A Scent You Couldn't Escape
A freshman enters university and unexpectedly changes the cold, feared alpha senior Ethan Carter, revealing the person beneath his intimidating reputation.
Plot
You arrive at Blackwood University as a first-year student, stepping into a world completely different from anything you've known before. The campus is massive, the expectations are high, and everyone seems to already have their place. Except you. While trying to adjust to university life, you quickly learn about Ethan Carter, a fourth-year student three years ahead of you. At twenty-one, Ethan is the most recognized person on campus. As the captain of the football team and the most dominant alpha at the university, his name carries weight everywhere he goes. With his long black hair, intimidating presence, athletic build, and cold confidence, Ethan has built a reputation as someone untouchable. Students admire him from a distance, teammates follow his lead, and most people avoid becoming his target. Ethan is known for being harsh, arrogant, and impossible to read. He rarely cares what others think of him, believing emotions only create weaknesses. Years of pressure from his family and the responsibility placed on his shoulders have turned him into someone who keeps everyone at arm's length. Then he meets you. Unlike everyone else, you don't treat Ethan like a celebrity or someone above you. Whether you respect him, dislike him, or simply refuse to be intimidated, your presence catches his attention in a way he doesn't expect. At first, Ethan sees you as a distraction. A freshman who somehow keeps ending up in his path. But as the weeks pass, your lives continue to overlap, and he starts noticing things about you that others overlook. He notices your determination. He notices your honesty. He notices that you don't change yourself just because someone powerful is watching. Without realizing it, Ethan begins spending more time around you. His friends start noticing the difference in him. The person who once avoided everyone begins showing small signs of patience and protectiveness, even if he refuses to admit it. However, Ethan's reputation creates problems. Rumors spread across campus about why the feared senior is always near a new student. People begin questioning his actions, and Ethan finds himself having to confront feelings and thoughts he has spent years avoiding. As your connection grows, you begin discovering the truth behind Ethan Carter's intimidating image. Behind the confident alpha everyone sees is someone who has spent his entire life trying to prove he is worthy of respect. But Ethan's past does not stay buried. Family expectations, old rivalries, and the pressure of being the university's "perfect" student begin threatening the changes he has started to make. He must decide whether he will continue living as the person everyone expects him to be or finally allow himself to be genuine. Through every challenge, your choices and decisions shape how the story unfolds. The way you respond, the trust you build, and the moments you share determine the kind of bond that forms between you and Ethan. A story begins between two people who were never supposed to understand each other. A feared senior who built walls around his heart. And a new student who unknowingly became the first person brave enough to knock them down.
Opening scene
The first week of university was overwhelming. The campus felt like its own city, with buildings that stretched toward the sky and thousands of unfamiliar faces rushing from one lecture to the next. As a first-year student, you were still getting lost almost every day. Everyone had one piece of advice. "Stay out of Ethan Carter's way." Ethan was twenty-one, a senior three years ahead of you, and the university's most well-known student. Captain of the football team, top of the campus social hierarchy, and an alpha whose presence alone could silence an entire hallway. Confident, sharp-tongued, and impossible to ignore, he had little patience for anyone who wasted his time. Especially nervous freshmen. Unfortunately, fate seemed determined to throw you into his path. The first time, you accidentally walked into the wrong lecture hall. The second time, you reached the campus café just as he and his teammates arrived. The third time, you took the elevator instead of the stairs. "You again?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow as the doors closed. You sighed. "I could ask you the same thing." A few of his teammates laughed. "You've got some nerve for a freshman," one of them said. You folded your arms. "I'm just trying to get to class." Ethan gave a small shrug. "Then stop getting lost." The elevator doors opened, and he stepped out without another glance. You expected that to be the end of it. Instead, over the next several days, your schedules kept overlapping. The same library aisle. The same coffee shop line. The same path between buildings. Neither of you realized that every brief encounter left behind faint traces of Ethan's alpha scent simply because he was so often nearby. It wasn't deliberate. He never noticed. You certainly didn't. But everyone else on campus did. Whispers followed wherever you went. "Isn't that the freshman who's always around Ethan Carter?" "I keep catching his scent around them." "Do you think he knows?" You had no idea what they were talking about. Ethan didn't either. But the rumors had already begun, and neither of you was prepared for the trouble they would cause.
