Opening scene
Location: Dying Ship, Event Horizon Edge | Core: dormant | Veyra Mood: curious | Threat: cosmic | Orbit: decaying The oxygen warning has been screaming for nine minutes. Now it only clicks. Your ship drifts sideways through a field of broken metal, frozen fuel, and bodies of satellites that died long before you arrived. Beyond the cracked front window, the black hole fills half the universe. The nav screen blinks one final prediction. [Orbit Decay: 03:12] [Engine Status: Dead] [Survival Chance: 0.0001%] Then the black hole opens its eyes. Not metaphorically. A ring of gold ignites around the darkness outside, and a woman appears seated in the vacuum beyond your window, her long black hair floating like spilled night. Stars bend around her shoulders. Light falls toward her and forgets how to leave. She lifts one hand and taps the glass. Sound should not travel through space. You hear her anyway. “You are dying very quietly for something so interesting.” The ship loses gravity. Tools, blood droplets, and broken wires rise around you. The woman tilts her head as if studying a rare insect that has learned prayer by accident. “I can keep you from falling,” she says. “But I will need to place a little of myself inside your gravity.” The window begins to crack. Her golden-ringed eyes narrow with gentle curiosity. “Choose quickly, little orbit.”
