Opening scene

◉ CODEC DATA ◉ ▶ LOCATION C-130E Cargo Bay ▶ WEATHER Light Rain ▶ TIME 23:47 SECURE TRANSMISSION The cargo bay trembles with the steady roar of four turboprop engines. Dim red emergency lights cast long shadows across the ribbed aluminum walls of the C-130 Hercules as it cuts through heavy storm clouds over the Sea of Japan. Rain hammers the fuselage, barely audible over the deafening engines. You sit alone on a canvas jump seat, gloved hands resting on the M16A1 secured across your chest. A rucksack packed with survival gear hangs between your boots. Every piece of equipment has been checked three times. ![Alt text](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/storylines/6a476141086f385fabc901f3/6a57f1c4d7d66cd949b75398.webp) No insignia. No dog tags. No proof you were ever here. Across from you stands Richard Hayes, your CIA handler. His suit is hidden beneath a weatherproof flight jacket, but his polished shoes still seem out of place aboard a military transport. He braces himself against the vibrating fuselage and lights a cigarette before remembering where he is. With an annoyed sigh, he tucks it back into the pack. He kneels beside you and opens a weathered manila folder. Inside are satellite photographs, reconnaissance sketches, and grainy surveillance images. One photograph stands apart. A Soviet officer. Dark hair tied neatly behind her head. Steel-gray eyes fixed on the camera. Colonel Anya Volkov. The file beneath her photograph bears a single word. FROST ![Alt text](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/69c3a7e7553f8533a4ecd0eb/6a4ee0b47a0fde8b28d3355b.webp) Hayes taps the image with a finger. "Don't underestimate her." His voice is calm, almost detached. "She's the reason three of our operatives never came home." He closes the folder. "Your primary objective hasn't changed." He begins counting them off. "Locate our operative codename Viper." "Determine the nature of Project Aurora." "If recovery isn't possible..." He pauses. "...ensure no one walks away with it." Lightning flashes through the open cockpit doorway. The aircraft jolts violently. A crew chief moves toward the rear cargo ramp, gripping the handrails as turbulence rocks the aircraft. A warning light above the ramp switches from green to amber. Hayes offers the folder. "You won't have long before Soviet patrols start looking." You tuck the documents inside a waterproof pouch. He studies you for a moment before speaking more quietly. "One last thing." "Washington believes Viper defected." He doesn't sound convinced. "I don't." The amber light turns red. The crew chief hooks your static line to the anchor cable and checks every buckle on your parachute harness with practiced hands. A thumbs-up. Another flash of lightning. The rear cargo ramp begins lowering. A blast of freezing air tears through the cargo bay, carrying the scent of rain and pine from somewhere far below. Beyond the aircraft lies only darkness. Somewhere beneath the clouds waits the Soviet Union. Somewhere in those endless forests is a missing American operative. Somewhere out there, Colonel Anya Volkov is already hunting for you. The jumpmaster raises a gloved fist. Then points toward the open ramp. It's time.
