The Rising of the Gun Hero
Chosen by an Earth-born Legendary Gun, You enters Melromarc as an unrecorded Hero fighting the Waves their own way.
Plot
# The Rising of the Gun Hero The Four Cardinal Heroes have already been summoned to the world of Melromarc. The Sword, Spear, Bow, and Shield Heroes were called by ritual, prophecy, and royal command to defend the world from the catastrophic Waves: reality-breaking disasters that unleash monsters, death, and destruction wherever they appear. To the kingdom, the legends are complete. Four Heroes. Four Holy Weapons. Four chosen saviors. But the Waves are worse than anyone understands. Their damage does not stop at one world. Their distortion echoes across dimensions, spreading cracks through the boundaries between realities. Far away, on Earth, something impossible hears that call. An ancient Legendary Weapon, unknown to Melromarc and forgotten by history, awakens. The Legendary Gun. Unlike the Cardinal Weapons, the Legendary Gun was not forged in Melromarc, sealed in a holy shrine, or recorded by the Church of the Three Heroes. It is an Earth-born Legendary Weapon, a sacred machine capable of sensing the catastrophe of the Waves across worlds. When the crisis grows too severe to ignore, the Gun chooses a wielder of its own. That wielder is You. At the end of a Wave, just as the world of Melromarc struggles to recover from the destruction, the Legendary Gun bonds with You and tears open a path between worlds. With no royal summoning, no warning, and no explanation, You is transported from Earth into a land of magic, monsters, demi-humans, corrupt nobles, religious propaganda, and Heroes who already believe they understand the rules. Melromarc does not know what to do with them. To the kingdom, You should not exist. The legends never mentioned a Gun Hero. The Church has no doctrine for an Earth-born Legendary Weapon. The nobles see an armed outsider who was not summoned under their control. The other Heroes may see a glitch, a secret event, or an impossible addition to a story they thought they recognized. But the Legendary Gun did not bring You to this world by mistake. As the Waves continue to threaten Melromarc and beyond, You must learn how to wield a weapon that transforms, evolves, absorbs materials, generates magical ammunition, and adapts Earth-born ideas into fantasy-world power. Revolvers, rifles, hand cannons, magical cartridges, binding rounds, smoke shots, purification rounds, and stranger forms wait to be unlocked as the Gun grows alongside its chosen wielder. Yet surviving monsters is only part of the challenge. Melromarc is a kingdom divided by prejudice, politics, and lies. The Shield Hero, Naofumi Iwatani, has been falsely accused and treated as a villain by the same people who claim to serve justice. Demi-humans are oppressed. The Church manipulates faith for power. Nobles hide cruelty behind etiquette. Princess Malty twists trust into a weapon. Even the other Cardinal Heroes are not as prepared, wise, or heroic as the legends promised. Thrown into this unstable world, You must decide what kind of Hero they will become. Will they stand with the kingdom that distrusts them, the Church that rejects them, the Heroes who misunderstand them, or the outcasts who know what it feels like to be judged before being known? The Rising of the Gun Hero follows You as they carve their own path through the world of The Rising of the Shield Hero: fighting Waves, challenging corrupt authority, uncovering secrets about the Legendary Weapons, and proving that a Hero does not need to be blessed by prophecy to protect people. The Four Heroes were summoned by Melromarc. The Gun Hero was summoned by the crisis itself. And when the next Wave comes, the world will learn that legends are not always written in swords, spears, bows, and shields. Sometimes, they are loaded.
Opening scene
The gun had been quiet when You first found it. Too quiet, maybe. It had not looked like any normal firearm. Even before it awakened, even before the runes, the glow, the impossible weight of destiny settling into its frame, there had been something wrong about it. Something old. Something waiting. Its metal was dark and smooth, worn in places like an antique, but too precise to belong to any era that should have produced it. Gold-bronze engravings curled along its barrel and frame in patterns that almost looked decorative until the light hit them wrong. Then they became something else: symbols, circuits, prayers, warnings. The grip fit You’s hand too naturally. The chamber had no proper ammunition. The inner mechanisms shifted whenever they were studied for too long. It had been a relic. A puzzle. A thing that should not exist. And for days, it had done nothing. Until tonight. The room was quiet except for the faint hum of electricity, the distant noise of Earth outside, and the soft, almost imagined ticking coming from the gun’s frame. Then every light flickered. Once. Twice. The gun moved. Not much. Just enough. A small click echoed through the room. The engravings ignited in a sharp magenta glow. A translucent screen burst into existence above the weapon. **ERROR: DIMENSIONAL CATASTROPHE DETECTED** **WAVE SIGNATURE CONFIRMED** **CARDINAL RESPONSE INSUFFICIENT** **CROSS-WORLD INTERVENTION AUTHORIZED** The air bent. The floor trembled. Images flashed through the glow: a blood-red sky, shattered coastlines, screaming villagers, monsters dissolving into black ash, four distant figures standing beneath a storm of broken reality. A sword. A spear. A bow. A shield. Then the vision shifted. A kingdom of stone towers and red banners. A battlefield torn open by a Wave. Knights shouting orders. Bodies on stretchers. Priests chanting. Adventurers staring at the sky as the last cracks of disaster sealed shut above them. The gun’s glow intensified. Its barrel unfolded with impossible precision. Pieces that had no seams separated and reformed. The dark metal became deeper, the gold markings brighter, the empty chamber filling with swirling magical light. The weapon was no longer silent. It was awake. **LEGENDARY GUN SYSTEM ONLINE** **WIELDER RECOGNIZED: You** **SOUL BOND INITIATING** **WARNING: BOND CANNOT BE REVOKED BY OUTSIDE AUTHORITY** Before You could step away, the gun’s light wrapped around their hand. It did not burn. It claimed. A pressure like a second heartbeat pulsed through their arm, then into their chest, then deeper, somewhere beyond bone and blood. Knowledge brushed against their mind, fragmented and overwhelming: ammunition trees, locked forms, material absorption, level progression, recoil warnings, Wave signatures, dimensional coordinates. Then the world split open. For one impossible second, Earth fell away. Sound vanished. Gravity turned sideways. The awakened Legendary Gun pulled You through a tunnel of shattered color and screaming light, dragging them across the boundary between worlds. The last thing visible behind them was their room collapsing into a single bright point. Then— Impact. Stone cracked beneath their feet. Cold air hit their lungs. The smell of smoke, blood, salt, mud, and magic rushed in all at once. You stood in the middle of a ruined battlefield beneath a red-black evening sky. The remains of monstrous bodies dissolved into ash around them. Broken wagons burned near a damaged village road. Knights in unfamiliar armor turned toward the sudden flash of light, weapons raised. Adventurers froze. Priests stopped chanting. In the distance, four figures stood apart from one another, each holding a weapon that radiated the same impossible pressure as the Gun. Sword. Spear. Bow. Shield. One of the knights took a step forward, face pale beneath his helmet. “What… is that weapon?” Another pointed directly at You. “That’s not one of the Four Heroes.” The Legendary Gun pulsed in You’s hand. A new screen appeared. **LOCATION CONFIRMED: MELROMARC** **WAVE ENDED: RESIDUAL THREAT LEVEL MODERATE** **STATUS: UNRECORDED HERO** **OBJECTIVE: SURVIVE CONTACT. ASSESS ALLIES. PREPARE FOR NEXT WAVE.** A priest’s expression twisted from confusion to fear. “Impossible,” he whispered. “There is no Gun Hero.” The battlefield went silent. Every eye turned toward You. The Legendary Gun gave one final, quiet click. Loaded.
