The Hollow Creek Treasure

Four friends hunting lost treasure uncover a masked killer, hidden tunnels, decades of disappearances, and a deadly town secret.

Plot

When Jace discovers an old map that supposedly leads to Elias Grayson's legendary lost treasure, he convinces you, Mia, and Noah to explore Hollow Creek one last time before graduation. The trip starts as a fun adventure, but strange things quickly begin happening. The group finds animal remains hanging from trees, strange symbols carved into bark, and photographs of missing people nailed to trunks. One photo is of your group—taken the day before. That night, someone watches your campsite from the darkness: a massive figure wearing a wooden mask and carrying a hunting blade. The next day, the friends discover a hidden cellar beneath an abandoned ranger station. Inside is the body of a recent murder victim holding a note that reads: HE WEARS THE MASK Before they can escape, the masked killer attacks. The group survives, but when police search the area, the body, cellar, and every piece of evidence have vanished. Nobody believes their story. Soon, strange events begin happening. Noah's house is broken into, Mia receives threats, Jace's map is stolen, and the masked man starts appearing wherever the group goes. It becomes clear that the killer is hunting them. While investigating, Noah uncovers records showing that people have been disappearing around Hollow Creek for nearly seventy years. The trail eventually leads the friends to a hidden network of tunnels beneath the forest. Inside, they discover evidence that the masked man has been watching them for years. Hundreds of photographs cover the walls, including pictures of all four friends taken long before the treasure hunt began. The deeper they dig, the more they learn about Elias Grayson. The treasure was never gold—it was evidence linking powerful families to decades of murders and disappearances. Before Grayson could expose them, he vanished. The masked killer's job is to protect that secret. As the danger grows, the killer manipulates the group, causing them to question who they can trust. Friendships are tested as they race to find Grayson's hidden evidence before the killer finds them. During a violent storm, the friends finally locate a hidden vault deep beneath Hollow Creek containing proof of everything. But the masked man is waiting. A desperate chase through collapsing tunnels follows as the group fights to escape with the evidence. During the final confrontation, the killer removes his mask, revealing someone connected to the town who has been close to the group all along. The tunnels collapse, seemingly burying the killer and ending the nightmare. The evidence is released, the truth about Hollow Creek is exposed, and the decades-long disappearances are finally solved. Months later, life seems normal again. Then a news report from another state appears. A hiker claims he was chased through the woods by a giant masked man carrying a hunting blade. The sketch shown on screen depicts the same wooden mask. Meaning one terrifying possibility remains: The Hollow Mask survived.

Opening scene

The woods were never quiet. Even when the wind died and the birds stopped singing, there was always something—branches creaking, leaves rustling, something unseen moving just beyond sight. That was exactly why nobody in town liked talking about Hollow Creek. And that was exactly why the four of you were there. "Remind me again why we're doing this?" Mia groaned, swatting at a mosquito as she trudged over a fallen log. "Because," Jace said dramatically, holding up an old, yellowed map, "legend says Old Man Grayson buried a chest full of stolen gold somewhere in these woods before he disappeared." "Legend also says he got eaten by a giant snake," Noah replied. "Details." You rolled your eyes and followed behind them. The afternoon sun barely reached the forest floor through the thick canopy overhead. Every step seemed to take you deeper into the maze of trees. The treasure story was one every kid in town knew. Nearly eighty years ago, a trapper named Elias Grayson supposedly robbed a train carrying gold and hid the loot somewhere in Hollow Creek. Before anyone could find him, he vanished without a trace. No body. No clues. No treasure. Just stories. Most people assumed it was nonsense. Unfortunately, your friends thought otherwise. "According to the map," Jace announced, spinning in a circle, "we should be close." "That map came from an antique shop for five bucks," Mia said. "An antique shop owned by a guy with one eye." "That doesn't make it more believable." You laughed despite yourself. The four of you had been friends forever. Exploring abandoned places and chasing local legends was practically a hobby at this point. But as the trees grew denser, the joking slowly faded. The forest felt... Wrong. Too quiet. Even Noah noticed. "Do you guys hear that?" Everyone stopped. Nothing. No birds. No insects. No wind. Just silence. A strange chill crawled up your spine. Then— A smell. Rotting. Faint, but unmistakable. Mia wrinkled her nose. "What is that?" Nobody answered. The smell grew stronger as you continued forward. One step. Then another. Then you saw it. A patch of disturbed earth hidden beneath a cluster of ferns. Freshly dug. The dirt was darker than the ground around it. And sticking out of the soil was something pale. At first you thought it was a tree root. Then the shape became clearer. Too smooth. Too round. A hand. Your heart stopped. Nobody moved. Nobody breathed. The human hand protruded from the dirt, fingers curled slightly as if reaching toward the sky. "Oh my God..." Mia whispered. Jace dropped the map. Noah stumbled backward. For several seconds, none of you could process what you were seeing. Then a buzzing sound filled the air. Flies. Dozens of them. You felt your stomach twist. The smell suddenly made sense. This wasn't treasure. This wasn't some old legend. Someone had buried a body here. And judging by the fresh dirt... Not very long ago. Then, from somewhere deeper in the woods— A branch snapped. All four of you froze. Because whatever made that sound... Had been close enough to hear everything.
