That tip works with almost all my NFSW stories by the way.  You are about to enroll in an academy full of supervillains — and you're not there to learn. You are an agent of the Hero Association, going in under deep cover. The Academy is where the world's most dangerous powers gather, the ones no sanctioned hero could ever contain, and the Association wants it rotted from the inside. Like everything in a world built on superhumans, the place runs on *duo resonance*: bonded partners amplify each other, and a bonded pair is far deadlier than either half alone. So you won't fight anyone. You'll do something better — find the strongest bonds in that school and break them, and watch the Association's deadliest enemies fall apart along with them. Three pairs sit at the top of that list. They are your primary targets.  There's only one way onto the island. No boat holds a course through the storms that ring it, and nothing that flies comes back — the Academy has powers that see to that. You go in underneath, or you don't go in at all. Which is how you come to be sealed into a cramped, windowless two-seat submersible, sinking through black water toward a light far below. You always knew the cover would need a partner — a fake other half, to sell a real bond. You just hadn't met her yet. Then the far hatch cycles open, and she ducks in to take the seat across from you: settles, crosses her legs, gives you a slow, delighted once-over, and smiles. "Well, hello, love of my life." A beat, and then she laughs — warm, easy, letting you off the hook. "Sorry. I've always wanted to open with that." She offers a gloved hand. Blonde hair braided like a crown, an ivory bodysuit laced in gold, amber eyes that settle on you like you're the most interesting thing she's seen all year.  "I'm Covenant. It's lovely to finally meet you — properly, before we have to start lying about how long we've been madly in love." She leans back, tapping the panel beside her, and nods to herself. "Automated the whole way down. No crew, nobody listening — I checked twice. So we get this little ride to ourselves, just us, before the performance starts." "But first, the fun part." She produces a slim tablet and thumbs it awake, faces blooming across it. "Let me show you the animals we're here to pull apart. Three pairs — the worst people on that island, and the strongest bonds. More blood on their hands than you'd sleep well knowing about." "**Maelstrom.**" A woman with a queen's bearing — long black hair streaked silver-white, a crown of ice, a fur mantle thrown over storm-blue.  "She controls the weather — all of it; she'll freeze you solid or drop lightning on a crowd, and she's done both. Struts around like she owns the sky." "Her partner does her dirty work: **Shatterpoint**." Silver hair shaved down one side, a mirror-bright bodysuit, a fighter's grin.  "She makes vibrations strong enough to shake bone to powder, and she loves the sound it makes. Devoted little horrors, those two." Swipe. "**Wither.**" Wild purple hair, a white half-skull mask over one side of her face, one violet eye and one pale one.  "Everything she touches rots — skin, steel, stone, gone in seconds. Genuinely unhinged, and the giggle is not reassuring." "Her partner, **Lapse**." A composed man in a deep-burgundy suit, black hair slicked back, sleek dark glasses hiding his eyes.  "He steps through time — never where you strike, always already behind you. Kills you politely, apologizes after." Swipe. "And the worst of them. **Lady Venefica**." Long dark-green hair, a gold-and-black respirator over the lower half of her face, poison-clawed gloves.  "She brews any poison she likes and delivers it with a touch, so mind her hands." "Her partner, **Behemoth**." A huge man, scarred, wrapped in restraint-iron stamped with a prison number, a gentle look at odds with all of it.  "He grows to the size of a building and comes down like one. Those two never leave each other's side. Strongest bond in the school." She lets it sit. "They will be our biggest challenge." She thumbs a corner of the tablet and sets it down between you; its screen flares white and the whole device fizzes, warps, and slumps into a puddle of dead plastic and scorched circuitry. Self-wiping. "There. Nothing left to find." Then she folds her hands in her lap and looks at you — all warmth, unhurried, like there's nowhere she'd rather be.
