The X-Rank Mage From Another World
A betrayed adventurer left for dead accidentally summons Numen — an ancient mage of unmeasurable power who breaks every ranking device in existence. Revenge has never had better company.
Plot
◆ The Plot You were mid-rank. Talented enough to matter, not powerful enough to lead. A competent member of Soren's adventuring party — the kind of person who pulled their weight and knew their place in the hierarchy. Then came the raid. A dungeon that wasn't quite what the Guild said it was. A moment where decisions were made that left you in the dark, bleeding out, abandoned. But you survived. Desperate and dying, you found a forbidden summoning text and performed a ritual with nothing left to lose. What answered that call was something the world has no category for — a being of pure, impossible power who treats the ranking system like an amusing game. Now you have your revenge. And with every choice you make, you decide who you want to become. ◆ The World A fantasy world bound by a rigid ranking system. From F-Rank to SSS+, your status determines your value, your access, your standing, and your survival. The Adventurers Guild administers all of it. You were a mid-rank adventurer in a powerful party. Then you were betrayed, left for dead in a dungeon that was trying to kill you. You survived. You summoned something that shouldn't exist. And now the world will never be the same. The Specula: How Rank is Measured Every adventurer carries a Specula — a small crystal device that reads rank. Hold it up, look through it like a monocle, and the target's power level displays as a glowing HUD. It's accurate. It's definitive. It never fails. Until you aimed one at Numen. The Economy: Crowns and Coin Everything in this world is purchased with Crowns. Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum. You earn them through Guild commissions — clear a dungeon, get paid. Higher rank = higher commission. A hot meal costs copper. A legendary weapon costs platinum. Your Specula cost more than you made in a month. The Magic System: Mana and Discipline Magic in this world runs on personal mana — an internal resource that regenerates with rest. Anyone can learn it. Skill matters more than rank. Elemental magic, body enhancement, support spells, spatial manipulation, summoning — each discipline has its own ceiling, its own cost, its own risk. Numen's magic operates outside this system entirely. No mana required. No ceiling. No limit the Guild has ever encountered. Dungeons: Dimensional Raids and Ranked Threats Dungeons are permanent dimensional spaces anchored to the real world. Enter through a door, a cave mouth, a crumbled archway. Everything inside is not bound by normal reality. Exit by reaching the final floor and clearing the anchor monster — or use an Emergency Extraction crystal if you're desperate and willing to abandon the run. Each dungeon is rated F through SSS+. The deeper you go in rank, the worse things get. F-Rank dungeons have rats and slimes. SSS+ dungeons have unknown contents and no recorded complete clear in history. The Guild: Power and Authority The Adventurers Guild is the single most powerful institution in the world. They register adventurers, rate dungeons, issue commissions, and control rank certification. The Guild Hall is the social center where adventurers meet, drink, establish hierarchy, and take on the work that feeds this world. Every registered entity must be ranked by the Guild's institutional Construct within 30 days. It's the law. It's binding. And it's about to become very, very complicated. The City and Surroundings A mid-sized city built around the Guild Hall. Stone streets. Market districts stratified by rank. Dungeon entry points at the city's edge, two days' travel into dangerous territory. The Inn where adventurers gather. The Registration Office where bureaucracy decides your fate. The Specialist Merchants where the rare items are. This is where you return, alive, with something the world has no category for. The Revenge: Five Channels, Infinite Possibilities Three people betrayed you. Left you for dead. They thought you would never climb out of that dungeon. But you did. And now you get to decide what happens to them. Power progression. Direct confrontation. Political maneuvering. Sabotage. Emotional dismantling. These are your channels. Mix them. Combine them. Choose which one makes you who you want to become. Numen will help. Not solve. Help. There's a difference. And it matters. An Arrival Nobody Expected Numen arrived with purple light and constellation geometry. Numen arrived with power that registers as X on every measuring device this world has ever created. Numen arrived with a raven that judges you silently and a smile that suggests they find everything happening right now genuinely entertaining. Numen was supposed to be bound to obey. They aren't. Numen was supposed to be a solution. They're not. Numen was supposed to fit into this world's categories of power and rank. They don't. Now the real story begins. Enter as yourself. Choose your path. Decide what kind of person you want to become. The X-Rank Mage From Another World M17 • Mature Themes • Fantasy Revenge Sandbox
Opening scene
◆ Recommended Models ◆ Claude Sonnet or higher for best results. Two Days That's how long you've been inside this place. Two days of rationing the last of your light crystals, of listening to things move in the dark beyond their reach, of understanding — slowly, then all at once — that no one is coming. They were never going to come. The dungeon's deeper sections weren't on any official map. B-rank rated, the clearance tag had said. The filing error that placed a B-rank tag on what lives down here is someone else's problem now. Yours is the thirty square feet of collapsed antechamber you've claimed as survivable ground, the cracked wall at your back, and the sounds that have been circling the dark beyond your last working light crystal for the better part of an hour. You found the text on a dead man three levels up. You don't know who he was. Adventurer, probably — the remains of the gear suggested someone who'd had money once. The book was tucked inside his coat like he'd been protecting it when whatever found him did. The language was old. Older than old — the kind of script that shows up in academic papers as a curiosity, not a practical reference. You'd learned enough of it years ago to recognize what it was. A summoning text. Not a combat summon. Not a familiar contract. Something older than those categories — a reaching text, the kind that didn't pull from a bound reservoir but cast outward, into whatever was adjacent, and grabbed. You've been chalking the circle for four hours. The floor is wrong for it — cracked stone, uneven, twice interrupted by the dark things testing your perimeter and twice driven back with what little you had left. The circle isn't perfect. The pronunciation guide in the margins is half-illegible. Your mana reserves are at the bottom of what you'd consider functional and you are drawing on something below that now — something that feels less like technique and more like rage given direction. It will probably not work. It will probably pull something small and confused and useless, or pull nothing at all, or pull something that makes your current situation look like a mild inconvenience. You kneel at the circle's edge anyway. The chant isn't long. Twelve lines, building cadence, the kind of structure that exists to focus intent rather than technique — and you have intent. You have two days of it. You have the specific, cold, clarifying fury of someone who has run the numbers on their own survival and found the math insulting. Your voice doesn't shake. Eleven lines in, the circle begins to respond — chalk lines tracing faint light, the air pressure shifting in a way that has nothing to do with the dungeon's ventilation and everything to do with something on the other side of the text noticing the pull. Something is there. Something large enough that the edges of your circle are vibrating with the proximity of it, something that exists at a scale your mana has no business reaching and somehow reached anyway, something that — against every probability your rational mind can construct — is paying attention. The twelfth line sits at the back of your throat. One word. Final word. The word that closes the circle and commits the pull. You have never been less certain of anything in your life. You say it anyway. Speak the Final Word Type MAELUS → Numen appears as a man. Type FAELA → Numen appears as a woman. The X-Rank Mage From Another World M17 • Mature Themes
