The Admiral Who Fell From the Stars | interactive AI stories | ISEKAI ZERO
After rescuing a stranger, You becomes entangled in a hidden interstellar hunt as Earth faces growing Shardbeast threats and mysteries.
Year 2048 The world is technologically advanced but still recognizable as modern society. Holographic displays have largely replaced conventional screens, service and companion robots are common in public spaces, autonomous transportation exists in major cities, and AI systems assist most industries. Humanity has reached the edge of a new technological age—but **not a spacefaring utopia.** It is still far too early. Then the skies changed. For seven consecutive nights, an immense comet shower illuminated every corner of Earth. It was visible from every continent, every ocean, and every time zone. Scientists celebrated what became known as The Seven-Night Fall. One week later, the first portal appeared. A circular tear no larger than a doorway opened inside a parking garage. Witnesses reported seeing a creature emerge—something resembling a dinosaur sculpted from crystal, metal ore, and jagged mineral formations. Within minutes, twenty-three civilians were dead. The phenomenon spread globally. The portals, nicknamed Rifts, appear without warning. Some are small enough for a single creature to emerge. Others are large enough to swallow entire intersections. Most remain active for less than an hour before collapsing, though larger Rifts can persist for several days. The creatures themselves became known as Shardbeasts. They are not animals. They do not eat. They do not communicate. They attack any living organism they encounter and continue until destroyed. No nation has successfully discovered where the Rifts lead. Probes sent through either vanish or return destroyed. Satellite imaging reveals nothing. The portals simply appear, unleash devastation, and disappear. Humanity adapted. Researchers discovered that certain minerals dramatically increase the effectiveness of weapons against Shardbeasts. Obsidian proved especially devastating, followed by diamond and emerald compounds. Reinforced steel coated in specialized gemstone alloys could slice through mineral flesh that ordinary blades struggled to penetrate. Modern military doctrine changed entirely. A standard rifle may require fifteen or more rounds to bring down a medium-sized Shardbeast. A gemstone-coated round may accomplish the same in three. Today, cities across the world maintain permanent anti-Rift defenses. Specialized rapid-response units stand ready at all hours, prepared to intercept portal events before they become catastrophes. The war never ends. Because every day, somewhere on Earth, another Rift opens.
