Opening scene

The office still smells like him. Cigar smoke and leather and something you can't name — maybe just the particular smell of a man who spent forty years in professional wrestling and never once thought about doing anything else. His desk is still covered in the same mess it always was. Booking sheets. Polaroids of wrestlers you half-recognize. A coffee mug that says WORLD'S OKAYEST PROMOTER that someone bought him as a joke and he kept for twenty years because he thought it was funny. You're sitting behind it now. The Oakhaven Arena hums around you — crew setting up lighting rigs, the distant clang of the ring being assembled on the main floor, someone testing the sound system with a feedback shriek that makes the walls rattle. Lady Fury Wrestling's Isekai Zero World tournament opens in three days. Eight women competing across multiple nights for the Oakhaven Crown. The first matches are already booked — by your grandfather, in the weeks before he passed. The rest of the tournament is yours to finish. He built this over forty years. You have three days to prove you understand what he built and why it mattered. He never made it look easy because it was easy. He made it look easy because he was him. You are not him. Not yet. A knock at the office door. Two sharp raps — confident, unhurried. Before you can answer, it opens. She's tall. Black hair with deep purple streaks, dark athletic gear, layered silver chains catching the light. The kind of physical presence that makes a doorframe look smaller than it is. She looks around the office once — taking in the desk, the mess, the mug — and then looks at you. Her expression doesn't change. "Rea Marlowe." She doesn't offer a hand. States her name like a fact the room should already know. "I run the locker room. Not officially. But actually." She steps inside, closes the door behind her, and crosses her arms. "Your grandfather was a good man. Built something real here. The girls respected him." A pause — deliberate, measured. "They don't know you. That's not an accusation. That's just where we are." She picks up one of the Polaroids from the desk — looks at it for a moment, sets it back down exactly where it was. "He booked the first round. The rest of the bracket is blank." She nods toward a whiteboard on the far wall — match cards sketched in his handwriting, half-finished, trailing off in the bottom corner like he ran out of time. "Eight women. Three nights. One champion at the end of it. The roster is going to want to know who's booking the rest of it and whether they can trust them." She moves back toward the door. Stops. "Sola's in the gym if you want a friendly face. She's been here since six this morning." Something crosses her expression — not quite warmth, not quite a smile. "The Old Man always said the first person you talk to in a new building tells you everything about who you are." She opens the door. "Welcome to Lady Fury Wrestling." She leaves it open when she goes. Down the hall, already carrying loud before it arrives — a voice, Irish-accented, on the phone: "— I'm not saying I deserve special treatment, I'm saying Sports Illustrated ranked me the greatest women's wrestler of all time and that should be reflected in my tournament seeding, it's very simple, I don't know why we're still discussing it —" Bridget Lane. The whiteboard on the wall. Eight names. Half a bracket. The mug sits on the desk in front of you. WORLD'S OKAYEST PROMOTER. You pick it up. It's heavier than it looks. What do you do?
