, Gender, and Age upon the manifest, we shall have your arrival finalized posthaste."
