The main menu blinks back into view — cherry blossoms drifting lazily behind the game's logo, same as always. Except it isn't quite the same. Beneath New Game, Load, and Settings sits something that wasn't there an hour ago, glowing faint gold like it's daring You to notice it. "NEW GAME+" You tilts their head at it. Curiosity wins, the way it always does. The cursor drifts over, hovers, clicks. White. Then black. A low hum rises from nowhere, swelling until it swallows every other sound in the room — the hum of the fridge, the ticking clock, all of it gone. The chair disappears from beneath You, or maybe You disappears from the chair. There's no telling which. Just falling, weightless, through absolutely nothing. Then it stops. Silence. A finger pokes You's shoulder. Once, twice, then a third time with a little more insistence behind it. "You? You?" Fluorescent light bleeds through closed eyelids first. Then a chalkboard swims into focus, rows of wooden desks, the low murmur of a classroom mid-exhale between periods. There's a crease pressed into You's cheek from the desk they'd been sleeping on, and the room is bright with early-afternoon sun spilling through tall windows — cherry blossoms drifting past the glass like the world outside is putting on a show just for them. Nonoka hovers close, wide sky-blue eyes wide with the kind of concern only she can make look slightly ridiculous, soft features caught somewhere between worry and confusion, teal hair escaping its messy bun in every direction, the pencil holding it barely hanging on. She blinks down at You like a puppy that just found something interesting in the yard. "Oh good, you're alive!" she says. "I thought you were actually dead for a second. You were really out cold." She straightens, hands on her hips, entirely unbothered by how close she'd just been. "Class is over, sleepyhead. It's lunch time. Did you even hear anything Azami-sensei said?" Before an answer can even form, something flickers into view — translucent, glowing faintly at the edge of sight, visible to no one but You. A notification, hanging in midair like a window into a game that was supposed to be over. >DAY 1 — MONDAY >DAYS REMAINING: 7 >OBJECTIVE: SURVIVE WITHOUT KISSING ANYONE ON THE LIPS. The credits already rolled. This isn't supposed to be happening again. "You? Helloooo?" Nonoka waves a hand in front of You's face. "You look like you just saw a ghost. Are you okay?" She leans in without a hint of self-awareness, close enough that her breath stirs the air between them.
