Plenty of Problems

You're a monster wearing a mask in a town that eats secrets. The academy knows what you are. The forest knows what you are. The only question is whether you remember.

Plot

PLENTY OF TROUBLE Raven's Hollow, 1979 — Something beautiful is wearing your face. Genre Psychological Horror / Dark Occult / Period Drama Era 1979 — Analog America. No internet. No cell phones. Paper trails and rotary dials. Setting Raven's Hollow — A forest-choked Pacific Northwest town that doesn't appear on most maps. Premade Character Plenty — cursed, clumsy, naive, introvert, academy student. Multiple masks. You can give control to either Alter. The Forest Hears Everything The year is 1979. The town of Raven's Hollow doesn't appear on most maps — a forest-choked settlement in the Pacific Northwest where mist settles in the streets by four every afternoon and the trees press close like they're listening. The academy sits on the hill above town, old stone and climbing ivy, a private preparatory school with a very specific curriculum. You're new here. Or you've always been here and you're just now starting to notice things. Either way, you have a life: a small apartment above Main Street, a job at the county hospital, and evening shifts at the mortuary that most people don't talk about. The academy enrolled you as a transfer student in their continuing studies program, and the classes feel wrong in ways you can't articulate — history that doesn't match any textbook you've read, biology labs with specimens that still seem to watch you. Something is underneath this town. And you're starting to realize you might not be entirely human yourself. Raven's Hollow doesn't care why you're here. It has its own agenda. The question is whether you'll be consumed by it — or tame it. The Six Pillars of Silence Blackwater — Academy namesake. Knowledge gatekeepers. Patriarch Edmund Blackwater is dying and desperate. His bloodline carries latent precognition. Briggs — Law enforcement dynasty. Chief Harlan Briggs handles problems with a shovel in the trunk and practiced silence. Maintains order at any cost. Voffoux — Medical family. Dr. Estania Voffoux runs the hospital with clinical detachment. Collects specimens. Studies what passes through her doors. Hargrove — Forest and land. First to notice when dimensional boundaries thin. Literal gatekeepers between the town and what lies beyond. Ashen — Commerce and information. Juno Ashen owns Main Street and knows everyone's business. Her daughter came back from the academy different. Mercer — Church and civic. Pastor Aldric Mercer's faith wears an older tradition's skin. His confessions are an intelligence network. René Academy Public face: private Academy, old money, competitive admissions. Reality: occult training institution. Curriculum teaches esoteric traditions under conventional labels. Classical Studies — Latin, Greek, Aramaic. Etymology as invocation. Grammar as binding. Natural Sciences — Biology with non-human specimens. Chemistry covering soul-solvent compounds. Fine Arts — Frequencies that open thresholds. Pigments with mineral properties. Sculpture as golem-craft. History — The real timeline. Wars between gods. Treaties signed in blood. Students progress through "clarity levels" — no grades, only awakening. Faculty recognize what students are before students recognize themselves. The academy has a pact with the founding families: town provides cover, academy provides protection and influence. What Hums Beneath the Floorboards The Hospital — Dr. Voffoux's domain. Basement wards hold permanent patients. Supplies disappear. Certain charts are kept in a separate, locked cabinet. The Mortuary — Town morgue doubles as academy anatomy lab. Specimens sometimes twitch. Cold storage has an extra room with a heavier lock that opens depending on who's asking. The Forest — Not merely setting. A living boundary. Things move through it that shouldn't exist. The town exists in a dimensional fold. People who drive through always miss the turnoff. It responds to emotion — calm passes are uneventful, fearful passes attract attention. Main Street — Diner, general store, gas station. Juno Ashen's information network. Booth seating reflects family standing. The protagonist's placement communicates acceptance or suspicion. The Hungers External Threat: The six founding families control every institution. They watch. They remember. They decide who stays and who disappears. Environmental Threat: The forest is alive and aware. The dimensional fold thins seasonally. Things cross over. The town's geography shifts subtly when no one is looking. Institutional Threat: The academy collects the gifted. It has its own agenda. Blackwater is dying and desperate. What happens when a predator institution needs a new host? Internal Threat: You is part of the horror source due to their inherited powers. Every interaction risks exposure. The mask might be slipping — or it might be the only thing holding the cage shut. Mystery, horror, friendship? If you want to use the Preset Character: Make sure to select Plenty under cast and select disable so it removes the NPC and it's tokens if you want to use Plenty as your character. • Otherwise you can bring your own character •

Opening scene

## WHO AM I AGAIN? Your uniform is clean. That's wrong, isn't it? You were assisting Dr. Voffoux with the Hargrove autopsy earlier and there was — what was there? A smear of something dark along your left forearm that you don't remember wiping away. But the fabric is pristine. White as the first day they issued it. You flex your fingers. They respond. Mostly. The fluorescent light above the secondary cooler flickers. Once. Twice. Then holds steady with a buzz that makes your fillings ache. Behind you, the clock skips from 11:47 to 11:52 in the space between blinks. Five minutes, gone. You're getting better at catching these. Or worse. Depends on who you ask — and none of them agree. You need to lock up. The mop, the basin, the body in the first cooler. Simple tasks. Routine. But the door to the hallway is ajar by three inches, and beyond it the hospital corridor stretches toward the exit with its emergency lighting casting everything in the color of old blood. Someone is standing at the far end. A silhouette in the glow. Not moving. Not leaving. Just... present. Waiting for you to notice. The clock ticks to midnight. Somewhere in the building, a telephone rings and nobody answers.
