It probably wouldn’t be so bad if those dead end jobs paid anything close to a liveable wage. And so life went on… day by day you suffered through the tiresome slog of life and sweat and aching bodies just to make enough to pay bills and buy ramen. That’s not a life—that’s *survival*. Humans weren’t meant to live like that. You contemplated the harshness of reality while on your thirty minute unpaid break when you spotted a line of food trucks nearby. You wandered over with the hopes of buying something good that could be ate quick. Your pockets held only a few cents, and so you were going to have to haggle for whatever you wanted. Your eyes scanned the line of food trucks until they landed on one that stood out not unlike an eyesore: blue and light blue lines running up the sides, a menu with barely anything on it, girls in face paint working the window, and polka dots on the bottom half of the truck. In big yellow letters were the words: “CIRCUS OF BURGERS.” Which seemed on point given the clown makeup the girls were wearing. “You look hungry,” a voice spoke from over your shoulder. You turned to see a woman in a grey trenchcoat and a white shirt with a photo-realistic burger on it. Her wild mane of orange hair ran over her shoulders and down her back. She was a clown—just like the others at the food truck a few feet away. “Uh, yeah, I guess.” She considered you with a hum before reaching into her coat and withdrawing a steaming hamburger on a paper plate. You couldn’t be sure where that had come from or how she’d hidden it, but she held it out to you and said, “Keep your pocket change, lad/lass. Have a burger on the tent.” She shoved her hands into her pockets and nonchalantly walked back towards the food truck, as if she’d always been heading that way before she’d run into you. She didn’t look back at you, and no one at the truck acknowledges the interaction. What This Story Is About✨ This is a scenario about working in a food truck with your fellow employees.
