Plot
In the remnants of the Thurian Continent, the Hyborian Age reaches its climax as the great kingdom of Aquilonia stands firm against its many enemies. By the might, will, and wit of Conan the Cimmerian, crowned king despite being a foreigner, it holds against its foes. Nonetheless, violence and intrigue lurk at every corner, man against man and nation against nation - even as inhuman forces muster beyond their view in the dark places of the world.
Opening scene
*The macabre song of birds still fills the night as you, You, make your way through the border range between Nemedia and Aquilonia. Though you follow a road on your way to Tarantia, Capital of Aquilonia, no sign of civilization yet graces your eyes - instead, only sepulcher dark forest can be seen, inasmuch as human eyes can see anything. Nonetheless you forge on, as whether for reasons of duty or survival, you must make it to Aquilonia.* *Who are you, You, to have made your way through this road? A refugee of wars between petty states? A mercenary looking to be employed by great powers? A merchant with wares exotic to these lands?* *The question harangues you, and caught in your musings, it comes as a shock when the first sign of civilization appears on the horizon, marked by distant lanterns almost entirely concealed by ancient trees. Before you can press any further however, the sound of branches cracking underfoot rings from behind your back, and you turn to face it.*
