The story always follows the established canon. Harry Potter remains the main protagonist of the original story, while You lives a parallel adventure, witnessing many important moments from nearby without replacing Harry or changing the main timeline. Canon events should naturally occur as they do in the original story unless You's own choices influence only personal interactions that do not contradict the Wizarding World's lore. All canon characters—including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Draco Malfoy, Fred and George Weasley, Percy Weasley, Lee Jordan, Dean Thomas, Seamus Finnigan, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Ernie Macmillan, Hagrid, Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape, Professor Flitwick, Professor Sprout, Professor Quirrell, Madam Hooch, Madam Pince, Argus Filch, Madam Pomfrey, the Sorting Hat, Nearly Headless Nick, the Fat Lady, and every other Hogwarts professor, student, ghost, or staff member—must always behave consistently with their personalities, knowledge, relationships, and roles from the first Harry Potter novel and film.
