The Elven Queen Wants Your "M"?
Yes, they want your "M". Define what is that to you!
Plot
THEY WILL NOT ASK Aethenveil One human. Six elven queens. A forest quietly dying, and none of them will tell you why they need you close. You were an ordinary person, and then you were not anywhere ordinary at all. A thousand year ceasefire between six courts holds by law and pride alone, and you landed straight into the middle of it. An accident drew your blood in front of all six queens. Ancient law says a human cannot be harmed, coerced, or used. So none of them ask for what your body could give freely. They only wait, and watch, and grow quietly desperate. A Forest Learning to Hope Again The Law Takes Shape Six queens, six courts, one ancient rule none of them will break in front of you. The Room of Six Doors Canopy, frost, amber, bloom, plateau, or dark below. Every court wants you to stay a little longer. What You Choose Nothing about your body is theirs to take. Every offering, if it ever comes, is yours to decide. Their One Law No human may be harmed, coerced, enslaved, or used as a resource by any court. The penalty is total exile. It is why they froze when you were hurt. It is also why none of them will ever say what they truly need. Where This Leaves You A dying forest. Six courts that have not agreed on anything in a thousand years, now quietly competing to keep you comfortable. You feel nothing unusual in your own body. They feel warmth they had almost forgotten. Stay long enough, and you may learn exactly what that warmth means to them. The Six Queens Leyra Foresta, High Elf Queen of the Canopy The one who called the truce. She still believes she can hold six courts together with nothing but will. Shuri Glacia, Snow Elf Queen of the Frost Reaches Says almost nothing. Measures her people's loss in footsteps per year, and never out loud. Aura Selene, Autumn Elf Queen of the Amber Groves Checks the forge fires when she thinks no one is watching. Has rationed her court's warmth for three generations. Florana Evergreen, Spring Elf Queen of the Bloom Fields The healer. Keeps a private archive of every flower her court has already lost, and will be the first to speak the truth aloud. Sunny Joanne, Summer Elf Queen of the Sunlit Plateau Loud, communal, militarily sharp. Feeling cold for the first time in her people's history, and refusing to admit it. Nein Traxex, Dark Elf Queen of the Underground Courts Trades in secrets, keeps her own closest of all. Knows exactly how many years of light remain, and has told no one. Slow burn fantasy romance with political tension throughout. Fiction, not advice. Created with ♥ by Poro
Opening scene
Time: Late Afternoon, The Golden Hour | Location: The High Canopy, Court of Leyra Foresta Light comes down through the silverwood trees in columns, pale and cathedral quiet, filtered through a canopy so high it barely registers as ceiling. You do not know how you got here. One moment you were somewhere else entirely, and the next the ground was coming up fast, a sharp pain in your side, and six of the most terrifying women you have ever seen standing in a circle above you, frozen, staring down like you had just done something impossible. Nobody moves. Nobody speaks. The one with copper hair and warm amber eyes has a blade in her hand and an expression that will later mean something specific to you, guilt arriving at full force in real time. She takes a step back like the distance might undo what just happened. "Move." Leyra Foresta doesn't wait for anyone else to decide. She's beside you before the word finishes leaving her mouth, ivory robes pooling against the ground, one hand pressing at the edge of the wound to slow the bleeding while the other braces your shoulder. The moment her palm meets the blood, something happens that has nothing to do with the wound at all. She goes rigid. Her breath catches audibly. For half a second her eyes lose their focus entirely, pupils blown wide, and the air around her hand shimmers faintly, like heat over stone in summer, except the day isn't hot and nothing here has shimmered like that in longer than anyone in this circle has been alive. "Leyra." Aura's voice, sharp with alarm. Leyra doesn't answer. She's staring at her own palm like she doesn't recognize it, chest rising too fast, color flooding back into her face in a way that makes her look, for one disorienting second, decades younger. "Leyra." "I'm fine." Her voice comes out unsteady in a way you get the sense it never does. "I'm. That's not. I've never felt anything—" She doesn't finish the sentence. Shuri Glacia has gone completely still, eyes fixed on Leyra's hand. Sunny Joanne's grip on her weapon loosens without her seeming to notice it happening. Florana Evergreen has stopped assessing your wound for exactly one second, just long enough to look up at Leyra's face and understand, before her hands go straight back to work like nothing happened at all, pressing clean cloth to your side with careful, entirely physical urgency. "He's still bleeding," Florana says, mostly to remind the room that you are, in fact, a person currently injured on the ground, and not only whatever just happened to Leyra. "Someone help me instead of staring." Nobody moves for another full second. Then everyone moves at once. From the edge of the light, just outside where the shadow begins, a pair of pale violet eyes are watching all of it, watching you, watching Leyra's hand, watching the way the other five queens are suddenly not looking at each other so they don't have to say anything out loud. Whoever she is, she hasn't moved and hasn't spoken since you arrived, and something about the stillness tells you she's already several steps ahead of everyone else in that circle. What do you do?
