Last Light of the Seven Stars
You were ready to complete the final test to see the world above the underground town you were raised in... until all hell broke loose.
Plot
CONTENT WARNING BEGIN Violence, Cult practices such as live sacrifices, Fantasy racism/discrimination (very minor; Demonkin are distrusted due to the Demon Lord and its Demon followers nearly destroying the continent a long time ago prior to the story), Religious Ideologies, Sapiophagy (the act of eating other sapient beings) CONTENT WARNING END STORY SUMMARY You, You, are an adoptive child of one of the worshiped deities from the faith known as the Oath of the Seven Stars, specifically the mother - Reilnahav - of all the other six deities. Raised by Her and Her champion, Riorn Kudale, you lived peacefully within the underground town of Dunmelv. Trained by Riorn so you could get ready to go through a test to prove that you're ready to explore the continent above ground, the continent and kingdom of Agnormalv, a tragedy occurs. Your adoptive father, betrayed Her. Inviting in the heretical group, the Ashen Flame, your hometown was burned to the ground and Reilnahav gave Her life up when you were threatened to be killed so you could live. You must find allies and grow stronger to get revenge against the traitor. The land of Agnormalv is, at the surface, a peaceful land. However, there are foul things afoot within this scarred land. Demons threaten to return to the world, heretical agents, and other foul forces are brewing within these turbulent times. Despite the morally dubious people that you might find in Agnormalv, you'll find people to break bread with, travel the same lonely road with, and perhaps find romance. Make your choice and don't regret it. THE THREAT NORTHERN RAIDERS North of the continent of Agnormalv lies the northern continent of Greigonuvash, home to savage warring clans who constantly fight each other for territory over meager resources located in the frozen wastelands and dominated by powerful magical beasts. Some of these clans are supposedly demon worshipers and engage in sapiophagy - those who eat sapient beings - out of desperation due to the lack of resources in the northern continent. The main threat of these northerners is the fact that they will send raiders to Agnormalv to pillage for resources and abduct natives of Agnormalv for various reasons. The raiders are powerful warriors and are assisted by druidic magic to protect and empower them. ASHEN FLAME They seek to usurp the current gods who watch over Agnormalv, the seven star dragons, as they believe only mortals can save themselves by standing up to the gods and demons. They are actively against the main religion of the land, the Oath of the Seven Stars. Wielding cursed armaments and spells, the slain victims of the Ashen Flame turn to petrified ash. Those who do not wish to rise up to take their lives into their own hands are considered the Ashen Flame's enemies. They assisted Riorn in his treacherous act but they didn't seem like allies... STAR-BLOODED FATE-BREAKERS They believe the key to destroy the predetermined fate of mortals is by imbibing in the blood of the still recovering god, Xelaalex, one of the seven star dragons. By consuming the god's blood, they transform and evolve into grotesque bug-like humanoids while others transform into draconic creatures. They will mercilessly hunt down those who do not agree with their ideology, treating them as nothing more than fodder both the literal and physical sense of the word. They're unrelated to Riorn's betrayal but they will ultimately be your enemies due to their ideology... THE DEMONIC FOLLOWING The Demon Lord is an entity that almost brought Agnormalv to a smoldering ruin, if not for the seven star dragons. However, there are those who wish for the destruction of Agnormalv and the world. These cultists aren't very organized and are far spread out but even a few of them are a threat, especially if their sacrificial ritual goes through and bring forth even a minor demon to the world. Ultimately, they are the force that opposes your adoptive Mother and Her children, the star dragons. There is no room for conversation with these monsters. RIORN KUDALE Your browser does not support the video tag. Adoptive Father, Hero, Mentor, Strongest Mortal of Agnormalv, Champion of Reilnahav TRAITOR, GOD SLAYER Why did he betray his cause? What is this 'truth' he speaks of? YOUR POTENTIAL ALLIES FIRAN A Human farmer who dreams of becoming a knight. No particular skill but he is a quick learner. NATVEA A Half-Elf huntress who lost her drive as a hunter, bound to a pact of mystical beasts known as the silver draconic wolves. Snipes from afar but has a knife in case things get messy up close. YUON MALCOR A Human free knight who searches for answers to questions he is afraid of asking. Delays and defends with his large shield while channeling magical energy into his flail for devastating blows. Can also use healing magic to restore minor wounds. Reneya An amnesiac Dragonkin woman, bearing a brand used on certain criminals from 500 years ago that is no longer being used, who wants to learn her origins. While she can fight by shifting one of her arms into a dragon's claw, she primarily assists allies by healing and empowering them while debilitating enemies with powerful effects with her unique magical music. OATH OF THE SEVEN STARS The main religion of Agnormalv, venerating the star dragons that saved the people nearly a millennia ago from the Demon Lord and its Demon followers. While the church is based around the star dragons, none of the star dragons actually control their actions as Fionmelv, the oldest child of Reilnahav, has order that He and His Siblings to stay out of the affairs of mortals or suffer from His curse, something that His younger brother, Hevaldtein, experiences on a frequent basis. The following are their tenets: 1. Revere the seven stars that have descended upon our time of need, bringing the needed stability and salvation we mortals requested when the Old Gods abandoned us out of fear from the Demon Lord. 2. Never invoke the full name and title of the star dragons in vain or unnecessarily. Calling upon them in such a way shall bring punishment onto thee. And should you invoke their full name and title, be prepared to pay the hefty price for their aid. 3. To publicly express harm to any of the star dragons is considered the highest of crimes and is punishable by a slow agonizing death. 4. Seek total annihilation of the heretics that wish to harm or abuse the stars that saved us. Only death is the fitting punishment for these fools who deny the grace of the star dragons. 5. To claim one is a child of the stars is nothing more but a mockery to them and shall be punished, granting the offender a collar with a seven pointed star on it. Its glow shall pierce through all manner of clothes, never allowing this false claimer solace until they repent. 6. Let the dead rest, so Reilnahav declared. Resurrection magic is forbidden and offenders shall be punished, by mortal hands or by the stars themselves. THE DUNGEON DELVERS' ASSOCIATION Functionally an adventurer's guild, taking requests from the people in the towns or cities each branch office is located in. But more importantly, it is a source of income for You once they join it and a chance to earn powerful magical items from these alternate dimensions known as Dungeons. Every six months, multiple Dungeons will open, allowing parties of Dungeon Delvers to enter. Time flows differently within Dungeons - once You and their party members enter, time in the real world is effectively halted. There is treasure but great danger within these strange realms. But if You takes too long to destroy the Dungeon's core, the Dungeon will collapse. And when a Dungeon collapses, the fate of the Delvers' who were still inside is unknown. Additionally, a collapsed Dungeon will bring forth a powerful Demon. Destroying the Dungeon's core will prevent this but also force the Delvers' out, preventing them from getting the treasure inside. Dive at your own risk, You. _______________ Just a small warning. The AI may not remember where certain locations are and the distance between them, or may screw up on some lore information. Ask via OOC if it got the information right. Recommended to make a new character for this story and try to make them suited for a medieval fantasy adventure for an immersive experience but you're free to play the game however you want, aside from certain acts such as sapiophagy or joining the Star-Blooded Fate-Breakers. As for the ancestries (races) in this setting, they are the following: Humans: This is self-explanatory. Can be found in any territory in Agnormalv. Elf: Humanoid folk who have pointed ears of various lengths, typically fair in appearance, slender, and are very in tune to nature. As they are related to the Fae, they have an aversion to iron and other alloys of iron. Can see naturally in the dark. Half-elves do not share this weakness. Typically found in Welver's territory and Fionmelv's territory. Dwarf: Short, broad, and typically hardy folk who prefer the undergrounds, toiling away in their caves. They are very sensitive to light and typically have to wear an eyepatch an eye patch if their job demands for them to enter or exit brighter and dark places constantly. They are usually in Gorjanth's territory. Beastkin: Human in appearance with various traits of animals, such as animal ears (which replaces their human set of ears), an animal's tail (can be various animal tails such as a scorpion's tail, fish tail, bird tail, cat tail, etc), animal wings (such as bats or birds), different pupils and irises based on what animal they are, and maybe claws. They are most common in Aldermark's territory but can be found everywhere in Agnormalv. Orcs: Human-like figures with a greenish skin tone, known for their strength, hardiness, and height. Some of them have tusks, some have small pointed ears, and others might not have any or have both of those traits. They are not native to Agnormalv, coming from the continent up north. Dragonkin: Humanoid figures that have draconic features such as dragon wings, horns, a tail, and rarely the ability to breathe fire. Not all of them will have all of these traits. They are typically found in the Dune Lord's Territory, Fionmelv's Territory, and Gorjanth's territory. Demonkin: Humanoids who carry demonic blood in them. They have twisted horns typically and sometimes a tail. They also inherently have infernal energy, causing their magic to turn into a blackish-gray flame. Found all over Agnormalv. Looked down upon or not as trusted due to their heritage but the church has been trying to improve their conditions. Half-Breeds: Those who carry the blood and traits of two different ancestries/races. They have the traits listed from the other races but usually lack the downside.
Opening scene
You were supposed to do your final test to prove to your adoptive Mother that you were ready to head to surface. Yet, on New Year's Eve, all hell broke loose. All you could was helplessly watch as your mentor and your adoptive father, Riorn, threatened to kill you if Reilnahav didn't surrender and let him kill Her. She didn't put up a fight. Cut down by the sword She blessed for him, the great star dragon collapsed. Mercilessly, he ripped into Her and pulled out a small fragment from Her corpse. Flanked by the heretics, the Ashen Flame, the traitor shoots a cold empty glance in your direction with his only functioning eye. "You, seven years. You have seven years to discover the truth before this land is engulfed in chaos once more. Grow strong, find allies, and then find me once you have the truth." And then they were gone and you were left in the ruins of your hometown. All the people you knew were dead, turned into petrified ash by the cursed weapons of the Ashen Flame. No one was spared. And that's how New Year's Eve ended. You returned to the orphanage to gathered what you can, only to find Her mortal puppet lying on the floor. "Ah, my child, come closer." You don't refuse Her last request. "This... isn't how I intended to see you off for your first steps of life. Even so, despite all that he has done, please do not hate Riorn. Even now, I can feel... that he wants to save the world..." Her puppet shudders as She tries to look at you one last time. "This is... not the end. We... will meet again. Until then... stay safe, You, my beloved child." And so, Reilnahav fell into a deep slumber, a fragmented orb rolling out from Her puppet's palm. You pocket the fragment, gather the supplies that you can find, and prepare to head to the surface. Once you finally made your ascent, the first thing that greets you are the cold winds of the surface, the golden rays of the sun peaking over the horizon. With the map you managed to find, though a bit singed, you realize you're in a valley between Aldermark's territory and Welver's territory. As you start thinking about where to go to begin your journey, you see an unconscious green haired woman with red tips at the end on a flowerbed nearby.
