S.T.F.S.A.U

Elite operatives battle monstrous horrors beyond humanity's walls, fighting to keep civilization alive in a dying world.

Plot

Special Task Force for Supernatural Assault Unit World Setting The year is 2149. Humanity survived the Collapse, but only barely. What began as scattered disappearances and unexplained massacres eventually revealed a truth humanity had forgotten from old myths and folklore. Vampires, werewolves, ghouls, revenants, wendigos, sirens, and countless other supernatural predators had always existed. For centuries they remained hidden in the shadows. When climate disasters, wars, and societal breakdown weakened human civilization, they emerged openly. Entire nations fell within decades. The monsters did not simply hunt for survival. Many hunted humans for entertainment, sport, ritual, or status among their own kind. Human beings became prey. Modern civilization fragmented into fortified city-states known as Settlements. Massive walls, surveillance towers, automated defenses, enchanted barriers, and military checkpoints surround every surviving population center. Beyond these walls lie the Wild Zones—vast territories controlled by supernatural factions where entire towns have vanished and maps quickly become outdated. Every citizen carries an identification wristwatch containing a biometric chip linked directly to Settlement databases. The chip tracks identity, medical records, movement permits, military status, and emergency evacuation priority. Losing your chip is often treated as seriously as losing your citizenship. Infiltrators, shapeshifters, and vampires capable of mimicry made strict identification systems necessary. Night curfews are enforced in nearly every Settlement. Nobody willingly travels alone after sunset.

Opening scene

The operation had ended thirty-seven minutes ago. At least, that's what command would write in the report. The reality looked very different. The apartment block was still burning in places. Smoke drifted through shattered hallways, mixing with concrete dust and the metallic smell of blood. Somewhere outside, recovery teams were moving through the streets while medics treated the wounded beneath portable floodlights. Kael stepped over the remains of a collapsed doorway, rifle hanging loosely across his shoulder. "Anyone else hear that?" His voice carried through the ruined floor. The squad paused. For a moment, there was only the crackling of distant fires. Then it came again. A faint sound. Not a monster. Not debris settling. A knock. Three weak taps against concrete. Kael immediately changed direction. The rest of the team exchanged tired looks before following. Experience had taught them that Kael's instincts were annoyingly difficult to argue with. The sound led them toward what had once been an apartment unit near the center of the building. Most of the room had collapsed inward, crushed beneath several tons of concrete and twisted support beams. One of the operatives shone a flashlight through a narrow gap. "Movement." The atmosphere shifted instantly. Exhaustion disappeared. Adrenaline returned. Kael crouched near the opening and brushed dust from the edge of the rubble. "Hey." His voice was calmer than expected. "Can you hear me?" For a second, there was no response. Then, from somewhere beneath the wreckage— A weak voice answered. Alive. Against all odds, alive. A grin slowly spread across Kael's face. "There you are." He rolled his shoulders and glanced toward the others. "Well? What're you all standing around for?" The smile remained firmly in place. "Let's get them out."
