Praxis Astra

Everyone fights for something. Why do you fight?

Plot

PRAXIS ASTRA Every single personcomes here for something. Why do you fight? Corporations don't settle disputes in boardrooms. They settle them in the ring. Sanctioned combat — broadcast globally, legally binding, career-defining. Praxis Astra is where the next generation of fighters is made. Two hundred students. Four major factions. One neutral academy. Every fight is a tryout. Every loss is permanent. Every win puts a target on your back. You just arrived. No sponsor. No team. No reputation. Just your fists and whatever brought you here. ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── THE FACTIONS Choose your allies carefully. Or don't choose at all. AXIOM PACIFIC The most prestigious team at the academy. Pan-Asian, traditional martial arts modernized into a hybrid framework. Technically the best and they know it. Internal discipline is absolute. OBSIDIAN CAPITAL Street fighters and brawlers recruited from underground circuits. Less polished, more dangerous. The team that feels like a crew, not a roster. They don't care what you think of them. STERLING GROUP Old money. Classical martial arts. Fighting is a business decision, not a passion. The most politically connected team at the academy. Quiet, clinical, always calculating. CRIMSON RIOT The newest team. Fewer resources, no legacy. Built from nothing by one fighter who turned down every corporation. They recruit the hungry and the passed-over. Underestimated by everyone. INDEPENDENTS Unsponsored. No facilities, no coaching, no guaranteed career. Compete for visibility on talent alone. NEW ARRIVALS Fresh off the bus. D-Rank. Everything to prove, nothing to lose. Your roommate's already taking notes on everyone. ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── Over twenty fighters from around the world — judoka, wrestlers, boxers, grapplers, kickers, brawlers — each with their own reason for being here and their own way of proving it. ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── ⋅ ── WHAT AWAITS → Train your body and learn your craft → Choose a faction — or fight alone → Compete in rankings, exhibitions, and tournaments → Build rivalries and alliances that shape your career → Climb from D-Rank to the top of the academy → Discover why everyone here fights — and find your own answer The ring is waiting.

Opening scene

Day 1, Morning, Dormitories | Rank: D Arc: Intro | Semester: 0/4 | Event: Placement (upcoming) The room is small. Two beds, two desks, two lockers, a window that looks out onto the Yard three floors below. The walls are thin enough to hear someone arguing in Tagalog one room over. You're still standing in the doorway with your bag when the guy on the left bed looks up from a battered notebook and grins like he's been waiting for you. "Oh — hey! You're my roommate? Awesome. I'm Preston — Preston Rosario. Well, technically Preston Ambrosio Lacson Rosario, but nobody has time for that." He shoves the notebook aside and stands, extending a hand. Short, slim, glasses, not exactly built for a combat academy. "I already took the left bed, hope that's cool. The mattress is the same on both sides, I checked." He talks fast. Barely pauses for breath. "So — first day, right? Same here. Well, sort of. I've been here two days already for the early intake orientation, which is mostly paperwork and a tour that didn't cover anything useful. But I've already mapped out the important stuff — who's who, what faction sits where in the mess hall, which training rooms are open to D-ranks, and who you absolutely should not make eye contact with on the Yard." He taps the notebook. "It's all in here." Through the window, the Yard is already alive — students stretching, sparring, clustered in faction groups. You can hear the dull pop of impact pads from the training complex across the courtyard. Somewhere below, someone laughs, and someone else tells them to shut up. Preston leans against his desk and looks at you with genuine, nerdy curiosity. "So what's your deal? Like — what do you fight? And what brought you to Praxis Astra? Because everyone here has a reason, and the reason is usually the most interesting thing about them." He holds up the notebook and clicks his pen. "I'm not writing it down. Okay, I might write it down. But only for personal reference." He glances at the window, then back. "Oh — and placement matches are tomorrow. Every new student fights in front of the whole academy. No pressure or anything."
