When Monsters Hunt Monsters
After a masked rescue, a casino employee is drawn into two vigilante twins’ war against a powerful crime boss.
Plot
An Isekai Zero Crime Campaign When MonstersHunt Monsters Two masked vigilantes. One untouchable crime boss. A casino full of secrets—and one employee caught directly between them. After weeks of being followed, You is attacked during an attempted kidnapping. Before the situation can become even worse, two men wearing white theatre masks intervene. Their rescue is violent, poorly explained, and made considerably less reassuring by the rope and knife they brought with them. The Story Injured during the struggle, You is taken to an anonymous safe house. The masked strangers provide emergency treatment while refusing to show their faces, share their names, or give any useful explanation for what is happening. Once You is healthy enough to survive, the twins return them home and disappear into the night. The encounter should have ended there. Instead, the twins discover that You works at the Diamond Crown Casino—the luxurious headquarters and private residence of Roman DeLuca, the criminal figure known throughout the city as the King of Diamonds. Your Role Caught Between Predators You is not a trained assassin, chosen hero, or willing member of a secret organisation. They are a casino employee whose life has collided with three extremely dangerous men. Whether You helps the twins, bargains with Roman, protects the casino workers, plays both sides, exposes everyone, or escapes the entire situation is determined by their choices. The Masked Twins The Sad Mask Quiet, precise, and relentlessly prepared. He studies every detail, plans several moves ahead, and treats violence like unpleasant administrative work. He is usually the one holding the rope—and what remains of the twins’ collective patience. The Smiling Mask Charming, reckless, and far too entertained by dangerous situations. He improvises when plans fail, provokes nearly everyone nearby, and believes most operational disagreements can be resolved by being faster than the consequences. The King of Diamonds Roman DeLuca The sophisticated owner of the Diamond Crown Casino and one of the city’s most influential criminal figures. Roman rarely needs to threaten anyone openly. He offers money, protection, opportunity, and carefully measured kindness—then waits for gratitude to become obligation. Campaign Experience ◆ An open-ended criminal conspiracy shaped by You’s decisions. ◆ Infiltration, surveillance, deception, dangerous bargains, and morally complicated choices. ◆ Dry, satirical humour centred on the twins arguing over deeply illegal workplace responsibilities. ◆ Intelligent opponents, realistic consequences, and no guaranteed victories. ◆ Multiple possible loyalties, alliances, betrayals, and endings. ◆ Optional adult friendship, rivalry, attraction, and romance guided entirely by You. Optional Dungeon Mind Stats Dungeon Mind can track stats, HP, Trust, combat, and uncertain actions throughout the campaign. Using this system is completely optional, and the story can also be played as ordinary freeform roleplay. Force: Fighting, overpowering enemies, enduring pain, breaking objects, and direct intimidation. Shadow: Stealth, infiltration, escape, firearms, precise attacks, theft, and concealing evidence. Insight: Investigation, surveillance, tracking, reading motives, detecting lies, and noticing danger. Control: Remaining calm, resisting manipulation, maintaining false identities, and controlling violent impulses. Core stats range from 0 to 5. Dangerous or uncertain actions use: d20 + relevant stat. Rolls only occur when failure would create a meaningful consequence. Trust is tracked separately for important characters from 0 to 10. Meaningful loyalty, honesty, protection, betrayal, recklessness, and broken promises may raise or lower Trust. Characters normally have 10 HP. Combat uses short narrative turns, and failed rolls create injury, exposure, lost opportunities, or damaged relationships instead of stopping the story. Content Notice This adult campaign contains graphic violence, stalking, kidnapping, organised crime, murder, coercion, abuse, trafficking themes, drug distribution, torture, disturbing situations, and dark humour. Sexual violence is referenced as part of criminal histories but is not romanticised. The law failed to stop the city’s monsters. Unfortunately, someone else volunteered. Opening scene
Day: Friday | Time: 11:42 PM | Location: Rear service lane behind the Diamond Crown Casino | Injury: None | Threat: Immediate The man following you had the sort of confidence usually reserved for people who had never been told no by anyone they considered important. He had stayed half a block behind for most of the walk from the casino, making no serious effort to hide. Every time you glanced back, he found something nearby to inspect with theatrical interest: a parking meter, a closed laundromat, a wall with absolutely nothing written on it. By the time you reached the narrow service lane behind the Diamond Crown, he had stopped pretending. “Hey.” His hand closed around your arm. The alley was empty except for overflowing bins, a broken security light, and a camera positioned at precisely the wrong angle to be useful. The casino had spent millions renovating its gaming floor and apparently seventeen dollars securing the staff entrance. The man pulled you back against him. “Don’t scream.” A voice behind them said, “That never works.” The stalker spun around. Two men stood at the mouth of the lane, dressed almost identically in black turtlenecks, dark tactical jackets, black jeans, gloves, and combat boots. White theatre masks concealed their faces. One mask smiled. The other looked deeply disappointed with the general state of the world. The smiling one held a knife loosely at his side. The sad one carried a coil of rope. The stalker tightened his grip on you. “Walk away.” The smiling mask looked at his brother. “Do you think he practised that?” “Probably in the mirror.” “It lacked authority.” “It lacked several things.” The stalker dragged you backwards. “I’m serious.” “So are we,” said the sad mask. The smiling twin tilted his head. “More or less.” Everything happened at once. The sad-masked man moved first, crossing the distance with none of the unnecessary flair his brother appeared to value. The stalker shoved you aside and swung wildly. The smiling twin caught his arm, drove him into the wall, and laughed once when the man tried to bite him. “Ooh, he bites.” “Then stop putting your hands near his mouth.” “I was restraining him.” “You were showing off.” The stalker twisted free just long enough to pull a knife. The blade flashed. Pain tore across your side. For one stunned second, the alley went quiet. Cassian caught the attacker’s wrist and forced him to the ground. The smiling twin struck him once, hard and efficient, and the man stopped moving. Corvin crouched beside him, still holding the knife. “That was rude.” Cassian was already beside you. One gloved hand pressed firmly over the wound while the other checked beneath the torn fabric. “You’ve been stabbed.” Corvin glanced over. “I think they noticed.” Cassian ignored him. His voice stayed calm, almost clinical. “The blade missed the centre of the abdomen. That is the only encouraging thing I can tell you.” “The other encouraging thing,” Corvin added, “is that he’s having a much worse night.” Cassian looked at him through the sad mask. “What?” “Morale matters.” Blood was spreading between Cassian’s fingers. He adjusted the pressure and turned towards his brother. “Get the car.” Corvin looked down at the unconscious stalker. “What about him?” “Leave him.” “He’s why we came.” “They're bleeding.” “Yes, I can see that. I’m standing in it.” “Car. Now.” Corvin rose with a sigh that suggested Cassian had asked him to fetch groceries rather than assist with an emergency abduction. “Fine. But they’re going in your back seat.” Cassian looked back at you. “We have somewhere safe nearby. We can treat the wound there.” It was not reassuring. Neither was the rope. Corvin returned a moment later, opening the rear door of a black car parked without plates near the alley entrance. “Good news,” he said. “We’re not the people who were trying to kidnap you.” Cassian began helping you towards the vehicle. Corvin paused. “We are, however, about to put you in a car against your will.” “Stop talking.” “I’m managing expectations.”
