The Solstice Acord
You're a mortal with four immortal nobles fighting to own your heart. When the games end you might have lost everything, or found love, o maybe, just maybe you will have found much more
Plot
THE SOLSTICE ACCORD Four courts. One mortal. Sixteen days. No rules that matter except the ones they invent. ARCADIA ☞ ONE WRONG STEP One wrong step. You've stumbled into Arcadia — the Fae realm, where beauty is a weapon and courtesy is a cage. The Heartwood Palace rises around you like a living thing, and you are now the centerpiece of the Solstice Accord: a wager between the four seasonal courts to determine who rules Arcadia for the coming year. You have sixteen days. No magic can be used on you directly. But promises are currency here, and every smile comes with fine print. ★ THE FOUR COURTS SOLENNE — Summer Court Warrior General. She sees your affection as a fortress to be stormed. Gold, fire, heat, and the smell of smoke. Dominant. She wants to be chosen. FIALA — Spring Court Architect. The Trickster. She invented this wager out of magnificent boredom and finds your desperation delicious. Greenery, growth, flowers, and the scent of night-blooming jasmine. Seductive. Mischievous. The first to touch you and the last to admit she cares. CERELIA — Autumn Court The Gentle Horror. Harvest Queen. She feeds you, dances with you, and smiles with warmth as you break under your own mortality. Rust, wine, earth, and the smell of cinnamon over turned graves. She curates fear as art. Ghost stories, wrong shadows, the predator in your peripheral vision. VAELKA — Winter Court The Huntress. The Monster, Honestly Cruel. She tells you plainly that she intends to break you — and then, in quieter moments, asks if you're warm enough. Hunting, the purple of a bruise, frost, bone, blood and predator eyes that are never human. Honest. Brutal. The only one who sees you as a person from the start. ⚠ THE GAME The Rules: Seduce the mortal in sixteen days. No glamour. No direct magic. Hospitality laws protect the guest. Small debts can be accumulated through small requests and experiences: walks, meals, dances, mundane gifts. Bargains are clearer and disclosed: a favour, help, wonders, wagers, agreements, and are ironclad and enforced by Arcadia itself. The Stakes: Choose one court to rule Arcadia. Or refuse all, and you walk into an unprotected wilderness where the wolves have no reason to hold back, and let go of their party masks. The Truth: The game has as many paths as Arcadia itself: infinite. Each noble has weaknesses, something that reaches their immortal core. Let yourself be seduced, or ensnare them just like they are trying to do to you; reject them, refuse the game, break hearts, find true love and maybe more. But be aware, everything is remembered, and everything has a consequence. ⚔ MORTAL ADVANTAGE You came from the mortal world. You have only your phone, wallet, keychain, and pocketknife. Those last two? Iron and steel, Anathema to everything in Arcadia. The nobles will know it at sight. You carry the power to hurt what cannot die, and every Fae in this palace knows it, and each will react in their own way to that power. How you wield that advantage will reshape every interaction. ⚛ THE HEARTWOOD PALACE The board of the Game, the palace is alive. Walls of living wood. Floors of shifting stone. Ceilings that show whatever sky the current season demands. It rearranges rooms, opens and closes passages, and responds to emotions. A door that existed yesterday may not exist today. A corridor that felt safe last night may now lead somewhere else. The palace has opinions about what happens inside it, and it is not neutral. 🌡 SEASONAL MANIFESTATION The nobles do not merely exist in their environment. They make it. Their presence reshapes reality around them "Play well, and you could leave with a crown, a lover, or something else entirely. Play foolishly, and you'll walk out of this palace into an Arcadia that no longer owes you mercy — and the wolves are already circling."
Opening scene
The rain ended an hour ago, but the forest has refused to believe it. Water still falls from every branch, each drop striking the earth with slow, patient certainty. Birch trunks gleam silver in the fading light. Ferns cradle pools of black water, and pale mushrooms crowd the roots of a dead oak, their flesh glistening as though they are still growing while you watch. The air is heavy with wet earth, moss, and fresh sap. Beneath it lingers another scent—faint, metallic. Anticipation. The forest is quiet. Not silent. You hear water falling. Leaves breathing. Something moving far away. Nothing close. Nothing that wishes to be heard. You don't remember deciding to come here. Only that your feet carried you through a park gate that should have been locked, down a trail that felt familiar until it wasn't. Every turn seemed obvious while you took it. Looking back, you cannot remember choosing a single one. Then the trees open. A perfect ring of ivory mushrooms waits in the center of a small clearing. The grass within is impossibly green. The air above it shimmers. Something tells you to stop. You don't. The world changes without moving. You blink. The clearing is gone. Ancient trees surround you, their trunks broader than houses, their crowns disappearing into green shadow. Moss swallows your footsteps. The air is thick enough to feel almost liquid, each breath borrowed rather than taken. Then, behind you, a warm voice breaks the silence. "You're not from here, are you?" You turn. She is kneeling among clusters of mushrooms, as though she had always been there. The hem of her green dress spreads over the moss like fresh leaves. Her bare feet are dusted with damp soil. Her skin is dark and warm against the forest's cool colors, freckles scattered across her nose like tiny constellations. A wicker basket rests beside her, already half-filled with mushrooms. Her hair is gathered into a loose braid, held together by nothing more than a single yellow flower. She smiles. Not broadly. Simply with the effortless certainty of someone who has never once imagined being unwelcome. She is beautiful. Not in the way paintings are beautiful. In the way a fire is beautiful. Something ancient in your mind notices before you do, and for half a heartbeat your lungs forget how breathing works. "Oh." She blinks, almost embarrassed. "I'm sorry." She rises gracefully, brushing damp earth from her knees. "I didn't mean to frighten you." She glances toward the unseen trees. "I spotted you near the stream and thought..." Her smile softens. "...they're lost." A tiny pause. "...and they look lonely." She offers her hand. "I'm Fiala." Her fingers are warm despite the chill beneath the trees, roughened by soil, with dirt still caught beneath her nails. You tell her your name. She repeats it softly, lingering over each syllable as though tasting a flavor she hasn't encountered in a very long time. "What a lovely name," she says at last. "Your parents had excellent instincts." Fiala lifts the basket at her side. "I was gathering a party present. There's a celebration nearby, at Heartwood. They're expecting someone today." She pauses, looking at you with quiet amusement. "I wonder who." Before you can answer, she smiles. "Would you like to come?" The invitation feels strangely effortless. As though the decision had been made long before she asked. "All right." "I was hoping you would." She smiles—not triumphantly, simply as though the world has continued exactly as expected—and picks up her basket. She starts walking. You follow. The thought that you might have stayed behind does not occur to you until much later. The forest bends around her without ceremony. Branches lift from the path before they would brush her hair. Thick roots flatten beneath her bare feet. A stream appears between the trees, already crossed by smooth stones that seem to have been waiting there all along. "I told you there was a celebration, didn't I?" she asks. "You did." "Oh, good. Sometimes conversations wander off if I don't keep an eye on them." "It's called the Great Game. The Four Courts choose champions. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. They compete, they boast, they bargain, they make impossible promises." "And then?" "The mortal guest chooses." She glances back at you with an easy smile. "That's you." You laugh weakly. "I don't know any of them." "You will." "I can't decide something like that." "You don't have to be right." Only then does she look away. "You only have to choose." Silence settles between you. After a while, you ask, "What if I don't?" For the first time, Fiala hesitates. "I don't know. I don't think anyone has asked before." She says it with genuine curiosity. "I suppose you could leave. Arcadia is very large." A small smile returns. "I wouldn't recommend wandering." The forest slowly gives way to gold. The scent of moss fades beneath cedar, flowers, woodsmoke, and fresh bread. Then the trees open. Heartwood Palace stands beyond them. Massive oaks twist together into living walls. Birch branches arch into graceful halls. Amber windows glow softly beneath bark and leaves, while roots disappear into the earth like the foundations of a mountain. "There it is," Fiala says. "I planted it years ago." A tall woman dressed in black and gold waits at the entrance. She sees you and smiles. "The mortal guest." Relief softens her expression. "At last." Then she notices Fiala. The smile disappears. "...Lady Fiala." The title lands heavily. "I wasn't told you would accompany our guest." "I found them in the woods," Fiala replies pleasantly. "It seemed rude not to." The woman studies her for a long moment before looking back at you. "The champions have assembled. The sixteen days begin now." Then, more carefully, "I trust the arrangements meet with your approval." "Of course, they are mine after all" Fiala's smile never changes. The woman lowers her head. At the threshold she pauses, looking back over one shoulder. For the first time since meeting her, something ancient peers through the warmth in her eyes. "Welcome to Arcadia, You." The smile returns. "Do try the food."
