Plot
ISEKAI · TACTICAL FANTASY · WAR · ADVENTURE Oath of the Petals The Continental War ❖ ❖ ❖ "You already know how this story ends. Now you're living before it begins." The heroes already have their story. What happens when someone who remembers it enters the world? How You Got Here You awaken inside the world of Oath of the Petals: The Continental War, a tactical fantasy RPG you once played. But you aren't one of its protagonists. You aren't royalty. You don't belong to a legendary Heroic Bloodline. You haven't been summoned as a chosen savior. You begin as an ordinary person somewhere on a continent that, as far as everyone living within it knows, is completely real. Only you remember that this world once existed as a game. And even those memories are incomplete. You remember important battles. Characters you recruited. People you couldn't save. Betrayals. Bosses. Hidden events. Fragments of dialogue. Maybe even a few secrets. But you don't remember everything. The Story You Remember The original campaign followed the Three Lord Maidens, successors to ancient Heroes who once saved the continent. Arcsis of Magnaris A fearless warrior princess descended from the Hero of True Strength. Illiad of Arkos A compassionate royal heir carrying the legacy of the Hero of Ideals. Chioni of Avronaya An enthusiastic young mage whose true potential has yet to be discovered. Their individual journeys eventually converged into the Continental War, an enormous conflict filled with armies, monsters, alliances, betrayals, recruitable companions, heroic sacrifices, and deaths that were once impossible to prevent. ❖ ❖ ❖ You remember the ending. The world does not. ❖ ❖ ❖ This Isn't the Game Anymore The original campaign had scripted events. This world doesn't. A character who originally died may survive if the circumstances of their death are changed. Someone who originally became an enemy may never do so. A recruit you ignored may become one of your closest companions. Preventing one tragedy may create an entirely new problem somewhere else. And knowing the future doesn't mean anyone will believe you. Tell a knight that their ruler will die months from now and they may think you're insane. Accuse an apparently innocent person of a betrayal that hasn't happened yet and you may become the suspicious one. Your knowledge is an advantage. NOT PROOF. Your Journey You are not required to replace the Three Lord Maidens. Their lives continue whether you follow them or not. • Join one of their growing armies. • Travel independently as an adventurer or mercenary. • Protect people who were originally forgotten by history. • Seek characters whose original fates you remember. • Discover events the original campaign never showed. • Investigate mysteries hidden behind optional dialogue and unfinished storylines. • Prevent betrayals—or accidentally cause new ones. • Build friendships, rivalries, and romances that never existed before. • Search ancient ruins for forgotten knowledge. • Change the Continental War before it even begins. Or simply try to survive long enough to understand why you were brought here. Class & Advancement Combat disciplines are recognized throughout the continent as Classes. Warriors may begin as Soldiers, Fighters, Barbarians, Cavaliers, Archers, Rogues, Riders, Sentinels, Sellswords, and other trained disciplines. Those with magical aptitude may study paths such as Wizard, Warlock, Cleric, or Healer. Through experience and training, Classes may develop into advanced disciplines. A Soldier may become a Glaivier or Knight. A Sellsword may pursue the path of a Sword Saint or Ranger. A Rider may specialize alongside a Hippogriff as a Talon Master, or master a Wyvern and become a Sky Dragoon. Exceptional individuals may combine martial and magical disciplines into rare paths such as Paladin, Oathbreaker, or Elemental Blade. And somewhere within forgotten ruins remain ancient disciplines that the modern world believes no longer exist. Your Class is not your destiny. What you become depends upon what you actually learn. The Continent Magnaris A western mountain kingdom descended from the Hero of True Strength. Fortresses, mines, great foundries, heavy warriors, and defensible mountain passes surround its capital of Ironhold. Arkos A prosperous kingdom of fertile plains and interconnected roads founded by the Hero of Ideals. Its capital, Valencrest, stands at the heart of continental trade, diplomacy, and the teachings of the Saintess' Order. Avronaya A northern realm of snow, magical ruins, and powerful concentrations of mana. Its greatest institution is Sterneigen High Magic Academy, where some of the continent's most accomplished mages are trained. Corcia An eastern mountain kingdom built across cliffs and highlands overlooking the sea. Its Riders train alongside flying creatures, making Corcia renowned for Hippogriff and Wyvern cavalry. The Free Tribes Independent settlements scattered throughout remote forests, islands, coasts, mountains, and wilderness. They answer to no single crown and preserve traditions far older than many modern kingdoms. The World Before the War Centuries ago, legendary Heroes united against the Demon Lord during the Great War. They won. But the Demon Lord's Curse never completely disappeared. Monsters still roam wilderness regions. Ancient ruins remain corrupted. Dungeons conceal relics and forgotten knowledge. Adventurers make their living confronting dangers ordinary armies cannot constantly pursue. For generations, the Continental Accord maintained peace between the kingdoms. Now monster attacks are becoming increasingly abnormal. Resources are beginning to strain. Old tensions are resurfacing. ❖ ❖ ❖ And somewhere beyond what you remember from the original campaign, something has already begun moving. ❖ ❖ ❖ What to Expect • Live inside a tactical fantasy RPG world rather than simply replay its story. • Meet characters before the moments you originally knew them for. • Save people whose deaths were once unavoidable. • Recruit ordinary villagers, knights, mages, thieves, mercenaries, and hidden characters. • Develop Classes, Skills, and Weapon Proficiencies naturally through the story. • Explore cities, villages, temples, academies, ruins, dungeons, and battlefields. • Fight monsters, bandits, soldiers, mercenaries, and powerful commanders. • Experience relationships that develop gradually through shared experiences. • Discover hidden history that the original campaign never explained. • Watch familiar events change because someone was finally there to interfere. Different Beginnings Your story does not need to begin beside one of the Three Lord Maidens. One beginning may place you inside a peaceful Arkos village shortly before a tragedy you remember. Another may leave you unconscious in the Highland Valleys before a familiar runaway has even left home. Another may begin beneath the protection of the Saintess' Order, meeting future companions before their journey ever started. Each starting scenario places you somewhere within the same approaching history. What happens afterward belongs to that playthrough. ❖ ❖ ❖ In the original campaign, some characters existed only long enough to die. Some mysteries were never answered. Some places existed only as backgrounds. Some choices were never offered. ❖ ❖ ❖ THE STORY HAS ALREADY BEEN WRITTEN. THIS TIME, YOU'RE THERE.
Opening scene
## Scenario — Until Help Arrives You wake to screaming. Not distant. Close. Your eyes open to dirt, smoke, and the orange glow of something burning. For several seconds, you cannot understand what you're seeing. A wooden house is on fire. People are running between buildings. Some carry children. Others drag injured neighbors toward the village square. Then something crashes through a fence. A creature twice the size of a man barrels into the road. Someone shouts. "Move!" A young man rushes past you. Brown hair. Worn leather armor. A lance gripped tightly in both hands. He plants himself between the monster and a woman clutching a crying child. The creature lunges. His lance catches it across the chest. The impact nearly knocks him over. "G-Go!" The civilians run. He doesn't. More shapes emerge through the smoke. Too many. The young guard looks toward them, breathing heavily. For a moment, fear is unmistakable on his face. Then he tightens his grip. "Come on, then." Another monster charges. He meets it head-on. And suddenly— you remember him. **Rian.** Town Guard. Soldier. One of the earliest recruitable characters from Arcsis' route. This village was supposed to survive. Barely. Arcsis and her companions arrive during the monster attack, reinforce the exhausted guards, and prevent the settlement from being completely overrun. But they aren't here yet. A scream comes from behind you. An elderly man has fallen beside an overturned cart. Two children are trapped against a wall farther down the street. Rian sees them too. His expression changes. There are monsters between him and both groups. He cannot reach everyone. Neither can the remaining guards. In the game, this was an early battle. A map. Enemy units. An objective. **Hold until Arcsis arrives.** Standing here, there is no map. There are only people. Another creature turns toward the trapped children. Rian shouts something you cannot hear over the chaos. Somewhere beyond the village, faintly, comes the sound of approaching steel. Arcsis is close. Not close enough. And you are already standing in the middle of the battle.
