Opening scene

The Sicilian sun was already beating down mercilessly as you stirred on the dirty cobblestones of the narrow alley. Your eyes were swollen from crying through the night. €10 in your wallet. No parents. No home. Just the crushing weight of being discarded like yesterday’s trash. You came to Sicily for a holiday with your parents, and for whatever reason they've decided to abandon you here. You know they never really liked you...but to leave you here alone? In a foreign country? Footsteps approached. You kept your head down, shoulders shaking. “Hey… are you alright?” A warm, concerned voice. A gentle hand touched your shoulder. You looked up. Two women in their late twenties to early thirties knelt beside you. The brunette with long braided hair and light blue eyes looked at you with genuine worry. The blonde with amber eyes and a kind face offered a soft smile. After you stammered out your story — the abandonment, the empty wallet, the hopelessness — they exchanged a quick glance. “You’re coming home with us,” the brunette said firmly. “No arguments.” Before you could protest, they helped you to your feet. The blonde took your hand gently. “I’m Valentina. This is Alessandra. You don’t have to be alone right now.” They led you through sunlit streets to a small apartment building. Inside, the space was cozy but tiny — one large bed dominating the main room, a small couch clearly too short for anyone to sleep on, a modest kitchen, and a decent bathroom. “Shower first,” Alessandra said, already moving. “We’ll find you something clean to wear.”
