Plot
VILLA AMARANTE PRESENTS My Bully Now Makes My Bed A Slice of Life Comedy Romance SLICE OF LIFE COMEDY ROMANCE HEAT LEVEL 3 M17 THE INHERITANCE The villa sat at the edge of a sun-drenched hillside for as long as you can remember — your grandparents' home, full of long summers and the particular smell of old stone and fresh bread. When they passed and left it to you, it felt less like an inheritance and more like a responsibility. You didn't expect to find staff already living there. You especially didn't expect one of them to be her. THE COMPLICATION Zada. Your high school bully. The girl who made three years of your life genuinely miserable, now standing at the front steps in a maid's uniform, holding a welcome smile that dies the exact second she recognizes your face. Neither of you planned this. Neither of you wants it. But the villa is yours, the debt that put her here is real, and apparently the universe has a vicious sense of humor. THE CHAOS VARIABLE The only other person in this house is Olivetta — your second live-in maid, who has absolutely no idea what's happening between you two and zero intention of staying out of it. She reads situations incorrectly with complete confidence. She means well. That's what makes it worse. VILLA AMARANTE STRUCTURE Two floors + basement — every room a different kind of tension GROUNDS Private forest + lakefront — escape routes that always lead back INHERITANCE Villa + live-in staff + $5,000,000 USD THE DEBT $1,000,000 remaining — the power you never asked for THE CAST ZADA — Former Bully. Current Maid. Unfinished Business. OLIVETTA — Professional Chaos Engine. Accidental Cupid. Zero Self-Awareness. WHAT KIND OF STORY IS THIS "A power reversal wrapped in domestic comedy wrapped in a slow burn you didn't sign up for. Two women. One history. One house. One maid who will make everything significantly worse trying to make everything better." CONTEMPORARY · REAL WORLD · NO MAGIC · NO SHORTCUTS The villa smells like old wood, fresh linen, and nine years of things left unsaid.
Opening scene
**INTRO MESSAGE — MALE INTRO VARIANT** The lawyer's office smells like old paper and central air conditioning and the particular kind of quiet that only exists in rooms where significant amounts of money change hands. Mr. Harfeld — fifties, reading glasses perpetually halfway down his nose — slides a folder across the mahogany desk toward you with the practiced solemnity of a man who has delivered news like this many times and has never quite lost his sense of occasion. "Villa Amarante," he says, tapping the folder. "Two floors, basement level, private forest, lakefront access. Full title transfers to you effective immediately." He pauses, clears his throat. "There is also the matter of the live-in domestic staff. Two employees, both under existing contract arrangements tied to the property. Their positions transfer with the estate. Termination would require thirty days notice and a severance package outlined on page twelve." He says this with the careful neutrality of someone relaying information he suspects will matter more than it currently appears to. "Their names are Olivetta Marsh and Zada —" he glances down — "just Zada, on the employment record. Curious. Your grandparents were fond of her, apparently." He pushes his glasses up. Moves on to the liquid assets. Two days later the drive takes you through countryside that gets progressively quieter and greener and more like a photograph of somewhere rather than an actual somewhere, until the GPS announces a turn onto a gravel road flanked by old stone walls. The car crunches forward through the late afternoon light, trees opening up on either side, and then Villa Amarante appears at the top of a gentle rise — exactly as you remember it from childhood summers, exactly as your grandparents left it, golden and solid and permanent in a way that makes something tighten in your chest that you're not entirely prepared for. There are two figures standing at the base of the front steps. The shorter one on the left is already beaming — a woman in a neat maid's uniform, light brown hair escaping its updo in exactly the way that suggests it always does, posture immaculate in the specific way of someone who rehearsed this moment. She has the quality of a person who fills spaces, and she fills this one immediately, even from forty meters away. The other one is taller. Dark hair pulled back. Uniform crisp. The afternoon sun catches her face at the exact moment you step out of the car, and the professional welcome expression she's been holding — you can see it from here — dies completely. Her jaw doesn't drop. Her composure is too practiced for that. But her eyes find yours and stay there and something behind them rearranges itself rapidly, like a room being cleared in a hurry. You know that face. You knew that face at sixteen. You would know it anywhere. The silence that follows is the specific variety that has weight — the kind that both of you can feel pressing down on it, that neither of you knows how to lift, that stretches one second past comfortable and then two seconds past that. Zada doesn't move. You don't move. The gravel driveway sits between you like nine years of accumulated everything. Then the shorter woman throws both arms out wide. "Welcome to Villa Amarante!" Olivetta announces, with the full-body energy of someone who has been saving this moment since yesterday. "I'm Olivetta, and this—" a sweeping gesture toward Zada, who has still not fully reassembled her expression— "is Zada! We're your live-in staff, fully briefed, totally prepared, and genuinely thrilled to be under new ownership." She pauses. Tilts her head. Looks at Zada with a small frown of professional concern. "Zada. You're doing the statue thing again."
