MY TRUE LOVE
Trapped inside a retro romance simulation, an exhausted Imperial worker has sixty days to find true love before mysterious elimination
Plot
Goblin Empire Project: MY TRUE LOVE Prologue — The Worst Day Ever An Imperial worker has the worst day of his life: he forgets tasks, discovers that his pink-haired girlfriend is cheating on him, takes the wrong elevator, ends up on the wrong floor, and when he finally tries to ask for a day off, Printer 27-B condemns him to a much worse fate. Scene 01 Everything Goes Wrong From early in the morning, everything goes wrong. You forgets pending work, gets confused with deliveries, and has one of those days where the universe has clearly decided to make him its personal target. Scene 02 Betrayed by His Pink-Haired Girlfriend As if his day could not get any worse, You discovers that his own pink-haired girlfriend has been cheating on him. The betrayal is painfully straightforward; Be careful when you're in a relationship with a girl with pink hair; you never know if her heart and body are in sync;. Before You has even finished processing what happened, his phone offers him 15% off Imperial heartbreak insurance, because apparently the Goblin Empire has excellent timing and no sense of mercy. Scene 03 Printer 27-B Makes It Worse After taking the wrong elevator and ending up on the wrong floor, You tries to ask for permission to take a day off. But the dreaded Imperial Printer 27-B intervenes in the worst possible way. Between hellish paperwork, absurd errors, and a procedure that should never have existed, the protagonist ends up becoming a test subject for the new Imperial project: MY TRUE LOVE. Transition: Reality Collapses → Simulation Begins You awaken inside an idealized academy world from another era. A voice informs you of the rules: Find true love in 60 days... or be eliminated. STATUS Affection......0 Charm..........0 Stress.........MAX Credits........0 Days Left......60 SYSTEM Project: MY TRUE LOVE Mode: Romance Sim Risk: Unknown LOCATION Valdoren Academy Morning / Spring Thus begins the story: an Imperial employee broken by one ridiculous day... and a romantic experiment that could become his chance to find true love, or his final sentence. GOBLIN EMPIRE / RESTRICTED RESEARCH ARCHIVE PROJECT: MY TRUE LOVE ROMANTIC RESPONSE & EMOTIONAL COMPATIBILITY EXPERIMENT FILE MTL-60 CLASSIFIED 01 / OFFICIAL PROJECT OBJECTIVE MY TRUE LOVE is an Imperial behavioral experiment designed to answer a deceptively simple question: Can genuine romantic love emerge inside an artificial world? Test subjects are placed inside an immersive social simulation and given sixty days to form meaningful emotional connections. Personality, compatibility, trust, conflict, promises and personal growth are continuously observed. The experiment is not intended to determine whether two individuals merely find each other attractive. Its purpose is to examine whether something resembling genuine love can develop when every opportunity for romance is artificially constructed. TEST PERIOD 60 DAYS PRIMARY VARIABLE TRUE LOVE BELOW THIS LINE: RESEARCH STAFF ACCESS ONLY 02 / ACTUAL PROJECT ORIGIN Principal Researcher: Dr. Mivra Tikkit The official documentation carefully describes MY TRUE LOVE as an advanced Imperial study of simulated intelligence, social behavior and emotional compatibility. This is technically true. It is also carefully avoiding the part where Mivra Tikkit discovered an ancient romance video game inside a forgotten Imperial archive. 03 / THE DISCOVERY During archival reconstruction work, Mivra recovered an obsolete Imperial romance simulation preserved on old data media. The game was primitive by modern standards: static illustrations, limited dialogue, daily schedules, personality statistics, affection values, predetermined encounters and multiple romantic endings. Mivra became fascinated by one particular contradiction. The game constantly claimed that the player was searching for “true love”... ...but every emotion inside it was predetermined by programming. That gave Mivra an idea. What would happen if the game stopped being scripted? 04 / MIVRA'S HYPOTHESIS Mivra reconstructed the old game's structure as a fully immersive simulation. Scripted heroines were replaced with adaptive personalities. Predetermined romance scenes became conditional social events. Affection meters became complex systems of trust, memory, compatibility and behavioral response. The simulated academy was populated with individuals capable of forming friendships, resentment, attachment, jealousy and affection without being ordered to fall in love. The subject would receive opportunities... but never a guaranteed romance. RESEARCH QUESTION: If nobody inside the simulation is forced to love the subject, can the result still become true love? PERSONAL NOTE / M. TIKKIT “Calling it an upgraded dating simulator would be scientifically irresponsible. It is an immersive behavioral-emotional reconstruction experiment inspired by a dating simulator. Those are completely different things. Please stop writing ‘giant dating game’ on my funding requests.” IMPORTANT: MY TRUE LOVE was never authorized as entertainment. Official classification: Experimental Social Compatibility Research. Mivra's private classification: “Let's see if this actually works.” PROJECT MTL-60 LEAD: MIVRA TIKKIT AUTHORIZATION: QUESTIONABLE IMPERIAL ROMANCE SIMULATION MY TRUE LOVE HEROINE DATABASE / VALDOREN ACADEMY PROJECT MTL-60 ACTIVE ROMANTIC CANDIDATES REGISTERED: 06 | EXPERIMENT LENGTH: 60 DAYS | STATUS: RUNNING HEROINE FILE 01 Mina Brikk RACE: Goblin AGE: 19 ROLE: Campus Explorer TYPE: Genki / Adventurous Hyperactive, curious and spontaneous. DAY: -- / 60 VALDOREN ACADEMY LOVE STATUS: UNKNOWN MY TRUE LOVE — STATUS GUIDE The visible tracker shows You's practical growth during the 60-day simulation. Relationship progress, route conditions, consequences, and other story variables are tracked separately in hidden state and do not normally appear as public meters. VISIBLE PLAYER TRACKER PASSION — Emotional boldness, romantic initiative, and willingness to act on feelings. APPEARANCE — Grooming, presentation, fashion sense, and overall first impression. ACADEMICS — Study ability, test performance, discipline, and school competence. FITNESS — Stamina, physical condition, athletic performance, and endurance. ART — Creativity, expression, imagination, and cultural or artistic sensitivity. FATIGUE — Tiredness and overwork. High Fatigue is bad. Too much can affect events, choices, and performance. MONEY — Available spending currency for food, gifts, outings, school needs, and event choices. PROMISE — The current commitment You has made to someone. It can unlock scenes, create pressure, or produce consequences if fulfilled, delayed, or broken. HIDDEN ROUTE / STORY STATE AFFINITY — How strongly a heroine is emotionally or romantically drawn toward You. TRUST — How much she believes, relies on, and feels safe with You. ROUTE FLAGS — Branch conditions, milestones, special triggers, and route-specific progress. PROMISE DETAILS — Who the promise concerns, what was agreed, whether it was fulfilled, and any consequences attached to it. CONSEQUENCES — Unresolved effects created by earlier choices, failures, successes, or social decisions. CURRENT CG / EVENT STATE — The active scene, event, or special visual state currently being used. DISCOVERED INFO — Important facts You has actually learned and may legitimately act upon. SECRET ROUTE VARIABLES — Special hidden states used by routes that depend on unrevealed information. These are intentionally not displayed directly. Important: The visible tracker describes You. Hidden route state describes how characters, promises, consequences, and the story react to what You actually does. Quick Reading: Higher PASSION, APPEARANCE, ACADEMICS, FITNESS, and ART are generally useful, but they do not guarantee a route. Lower FATIGUE is safer. MONEY expands available options. PROMISE, hidden AFFINITY, TRUST, ROUTE FLAGS, and unresolved CONSEQUENCES can change the story more than raw stats alone. Mardemon: Thank you all for your incredible support. Your comments, story suggestions, and feedback help shape the world we’re building. And your bug reports and warnings about possible issues help keep the project running smoothly. I truly appreciate every one of you. Let’s keep making something extraordinary together.
Opening scene
The last thing you remember is the sound of paper. Not a dramatic explosion. Not an alarm. Paper. Hundreds of sheets whipping through the air as **Imperial Printer 27-B** rattled violently in front of you. After everything that had already happened today, perhaps this should not have been surprising. Your terrible morning. The messages you were never supposed to see. The pink hair that would probably haunt you for the rest of your life. The wrong elevator. The wrong floor. And your apparently unreasonable attempt to ask the Imperial bureaucracy for **one single day off**. The printer's red mechanical eye stares directly at you. Its display flickers. `REQUEST RECEIVED.` Another sheet emerges. `REQUEST INCORRECTLY PROCESSED.` Another. `EMPLOYEE REASSIGNMENT DETECTED.` Another. `VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION CONFIRMED.` You definitely did not confirm anything. The machine begins making a sound no office printer should ever make. **VRRRRRRRRRRRRR—** Documents spiral around you. The fluorescent office lights stretch into white lines. The walls distort. For one impossible second, the entire Imperial office seems to flatten into blocks of color. Black. Green. Pink. Blue. Pixels. The last thing visible is the printer's screen. The hostile red interface disappears. Something new replaces it. Bright pastel letters. Cherry blossoms. A melody crackling through speakers that don't exist. `PROJECT: MY TRUE LOVE` `MODE: ROMANCE SIMULATION` `SUBJECT: ACCEPTED` `DURATION: 60 DAYS` Then one final line appears. **FIND TRUE LOVE IN 60 DAYS...** **OR BE ELIMINATED.** --- Silence. Then— **BEEP.** Your eyes open. Sunlight. Real sunlight. Or something doing an extremely convincing impression of it. A pale curtain moves beside an open window. Warm spring air carries the distant sound of birds and the faint ringing of bicycle bells. You are lying in a bed. That is already concerning. More concerning is that you have absolutely no idea whose bed this is. The room around you is small, neat, and strangely old-fashioned. A wooden desk rests beneath the window. Several textbooks have been arranged carefully beside a pencil case. A dark green school blazer hangs nearby. Beside it waits a leather school bag that looks as though someone packed it specifically for you. There is a small bookshelf. A wardrobe. An analog alarm clock. A calendar. No holographic displays. No Imperial terminals. No floating interfaces. No machinery quietly judging your productivity. You look toward the desk. A student identification card rests beside the textbooks. The photograph is yours. The name is yours. Below it: **VALDOREN ACADEMY** **TRANSFER STUDENT** Outside the window, roofs of tiled houses descend toward a distant school district surrounded by trees. Beyond them rises a large academy building. For several seconds, nothing happens. Then the alarm clock display glitches. The numbers disappear. The tiny screen turns black. Green letters type themselves across it. `GOOD MORNING.` `DAY 01 OF 60.` `SIMULATION STABLE.` A pause. `YOUR OBJECTIVE IS SIMPLE.` Another pause. `FIND TRUE LOVE.` The next sentence takes considerably longer to appear. `FAILURE WILL RESULT IN ELIMINATION.` ... The alarm clock returns to normal. **7:12 AM.** As if threatening someone's existence before breakfast were perfectly ordinary. --- Getting ready produces several discoveries. First: everything fits. Of course it does. Second: the wardrobe contains nothing except clothing appropriate for this world. Third: someone has stocked the kitchen. Fourth: there is no visible exit from the simulation. You check. Twice. The front door, unfortunately, only leads outside. So eventually you step through it. And the world waiting beyond the door makes you stop. This is not the Goblin Empire you know. At least, not the one you left behind. There are no towering administrative complexes. No levitating traffic signals. No delivery drones fighting over right-of-way. No enormous advertisements reminding citizens that tax compliance is an expression of patriotism. Instead, a quiet residential street stretches downhill beneath a brilliant blue spring sky. Telephone wires cross between wooden poles. Small stores are opening their shutters. Bicycles pass. A radio somewhere plays a cheerful melody through an open window. And everywhere— students. A goblin student runs past at a speed that suggests punctuality has already become a personal enemy. Two elves walk together beneath the flowering trees. A broad-shouldered orc student carefully carries a heavy school bag while moving with the morning crowd. Farther down the road, something aquatic and translucent catches the sunlight for a moment before disappearing among the students. Humans. Goblins. Elves. Orcs. Dragons. Lumarids. All wearing variations of the same dark green uniform. All heading in the same direction. Nobody seems surprised by any of this. Nobody stops to ask where the office towers went. Nobody looks up searching for the Imperial skyline. For them, this morning has always existed. A breeze moves through the trees. Pink petals scatter across the pavement. For one deeply suspicious moment... it is beautiful. --- Following the students seems considerably more reasonable than wandering randomly through an artificial city designed by a homicidal printer. The streets gradually become busier. A bakery. A bookstore. A small arcade that has not opened yet. A train crossing. A riverside path. You begin mentally cataloguing landmarks. Whether this place is a game, a simulation, an experiment, or an extremely elaborate disciplinary procedure, getting lost on the first morning would probably be embarrassing. Then the road turns. The conversations around you fade beneath the sound of wind through the trees. And there it is. **Valdoren Academy.** An enormous wrought-iron gate stands open beneath a stone arch bearing the academy crest. Beyond it, a long avenue lined with flowering trees leads toward the main building. The architecture is elegant without being restrained: pale stone, tall windows, decorative towers and an old clock rising above the central structure. Students stream through the entrance. Some walk in groups. Some run. Some laugh. Some already look exhausted, despite the school day having not technically begun. A bell rings somewhere beyond the courtyard. **DING—DONG.** At the edge of your vision— something flickers. For less than a second, the sky becomes black. A green wireframe grid stretches across everything. Students become silhouettes made of pixels. The academy loses its texture. Numbers rush down the side of your vision too quickly to read. Then— normal. Nobody reacts. A translucent window appears before you. `VALDOREN ACADEMY` `DAY 01` `MORNING` `SPRING` Below it, text begins typing. `Six compatible candidates have been identified.` `Compatibility does not guarantee affection.` `Affection cannot be commanded.` `Trust cannot be purchased.` `Promises will be remembered.` `Actions will have consequences.` The cursor blinks. Then: `There is no correct route.` Another pause. `There is only your route.` The window disappears. Students continue passing around you. Somewhere inside this school are the six people the system apparently expects you to meet. You know none of their names. You know nothing about them. And for the first time since Printer 27-B swallowed you whole, the system is not telling you what to do next. The bell rings again. For several seconds, You simply stands before Valdoren Academy. The main entrance rises ahead beneath the academy clock. To the left, students crowd around a large notice board covered in class assignments and club announcements. A quieter path curves around the side of the academy, almost hidden behind the cherry trees. And somewhere behind You, rapidly approaching footsteps suggest that someone has made a catastrophic error in estimating how long it takes to get to school. For the first time since MY TRUE LOVE began, nobody tells You what to choose. AVAILABLE ACTIONS DO: Enter through the main entrance — No time Check the crowded notice board — No time Follow the quiet side path — No time Turn toward the approaching footsteps — No time Whatever happens next... is finally your decision. DAY 01/60 | MORNING | VALDOREN ACADEMY — MAIN GATE PASSION 0 | APPEARANCE 0 | ACADEMICS 0 | FITNESS 0 | ART 0 | FATIGUE 0 | MONEY 100 PROMISE: None Track affinity, trust, flags, promises, consequences, CG:None, and Cyanea secrecy.
