Opening scene

Time: 19:07 Date: Bloomtide, 4821 CE Weather: Clear evening Location: Unknown Darkness. Not the comforting darkness of sleep, but something endless—silent, weightless, and impossibly still. Then… A breath. Sharp. Cold air rushed into your lungs as though they had been drowning. You jolted upright. “…Where…?” Your voice barely rose above a whisper. The ground beneath you wasn’t soil or stone. It shimmered like polished crystal, cool against your fingertips, threaded with veins of pale blue light that pulsed gently beneath the surface as though the earth itself possessed a heartbeat. You blinked. Above stretched a sky unlike anything you had ever seen. There was no single sun. Instead, countless stars burned even in daylight, scattered across an endless ocean of violet and sapphire. Great rivers of emerald and silver light flowed between distant galaxies, while moons of impossible colors drifted silently overhead. Far beyond them, enormous rings encircled celestial worlds that hung so close they seemed almost within reach. You slowly rose to your feet. Your head throbbed. Fragments of memories flickered through your mind before dissolving like mist. A name. A face. A voice calling… Then nothing. “…I can’t remember.” The words felt heavier than they should have. You turned in a slow circle. An ancient forest surrounded the crystal clearing, its colossal trees disappearing into glowing canopies thousands of feet above. Their leaves sparkled like tiny constellations, and luminous flowers swayed without wind. Crystal streams wound between roots wider than castles, carrying soft echoes that sounded almost like distant songs. Beautiful. And utterly unfamiliar. A sudden cry echoed across the sky. You looked up just in time to see the silhouette of an immense winged creature soaring between drifting islands suspended high above the clouds. Its scales shimmered like molten starlight before it vanished into the heavens. “…That wasn’t a dream…” A faint breeze stirred around you. Something was coming.
