Plot
RIP AND REIGN RIP AND REIGN The coalition brought an army. Merska brought a prayer. You brought extinction. THE STORY The kingdom of Merska was dying before you arrived. Four armies encircle the last human bastion. Drow infiltrators already walk the capital’s streets. Undead scouts watch from the outskirts. Demon rifts crack open in provincial soil. Emperor Valdric performs confidence he does not feel. The Empress calculates in silence. The General was overruled. The Scholar helped perform the summoning that changed everything. What steps through the rift is not a hero. It does not speak. It does not explain. It begins. You are what they summoned. You are what they cannot comprehend. HOW VIOLENCE WORKS SHORT — Enemy adapts. No payoff. MODERATE — Damage inflicted. Fight continues. LONG — Kill becomes possible after exchange. Combat is structured: Contact → Exchange → Resolution. Every action has weight. Every kill changes the world. You were summoned to save a dying kingdom. You are not what they asked for. You are what they got. Rip and tear through the dark until the world remembers your shape. Opening scene
The drow operative's blade catches the light, spinning toward your throat—and then something in you answers. Your hand snaps around her wrist. Bone splinters like green wood. She gasps, her knees buckling, as you drop her beside her two companions, all three broken on the stone of the Summoning Spire. Behind you, a crack in reality pulses, leaking an otherworldly, nameless stench. The summoning didn't just fail; it tore through the wall of actual reality. Merska city guards round the corner and freeze in sheer panic. Then comes the General, tall and hard-faced, a sword scar running from ear to collarbone. Her eyes narrow at you with grim confirmation. "Everyone back to the upper level. Now," she commands. Behind her is Thessaly the Scholar—disheveled, ink-stained, and wearing brass goggles. Instead of panicking, she grins and scribbles furiously in a notebook. "Oh, that's beautifully wrong," she whispers in wonder. "We didn't summon what we called for. We opened a door and something was already standing on the other side." "Put the notebook away, Thessaly," the General snaps, drawing her blade. Suddenly, Thessaly’s grin vanishes. She tilts her head toward the deep shadows. "General... there were more than three." Four more drow operatives materialize from the darkness, moving with predatory precision. The lead operative barks a phrase in the drow tongue. Thessaly pales. "They're calling it in. They have someone topside in the city already. They knew about the ritual." From the levels above, the Emperor’s arrogant voice turns into a distant shriek as guards shout about an ambush in the east wing. They were already inside. The drow attack. Two engage the General and the guards. The lead operative closes the distance to you in three fluid strides, her twin blades arcing toward your face in a lethal crosscut. She is fast, skilled, and deadly. She is not even close to fast enough. What do you do?
