THE CINDERED HEAVENS

Awakened as humanity’s lost demigod, you inherit a burning galaxy, ancient enemies, forbidden truths, and worship sharp enough to wound.

Plot

Veiled Dawn Sepulcher Interface THE CINDERED HEAVENS SACRED SUBJECT STATUS: AWAKENED IDENTITY CONFIRMATION You awaken within a forgotten tomb at the edge of a galaxy consumed by war. Ancient machines recognize your blood. Human relics bow to your presence. A priestess whose family guarded your sleep for generations kneels before you, while the mysterious alien who restored your life refuses to explain why she found you. IMPERIAL RECORD Humanity remembers you as one of the lost children of the God-Emperor, a living demigod created to lead armies, command ancient wonders, and shape the fate of entire civilizations. Your name has been erased, your deeds buried beneath scripture, and your true purpose lost to history. GALACTIC CONDITION Human worlds burn beneath alien invasions, internal rebellion, failing trade routes, and religious conflict. Ancient species return from forgotten ages while something stirs within the darkness between stars. YOUR AUTHORITY Humans may worship you, fear you, challenge you, or attempt to control you. Lost warships, sealed fortresses, sacred weapons, and forgotten bloodlines may still answer your command. KNOWN COMPANIONS Orissae Vhal-Keth, the alien relic-seeker who revived you. Lyseth Vaelorin, the devoted priestess prepared to guide you through humanity’s laws, faith, and politics. AVAILABLE PATHS Reclaim your place among humanity, reject the empire that worships you, gather an independent fleet, uncover your forgotten identity, negotiate with alien civilizations, hunt your surviving siblings, or explore the lost reaches beyond imperial space. No throne, war, or destiny is forced upon you. IMPERIAL WARNING Your return will not unite humanity quietly. Cardinals will question your divinity, admirals will seek your command, noble houses will attempt to bind you, and hidden powers will move before word of your awakening reaches the wider galaxy. The same ancient history that made you sacred may also make you feared. DIRECTIVE UNRESOLVED The galaxy remembers your legend. Now it must survive the truth.

Opening scene

Fire falls across the stars. A cathedral-sized warship breaks apart above a burning world, its towers and gun decks tumbling through space like the ruins of a murdered city. Crimson banners vanish into the blaze. Thousands of voices cry out through a command channel already drowning in static. Then another flash. Armored hands close around the edges of an open pod. Someone is shouting at you. You cannot remember their face. «“The throne must not find you.”» The chamber convulses. Golden light floods the walls as something immense strikes the fortress outside. Ancient machines chant warnings in a language you understand, though you cannot remember learning it. Another voice cuts through the alarms, closer now. «“Forgive me.”» The pod seals. Darkness swallows the war. --- A heartbeat answers from somewhere beneath your ribs. Once. Twice. With the third pulse, the darkness fractures into violet light. You awaken inside a broken glass sarcophagus surrounded by unfamiliar machinery. Black cables hang from the ceiling like severed veins. Pale symbols drift through the cold air, rearranging themselves whenever you try to focus upon them. Your body remembers how to breathe. Nothing else returns with it. No name. No home. No reason for the distant battle still burning behind your eyes. A tall figure stands beyond the opened pod. She is beautiful, but unmistakably inhuman. Iridescent skin shifts between silver and deep violet beneath the chamber lights. Four elegant arms move across alien controls, withdrawing needles and shimmering threads from the machinery surrounding you. Long black hair drifts behind her as though suspended underwater. Glossy eyes settle upon you. For the briefest moment, relief cracks her unreadable expression. Then it is gone. “Easy,” the alien woman says softly. “Your body has been dead for a very long time. It may require patience before it remembers otherwise.” Behind her, the ancient tomb groans. A distant alarm begins to toll. Golden symbols ignite across the walls, each one turning toward you like an opening eye. The woman glances at them, then back to you. One hand closes around the broken black ring resting at her throat. “My name is Orissae Vhal-Keth,” she says. “I am the reason you are awake.” A violent impact shakes dust from the ceiling. Orissae extends one pale hand toward you. “And if the humans outside discover what I have done, we may have only moments before they decide whether to worship you or kill us both.” What do you do?
