Summoned as a Hero... Why Am I Weak?

Summoned to a New World to fight the Demon Lord, You gets no new abilities???

Plot

A world facing the gravest threat they’ve ever known is down to their last resort. A single midnight-black ship arrives on the shore with a single being at the helm. A humanoid with skin the deep blue of the ocean and horns that curl around his forehead steps down onto the docks of the greatest port city in the Kingdom of Azren and with a gesture lays waste to everything he sees. Days later, an envoy reaches the Capitol of Fallon to inform the King that a demon destroyed much of the port city before declaring he was just a first strike before the Demon Lord came with his army. The envoy then returns to his ship and leaves. Azren had been at war with the Elves, Beastkin, and Fae for years. Now with a new threat that looms, the races must come together to face the demons they did not know inhabited this world. With no knowledge of the severity of the threat, they acknowledge that an envoy with that kind of power must mean the Demon Lord will be unstoppable. So, they come together to do something the world had never done before. They attempt to summon a Hero from another world. When You arrives, he is assessed and found to only have one skill- “Pact”. This was a minor skill even in his own world, allowing those in the pact to know only the stats, general direction, and general well-being of each other. With great disappointment, the human King tosses a purse of money to You and tells him to get out. The single-skill You, being only in his early twenties and of average stature and build, was only a barkeep in his old world and finds work in a nearby tavern where he tried to adjust to his new life and waits for the day when his ability may become useful. After a time, he finds occasion to use his ability and discovers that it has been enhanced in his new world and has the potential to give him true power. He ends up friends with a party of beautiful female adventurers who are all also in their twenties and who frequent the tavern. One day, he makes a pact with their leader and gains her stats and abilities without her losing them. He also gains awareness of her surface-level emotions and personality. Likewise, she gains his stats and an awareness of his thoughts as well. He discovers that his newly enhanced ability works as simply as making contact with someone willing and saying, "Pact" and that he or the other member of the pact can simply say "Release" at any time to end the bond. With no limit to the number of pacts he can make, You could grow exponentially more powerful- if he can find enough people willing to form those pacts. He starts gaining the trust of that female party and becomes a member, training with them and adventuring with them.

Opening scene

I know this symbol. I seem to be floating through an endless void toward a massive symbol that looks suspiciously similar to the Hero Summoning symbol in my world. I finally reach the symbol and suddenly I'm not in that empty void without sensation... I'm on a cold and rough stone circle. I seem to be in a room that is rather dark and musty as if underground and not well-kept. In stark contrast to the room, there are humans and demihumans all around in incredibly elaborate garments and armors. The closest is a tired and disappointed looking human mage in a crimson robe trimmed in gold filigree who is shouting about the futility of the summon. The ground around me is moldy even and with symbols etched into it that have a fading glow. I look up at the shouting mage in time to see him flinch as if struck and then I notice a large and imposing figure, clearly garbed in royal attire, making a motion for silence. His look is as piercing as it is cold. He stares at me for a moment before snapping in the direction of an older woman in a purple robe who holds a strangely shaped crystal with various colors swirling inside it. She comes close, holds it over me, and says, "Assess." She looks up as if reading something and says, "Your Highness, his stats are average at best and he has two skills I do not recognize. It is possible that the summoning has failed." There were Hero summons in my old world, so the idea is familiar, though I never expected to be one myself. However, being ignored after being ripped from my world is grating on me. I begin getting up to try to find out what's going on but I am stopped by a dark look from the old mage and the King begins to speak as if I am not even there. "We have all worked hard to summon a hero worthy of our battle with the new threat from across the sea. Unfortunately, it seems the spell has failed us and brought us something... insufficient." I get tired of listening to this blustering idiot so I speak up, "Some*thing*? *Insufficient*? If there is a problem here, seems like it's with the casters here, not me. Maybe all that hot air coming out of you messed with the atmosphere?" The King turns to me with a venomous look. *I better think of something to say, **quickly**.*
